The word “Rest” is misunderstood by humans. The rest God took is not because He was tired. The Bible never says He was tired. There is a time for everything. A time to work, a time to play, etc.

God completely finished His work and it was time to sit back and look at all His works and the beauty in them, and how it’s all working together. He didn’t leave things half-built then continue them later, which is what tired people do. God only “rested” because He finished completing everything that was necessary for life on earth to be possible, he completed all the mechanics needed to house the rest of his creations that would come afterwards.

Much like when putting an aquarium together, there’s a building of the actual system. Glass containment, Rocks, sand, plumbing, water, bacteria, lighting, etc. Next comes filling that system with fish after you step back and look at how it’s all completed and ready (Rest). He was simply standing back and enjoying the work done so far, before the next steps begin. It never says He slept, which is what tiredness always leads to. He “rested”, he stopped his works and took a good look at them, He didn’t go to sleep.

There is a time for enjoying what you’ve created. Looking at it and enjoying the works of your hands. That’s what God was doing. If God truly had limits to His strength then He would’ve collapsed under the strain of watching over people and protecting them until now, that has never happened and never will because His power is unlimited. God’s focus is so unlimited that every atom is accounted for in His mind and how it will be used in the course of eternity.

When God gave His people the Ten Commandments and told them to rest on the sabbath, that rest was not for gaining back your energy, sleep is for that, although for creatures with limited power it does do that as well. He simply meant for that day to be a day of looking back on your works and enjoying what you’ve created so far. Humans were His next project, He had finished His first project (Creation of the Heaven and Earth and it’s mechanics). He didn’t change what He created so far after His rest, He began to add to it on the eighth day. Tired people stop a task halfway through and continue it after they have slept. God had completed the task of creation of heaven and earth. After stopping and enjoying what He has created so far and the completion of it, He ventured on the next task that was Humankind. He rested on the seventh day not because He was tired, but because He’s organized and does things properly. There is a point when doing things properly that you have to look at what you’ve created before going to the next step, that’s what He was doing.

The word “Rest” is easy to misunderstand. Ever hear the term, “give it a rest”? When someone tells you that, they don’t mean, “your tired, go to sleep”. They mean, “stop it, you tire me”. Maybe God rested so others could regain their strengths. Jesus was involved in creation as well as angelic creatures, no one can keep up with God. Even jews where told that resting involved their slaves/servants to rest as well. God didn’t let the Jews rest and have their underlings do work that day, He demanded that everything stops for that day.

>Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; while it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

>Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

That is, mystically, rest is entering Canaan, the harvest, and ceasing from your own works. Everything has been done from the foundation of the world.

"Genesis 2:2 "By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work"."

why would a being want to remain in a state of perpetual motion just because they are all powerful? What, God can created the sun but he can't sit and watch a sunset?
