Imagine if the world we live in is a book, and God is the author. Would Jesus then be God's self-insert character?

I don't think so, no.

While Jesus and The Father are both God, they're still both distinct from one another. Jesus isn't how The Father sees Himself nor wishes to see Himself so I don't believe this is correct.
