The Book of Common Prayer, and yes, the Bible.
And the fact that the men largely responsible for them in English were burned by you Catholics. You'll understand Protestants fully if you keep that in mind. We don't like murderers.

FYI, investigating heretical religions without permission is a mortal sin.
See "Examination of Conscious for Adults", page 5, Item 6.
Have I, without the necessary permission, read or kept or given to others forbidden books, such as Protestant Bibles, books on the "index of Prohibited Publications", books that pretend or profess to disprove the truth of the Catholic faith or profess to prove teh truth of a religion contrary to my faith?"
I supposed it is possible your parish priest may give you permission if you're in the Novus Ordo.

You seem to think that everything not said in the bible is not a sin.
The Holy Mother Church made it a sin because it leads souls to hell. Sins are what you avoid to avoid hell.

To go enter the Kingdom of God you need the Eucharist and be without Mortal and Original sin.
The Eucharist because the Lord Christ said so.
Baptism because it removes original sin.
Sacrament of Penance because it removes actual sin.
Some Protestants, like the early Lutherans and Anglicans, kept the Mass and the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance and the Eucharist. Current Church teaching is that these protestants may have salvation IF they don't know that the Catholic Church is God's one True church (and I just told you it is, so you're screwed there).
You cannot enter heaven with mortal sin on your soul. Baptism removes original sin, and the sacrament of penance removes actual sin. I know the early Lutherans and Anglicans did this.
Today? I have no idea. Many protestants, and even Novus Ordo Catholics, do baptism in false faith and don't believe the Eucharist to be the actual Sacred Flesh and Blood of the Lord Christ. These cannot get into heaven.
Sorry, consider returning to the Catholic Church.
Many other protestants have no line to the apostles at all. Thus, they cannot give the sacraments to the faithful.

The Catholic Faith is a Difficult and Narrow Path
I know, it's seductive to think you can just say "Lord Lord!" and be saved for the rest of your life.
It doesn't work like that. You know that from Scripture. Any religion that taught you this is in error and leading you to hell.
Yes, Catholics have a lot of sins. You will find it hard to give them up. Everyone goes through this! I'm finally letting go of my love of sin myself. When you think of sin, resist! Go do something else. I sometimes say "yes, I'll sin! But not right now I have to go mow the lawn, walk the dog, clean the house" or whatever. Then the temptation to sin passes. You can do this! You can take the difficult path to the One True faith. You need to let the Lord Jesus Christ lead you to heaven. Go to his church, find a good FSSP, SSPX or SSPV church and ask the priest for help.

you mean confessing to a priest? Unnecessary. The Bible says to confess our sins to one another, for sure. But is this necessary for salvation? And can a priest forgive us of our sins? Why not let God forgive us? Also, what if you’ve sinned after this sacrament and before the next one, and you die?

That's why Roman Catholics have to so stress their "last rites", they do not have assurance of salvation.

Father Cogan's Catechism is a quick read, as opposed to The Summa or "This is the Faith". It's short and too the point. It doesn't spend much time explaining why. If you just accept the teachings of the Church established by Christ and aren't looking for explanations, this is good.
I started with this Cogan's catechism and have started reading many others.

The Sacrament of Extreme Unction takes away venial sins, and mortal sins if he who is receiving the sacrament cannot confess but is repentant of their mortal sins. Otherwise mortal sin would be removed by the person making the confession. (Cogan, pg 99 question 5).
>I would live my life constantly in terror
Mortal sins, by definition, are willful. Catholicism requires that you learn to control your mind and body.
>>832608
>The Bible says to confess our sins to one another, for sure.
The Lord was talking to His Apostles when he gave them the power to forgive sins. John 20:23. "Who's sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and who's sins you shall retain, they are retained"
So, not everyone was given this power to forgive sins, just the Apostles, and the power was handed down by the Apostles in the church to Bishops and priests.
Not just anyone can forgive sins, that becomes a farce.
Also, this is a sacrament. If the priest does it in bad faith, it's nullified. e.g. two priest can't run a bank scandal and forgive each other.
> But is this necessary for salvation?
Proverbs 28:13
<He that hideth his sins, shall not prosper: but he that shall confess, and forsake them, shall obtain mercy.
You can't enter heaven with mortal sin on your soul, and the only ways of being cleansed of mortal sin is baptism (you get that once) and the sacrament of penance.
> And can a priest forgive us of our sins?
My Lord and My God said the Apostles can (John 20:23 again) and Jesus, the Highest of Most High Priests, established his Church and passed this power on to his Priests.
>Why not let God forgive us?
Bible says you can't hid your sins and you must confess your sins (Proverbs 28:13 again)
>Also, what if you’ve sinned after this sacrament and before the next one, and you die?
I know, huh! Best to learn to control yourself and not commit any mortal sins. If you do, say an act of contrition and make a note of them so you can confess them as soon as possible.

Catholics get an indulgence for reading the Bible, so the reply to Op is based on an error - Catholics read the Bible, we just get the Church to tell us what it means or we will not understand it, like… protestants don't understand.
Second part, throwing out random scripture and pretending it references the Holy Mother Church is just another error.
The Popes start with Saint Peter, then Saint Linus, then Saint Anacletus etc. It gets a little muddled with the three Popes thing, but it's all been sorted out. Thus, the claim that the Holy Mother Church sprang out of the Roman Empire around 500 AD is an unsupported claim that, given facts, doesn't appear to have any truth.

Hi friend, thanks for the visit.
I would start with Martin Luther. His commentary on Galatians is a great start - nothing better outlines the "saved by faith" doctrine then this one.
Also check out the Ausburg Confession (short), the Apology for the Ausburg confession. That's the first true Protestant confession and, although others moved away from a lot of the stuff there, it has the important stuff.
Calvin isn't a bad choice, the institutes are pretty sick and intellectual, but the Lutheran confessions are a little bit better and a little bit easier on the mind. Calvin's institutes can be a lot to take on and they have some batty stuff.
Martin Luther has a lot of audiobooks on YouTube, such as "On Christian Liberty" "The SmalClad Articles" etc. You'll find a lot of great stuff there.

The Protestant churches have two founders:
Martin Luther, who wanted to sin and believed he could sin and be saved because of faith alone.
And King Henry VIII, who wanted to sin by being a serial polygamist.
My church was founded by the Lord Jesus Christ upon Saint Peter, then Saint Linus, and threw many Popes right up to Pope Pius XII.
Catholic reject sin, follow the Biblical instruction to confess to an Apostle (priest), repent of our sin, and love and Obey Christ.
Protestants may love the idea of salvation, but they feel no need to follow the words of Christ, reject his church and any teaching of Christ that tells them to stop sinning.
This, flat out, is why the Catholic Church is the One True Church
