Next three Apocrypha books after Esdras 2 in the 1873 pictorial Bible. For anyone wanting to expand their personal library. It’s apocrypha, apply wisdom in order to see if it’s truly the word of God.
Double paged landscape and single paged portraits.

The next book ‘Wisdom of Solomon’ and ‘Ecclesiasticus’. Ecclesiasticus is long. I’ll keep it all in one thread.

Thank you for this. I haven’t read Esdras yet. This will help. God bless.

Yeah, chapter 7 appears to be the chief difference having twice as many verses.

That is odd, was it removed? Are you familiar with the reasons why this was the case? It’s not the first time I’ve heard of extensions found in some books or missing sections. That’s why I ask. I’ve heard of a similar thing for the book of revelations but it turned out to be a hoax. Not that this is, I haven’t read any of it so I don’t have an opinion on it. Removal of texts is something I believe happened much more than we realize anyway. But if you have context on why this particular book had more text that went with it, I would like to hear your thoughts.

From the Revised Version Wikipedia article
—In its Apocrypha, the Revised Version became the first printed edition in English to offer the complete text of Second Esdras, inasmuch as damage to one 9th-century manuscript had caused 70 verses to be omitted from previous editions and printed versions, including the King James Version.
Btw the NETS link for "2 Esdras" appears to just be part of the Greek version of Ezra–Nehemiah. Something to do with confusing differences in the arrangement of the text.
