I don’t think any Christian would choose the word ‘afterlife’. Some Christians believe you die and go to heaven others believe you die and your soul rests with God till the resurrection. There are varying beliefs about the matter but through all the different stances they do believe that death doesn’t mean the end of existence.

I even heard not going to either heaven or hell but of resurrection in the end times and then the last judgment

You're bewitched by the word "know". Pray and dedicate yourself to God and you will "know".

The Bible says many contradictory things about the afterlife reflecting the changing culture of the Israelites and their contact with other cultures beginning rather vaguely with sheol and eventually moving onto more complex notions that were influenced heavily by Persian as well as Greek thought.

Some believe you go straight to heaven some believe you rest first. I for one believe in resting for many. Daniel was told to go toward the end (toward the light?) and after some rest he would stand up again at his lot. (Very last scripture of book of Daniel). So he rests. And he was a prophet. Some on the other hand go directly to heaven, but even this is something that happens after a specific event occurs I Heaven, before the final days. This is one perplexing topic. Also there is evidence that heaven is for the saints and earth for the great crowd that survives the final days. This being said I feel like the great crowd will be taken up to heaven to avoid the destruction in the realm that is earth and then be returned to it to live there forever and rebuild it. I don’t think God created all this just to destroy it after taking it back from satan. Some seem to believe he’s gonna destroy the earth and everyone’s gonna live in heaven. I for one believe heaven is for the most holy and Most devoted to God. The earth seems like too much work went in it to destroy. If prophets rest then who are we to go straight to heaven.
It’s hard to say what’s a contradiction and what’s not in this case, but I doubt the wicked didn’t taint these scriptures as well over time, with all the other things they tainted With contradiction, why would this not be? but I do believe with enough scriptures pulled up on the matter, and with our emotions aside, we can all come to a better understanding of this.
I’m really trying to hold my horses on this one.
I find it comforting though that even non-Christians can see we all believe in life after death.

There are anecdotes of people having near death experiences who have seen heaven and hell.
