Good. You can at least find friends among Orthodox. You don't have to be one. You'll find even more likeminded among conservative Anglicans/Methodists/Nazarenes. Theologically, it's not radically different - except for the LARPing. This is where Christians who recognize the importance of both faith and holiness, but DON'T want to LARP, will find a home. You say "mere Christianity". Well, CS Lewis was a conservative Anglican himself.

In orthodoxy, we don't believe in the Immaculate Conception.
We believe her blessedness is due to obedience, not nature. Christ affirms our view in Luke 11:27-28.
>And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.
>But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
We consider her the first monastic, alongside John the Forerunner.

I didn't reject the church over the icons. I rejected it because Mary was much larger than anything representing Jesus. And because of sacraments like kissing the Bible which I see no biblical basis for, unlike baptism or the Lord's supper.

Look at the central steeple.
We have a huge Christ Pantocrator(Lord of the Universe) there, as a general rule.
Also, the altar has the crucified Jesus as the central point, and everyone else that flow under it are considered forerunners and assistants.

No I'm not. You cannot achieve the works of the Spirit with the arm of the flesh. Besides did Acts rip off Marx or was it the other way around? I am merely saying, it's an all too common myth that Capitalism is a pillar of a proper Christian society. After all, the founding fathers who drafted the US Constitution were occultists, not Christians. The closest thing you have to a model Christian society is Amish communities.

Treachery takes the form of affection, this is a common social game. Any move in language has infinite uses just as a hammer has infinite uses. A hammer needn't strike nails, it can be used as paper weight. One may kiss to deceive, one may kiss to praise.
We kiss the books because we like what's written, we make it of precious and pretty metals because we don't value the material things it could buy greater than what's written, we could not find anything better than prayer.
I am also quite socially awkward but going to a parish has helped me, I think it will help you as well. If you're anything like me, you're also quite a perfeccionist and this has made you aloof. I speak of myself when I say I was in a vicious cycle of aloofness feeding high expectations and vice-versa. If you are in a similar position, you might find useful to hear that, in my experience, not letting my blood boil so quickly has been beneficial for my spirit. Though, spiritual changes are ultimately grace and incommunicable.

One should love Mary as our spiritual mother even if we don't believe that she was born sinless and that she never had relations with her husband Joseph (it says the opposite in Matthew 1:25). It's unduly childish to cram our fingers in our ears when we think Mary has been insulted by any Christian's opinion of her, and it's like a child's tantrum to disregard her. In short, there's no reason to write greentext about a nice statue.
