You can think that, but often the geography or weather of many areas just aren't optimal for certain goods or economies. Lands aren't created equally. Also, timing and seizing opportunities is a huge part of one's success. That goes for the average individual on the street to a whole nation. To make matters worse, Catholics tended to have command economies for centuries, where everything was run top down from noble/royal decree. Any idiot on top could make a bad choice and it'd have a domino effect on all of the citizens and be catastrophic for traders.
The main positive is that Catholics weren't usurers. So I'm not trying to be totally negative.

So now the devil has a special kind of hatred for her.

Also the devil likes that people think of him the antagonist of God, which elevates his status from mere creature. But if you lower him to his due status, the fallen equivalent of Mary, he loses that which fuels his pride.
So he goes around doing everything he can to make people disdain Mary.

Demons want you to worship Mary instead of Jesus. The divine feminine is present in many babylonian religions (i.e. all false religion) and is associated with Satan.
Mary isn't divine, she is simply blessed, and she wasn't always a virgin and she admitted her need of a savior in the Bible. Maybe if you read the Bible you'd know the true 10 commandments of the bible and Mary rejoicing in having a savior.

Also nobody said she is the messiah that overcame the grave, those are just hyperbolic misconceptions of your creation. The saints intercede as the elders interceded for the centurion to Christ. Christ found that most pleasing since it was a show of extreme humility.
The prayers of the righteous are more effective as the bible tells us so its in our best interest not to disdain the righteous by calling it idolatry.
