Can anyone explain to me why pic related is considered canonical but Judith and Tobit aren’t when:

- Esther is the same genre

- Esther is equally historically inaccurate (marriage to Xerxes, costons that didn’t take place funtil hundreds of years later

- Esther does not mention God at all

- There are Hebrew manuscript of Tobit & Judith (Dead Sea Scrolls)

Why wasn’t Esther tossed out with these incredibly similar Septuagint books?

It is preserved in the original language, also if you read apocrypha you will see really quickly that it's not inspired.

They're really not that much different from the Wisdom books (in the case of Tobit and Judith) from Esther. If the latter are inspired, then it makes sense to say the former are inspired since they really only differ in the language used to write it (with most of the deuterocanonical being written in Greek due to it being written by Greek Jews and the rest in Hebrew). That's the only real argument for them not being inspired and even that is pretty weak on it's face.

Maybe in the DSS perhaps. I'm not sure. The dead sea scrolls and such things don't count though anyway, because they were only discovered in 1947, where as the Word of God is preserved unto every generation. Those of us that read the Bible know, Only something that isn't the preserved word of God would be lost until 1947 and then rediscovered.

That's also why we don't use modern versions either, coincidentally

Isaiah 59:21

As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

Isaiah 40:8

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

1 Peter 1:23-25

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
