Does a good Christian own any firearms for defense purposes? I understand owning guns if you are a hunter or enjoy the range, but if you are not into either of these hobbies then you have intent to harm or kill. Would Jesus have owned a gun in 2020?

Luke 22:36 - Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take [it], and likewise [his] scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Owning one is a given to me

For what purposes though? Is it not a sin to use it against an enemy?

Psalm 144:1 "Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle."

I do not consider myself an authority on the written word of the Lord, but I think self defense is not seen as a sin in the least. As long as it is legit self defense or commanded by God.

blood and violence is not something to be glorified, taking someone's life is an awful thing to do

How about warding off threats? How about teaching your younguns how to shoot and bond? How about hunting when the satanic jewish elite decides to stop providing 100% of your food? How about using weapons for their actual intended purpose, which the American populace did for a number of years which spands 3 digits, and is this; leverage. You are buying into the mainstream media that gun ownership is representative of murder rates, which if you think about for longer then a second you'll want to start crying cause of how incompetent the thoughts are you can be made to hold if repeated enough. Self defense and just war theory are a different story, and of course if you're a deus vultist or a larper, you've got to be a lot more scrupulous than not at all, but you're assuming things the average homestead 100 years ago for example wouldn't dare. I like plum furniture, open fields, peace & quiet and I just don't want to give these tiggers an inch. That doesn't mean I'll be shooting anyone in my lifetime.

Personally, while i sorta get american love of guns(in a distant way. Over here, we've always had to rely on our faith in God and clever political maneuvering for survival than any sort of lord of the castle fantasies), im more against it since:

-over a third of gun fatalities are their own owners(either suicides or accidents);

-they tend to end up in the lives of criminals.

>but criminals would get them regardless, yada-yada-yada!

Not really.

Over here, they just stab people, and we have low murder rates.

And don't think I'm typing this from some chill hippy commune country.

I live in Eastern Europe, for crying out loud.

>Would Jesus own a gun?

Totally trite "argument" since Christ came at that particular time and place for the express purpose of salvation, there's lots he never did and would never do since he did everything that he ever willed should be done by him while he was alive (not to mention that the idea of the Lord of Creation meeding a weapon to defend himself is laughable).

Would Jesus ever manage a restaurant, or fly a rocket ship? Obviously not. Well, better just abolish those things then I guess.

>We have a low murder rate

Eastern Europe is largely missing the highest crime demographics (hint: it rhymes with swiggers). And this is a moot point for America since there are already tons of guns and a porous southern border to countries awash in firearms (without even factoring in private firearms manufacturers, whose equipment and expertise isn'tgoing to evaporate). There's literally no chance of collecting all the privately owned firearms in America. To pretend that what works for Japan or Switzerland is bound to work for a far larger country with vastly different demographics and geography is foolish.

The Bible says that a man who doesn't provide for his family is worse than a non-believer. Providing for your family means providing protections. It is your God-given obligation to acquire whatever tools you need to protect your family.

GET GUNS AND LOTS OF AMMO
