There's a disturbing number of people here giving advice that simply isn't good. It's not just that it's not good, it's downright bad. In the thread with the guy dealing with homosexuality, there's a lot who think this is an outward problem. There were various suggestions, telling him to exercise more, think how disgusting sodomy is, etc., and none of this is actually given in a Christian manner, it appears. You're going by worldly ways. If the advice you all had given worked, trust me, the world would know by now.
If you have a problem that is mental, physical or spiritual that you wish to deal with, the most obvious way, you'd think, would to come boldly before the Throne of Grace. Seek God. Talk to Him, understand him where He is guiding you. Too many are too happy to give advice that neglects we must clean the inside first. Exercising won't do that, seeing how disgusting something is won't do that, that's already crossed his mind.
If you want your advice to be effective, then get scripture to understand, which I've noticed in that same thread most of you refuse to even acknowledge exists. As Christians, we are not of this world, but the the advice you give is purely of this world. How do you know what God wants to do? Having never dealt with it, a homeless man may as well be asked for his homeless wisdom because you refuse to understand the issue, or look at others who dealt with it. Literally, I saw some idiot who tell those who have they're wrong. What a prideful person. You act like experts, but refuse to even consider what God's point of view is on it. Maybe there's something else going on that you all are missing?
I'm going on a rant, but I want to end it with this: it's nice to help, to want to help, but we need to come boldly to Christ. If you're giving advice that neglects input from God, you're refusing to seek His power, but, more importantly, you're not growing yourselves. Seek God and if you don't hear anything, let those who know a little bit better answer and humble yourselves.
