The Witch of Endor is debatably the most famous ghost legend in the Bible and the name has been appropriated by many authors and artists, especially recently. In Star Wars 6 the planet is literally called Endor and Ender's game and Endermen have very similar spelling to Endor with only a one vowel difference. There are many interesting consistencies between these three things. They all involve space themes and strange alien-like creatures. They all involve some kind of queen or emperor: Sidious, the bug queen, and the Ender Dragon. These leaders are also all confronted by one dude, Luke, Ender, and Steve. Now here's the thing. Even though these pop culture references are all pretty consistent with each other I don't get the reference to the Bible story. In what way do these traits they share relate to the Bible story enough to warrant using the name?

That seems more like a /tv/ question than a /christian/ question but who knows, perhaps /lit/ will have the answer.

I think there's some kind of technique for checking how often a word shows up in books using Google. Perhaps the trend had started in literature first and then spread to movies. It could be interesting to check the word's frequency of usage in books first and in what books.

It'd be nice if some kind of website had the transcript for every single movie then you could just check that but I seriously doubt anyone's done it.

But yeah, I'd try /tv/.

Most likely has to do with the Talmudic oral law traditions, they added in a bunch of extra untrustworthy traditions to everything in the Bible. Hollywood and basically every mainstream media produced in the US is heavily Talmudic. This also has a big influence on others as well, which may explain it seeping into other things from there.
