Why Does the sin of gluttony get a free pass compared to the other seven deadly sins?

> Those who never fast usually suffer from cancer. Cancer still has no cure and appears without any other explanation than as a punishing brake on the debauchery of the stomach. It is seen that through it the greed of food and the origin of fornication are punished. (used google translate from Romanian because lazy)

Father Arsenie Boca talked about how dangerous gluttony is. He said that cancer could be a punishment for those who never fast and who commit the sin of gluttony.

The main point is that gluttony is an absolute killer of man. The reason why it's not taken as seriously on a non morbidly obese person is because we should enjoy our food and give thanks to the Lord. At the same time, we are called to fast and while it's not the focal point for salvation, it is absolutely needed in order to strengthen oneself's body, mind and soul.

Tbh I struggle with it myself

While Father's Boca medical knowledge is…dubious at times, with this he was kind of right(see 5:25).

And besides meat, consumption of too many carbs and sugars is also terrible for your health, for obvious reasons.

So yeah, gluttony and not fasting is bad for you.

idk man I don't like where this video starts, but yeah personally this is kind of my first time fasting. I haven't eaten meat, but I ate dairy products and sometimes egg every day since the fast started. I'm focusing on defeating my sugar addiction rn and limiting my sugar intake, which is why I don't feel imminent guilt about failing with dairy products.

I promised myself I'll try to fast correctly though. I'm pretty fat and glutton tbh.

Don't fret about it.

You'll do fine.

It doesn't, gluttony is as mortally sinful as any other sin. These "600lbs losers" live in the product of their sinful lifestyle of overeating.

It shouldn’t even be possible to be 600lbs. I’m not sure if king Henry the 8th was that fat.

Have you seen what a 600lb person looks like? If King Henry VIII was that fat or anywhere near that fat, it would've shown in the paintings. I think King Henry VIII was extremely fat for his time. Unfortunately, I think he'd blend in quite well in our modern era.

Some sins are easy to commit, others not so much.

I confessed the sin of gluttony. Father asked me if I ate so much that I threw up. Well, of course not! So, it wasn't a sin.

Being fat has definitely ruined my life, so I don't know why you think I've gotten a free pass on it.

In both health and behavior.

Jokes aside, not really.

Tudors overate a lot, just like us, but their diets were excessive amounts of meat and protein(maybe some honeyed cakes and stuff), while we shove too many carbs and sugars(and we could cut down on the meat somewhat) down our throat.
