i.e. if the egg is fertilized in a test tube and never sees the inside of a uterus

Give me your best arguments for why taking advantage embryonic stem cells to heal a disease is morally wrong, and even for why it's not.

Give me bible verses that say life begins at conception.

Life begins at conception.

The problems with in vitro are why in vitro fertility treatments are a mortal sin.

Why? Because the Holy Mother Church says so.

Bible verse: People who deny half of the Lord's teachings are probably going to end up in hell, least they repent and get with the One True Church.

Have a really Great day! Brother

Yes, the Bible doesn't talk about in vitro or sending naked selfies on OnlyFans.

Go figure. They're still sins.

Yes, it doesn't make a diference where it's concieved.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

>shall conceive

Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

>shall be with child

Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

>conceive seed

And how do any of these say that it doesn't matter where conception happens or where the egg is fertilized? Refrain from being offended at the question.

These verses don't even seem to imply that life begins at conception, which is what I asked for.

The Bible makes it clear life begins before birth (Jer 1, Psalm 139).

The only non arbitrary start point is conception.

If it's life, ending it is murder. Murder is wrong (ten commandments).

We don't need explicit verses for any position, that's a dumb a priori rule.

But how is in vitro fertilization, conception. Conception implies to be with something, i.e. the mother, e.g. "she is with child." How is fertilizing an egg in a test tube the same thing as conceiving?

This gets at a more important point, because God is the cause for every life to be created. It doesn't just happen automatically. If any life begins at all, it is only because of God causing it. That's according to these verses. Therefore if you have a child forming at all, that implies God is the one who must be behind it, meaning if you destroy it then you're destroying a human life that He made.

Psalm 119:73

Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

Psalm 139:16

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Job 34:14-15

If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

Why would God apparently dictate that life begins at conception?

At least possibly because that is when He endows us with a soul.

So are eggs fertilized in a test tube likewise endowed with a soul?

At least possibly yes. "Possibly murder" is absolutely morally wrong.

That's my irrefutable reasoning so far. So I guess the only thing left to do is, instead of making the all-to-common mistake of taking "Christians'" word for it, investigate whether absolutely any collection of bible verses even implies (and yes, this is necessary for anything to be biblical) that life indeed starts at conception.

Why would it matter where conception takes place?

Why should I have an argument for it? To convince others? Arguments don't have that power.

Arguments are to satisfy one's pride and believing they are important is cope.
