I would be careful about Bible idolatry. Unless you're reading a Wisdom book it's not meant to be taken as a guide on how to live your life and doing so could destroy you. One of the worst offenders is matthew.

The only person who would prevent others from reading Matthew - and thereby meeting Christ - is demon possessed. I pity you fools. I really do. There's nothing that can be done here.

Read 5 psalms in the morning and 5 in the evening to get motivated.

Lack of discipline is a problem we all have to deal, there is no secret to it.

Usually about an hour.

I tend to read it when I'm tired, before I go to bed. It's a well-known study fact that you tend to retain what you just read when you sleep right after. Something about how your brain isn't bombarded with more information between the time you read and sleep, so it tends to stick in your mind better for all those hours before you wake up.

But this also a good tactic because reading is a good sleep aid, and for someone who gets bored easily, it's the perfect combo. You won't get distracted as easily when you're tired like that. And when you get to the point that you start spacing out, go to bed.

I read the bible 40 minutes on Sunday and 40 minutes on Wednesday which I think is a decent pace. You can get through the NT in that timeframe within a season. And considering Christians should read their bible for the rest of their lives doing it in small doses is perfectly fine. Don't be in a rush to read it all right away. Take your time so that you might be able to absorb what is written. It's meaningless to just punch through it in haste.

If you can only read 20 minutes without getting distracted then do so, but be sure to deal with the things that are distracting you because being distracted while reading is a sign of poor impulse control and shows that you haven't dealt with the vices that are governing you. When I used to be addicted to porn I could only read for about 20 minutes before I got agitated and distracted (which also made me horny), and I would constantly tell myself "just one more peek, I just want to see what it looks like". After I finally shook the yoke of porn off my life (took a LONG time) I began to heal and was able to sustain longer reading sessions. Nowadays my reading sessions don't make me agitated or distracted anymore and I actually look forward to them because I'm picking up on details that I missed the first time around owing to my vices. You might be in my same exact position. Take it slowly but pay attention to the vices that are distracting you.

Read 5 minutes a day and slowly build up. Pray and ask God to speak to you through it every time. There's no point in burning yourself out immediately. Get used to it.
