Do you all get angry with stupid people abusing your holy book?

I noticed it a lot with the gay qoute.

"It's in the Bible not to be gay."

But they fall apart when you ask for the passage, context, translation, or even what version of the Bible they read.

Recently with corona a lot of dentheads on campus have been claiming it's in the Bible that a plague will come. Yeah, right after the seven headed beast and a plague of flying horses with the faces of humans. But then they clap back with "well it's open to interpretation."

It's amazing how many Christians haven't read the Bible but say they live by it.

Romans 1.

Context: homosexuals being given over to their fleshly desires and engaging in an abominable act.

Translation: everyone wanting to be faithful to God.

Version: CSB.

Plague? Take a cursory glance at revelation.

No.

Most of them totally misunderstand it when they read it. They come away with everything from total passiveness to bashing little kids heads against the rocks in wars of conquest. They get everything from absolute celibacy to impregnating their daughters rather than spill their seed.

Revelation seems particularly ripe for abuse.

I've heard that people are rejecting vaccines through freedom of religion, but I don't know how Mosaic law could be stretched into that. It's because they're saying vaccines are the "mark of the beast," isn't it?

Friend, it took five seconds for me to search the internet "biblical reasons to reject vaccines," which returned in the first paragraph of the first article:

> Some pro-life parents cite a moral disgust and a deep lament over the use of 58-year-old aborted fetal cell lines in development for several recommended immunizations, including MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) and chickenpox.

Yes, sodomist acts are evil. Many common heterosexual acts are also evil.

Many evil things that are done today are not explicitly mentioned in the Bible in any case. In the sense of "letter of the law" versus "spirit of the law," one ought to follow the clear spirit of the law in this case: not for any fear (necessarily), but for the purpose of being aligned with the Good, not evil (the lack of the Good).

Sure, a lot of campus "Jesus freaks" go a bit far. They are still growing in their walk. Give 20-something-to-30-something year olds something to be somewhat blindly passionate about in the loony world that is a university/college campus and you get very interesting results.

… is this entire thread a trolling thread?

That kind of extreme variance is not good. That means subverters have slipped in doctrines that are the direct opposite of the original rules laid out in the Bible. Whether or not you agree with the Catholic interpretation the truth is there is only ONE true interpretation of the Bible and any scripture that goes against it is corrupted.

I was referring to categorical rejection of vaccines if that wasn't clear from the topic of this thread. I've heard both the coronavirus itself and its future vaccine called marks of the beast, and I've heard stories of people rejecting flu vaccines on religious grounds.

>Kunta kinte says he lives by the wisdom of the tribal elders, but he falls apart when asked to cite the specific verse, context, translation, and what version of the elders' wisdom he read.

Amazing how many people claim to live according to the wisdom of oral tradition but have never read it. Also amazing how many internet brainlets think that an inability to prove one's position at the arbitrary whim of the questioner is proof that the position is unjustified.

Also mandatory reminder that Jesus never said ANYTHING against felony home invasion.

It's almost like the Bible is just a part of Church tradition and not the totality of it, or that the faith predates the Bible and so can't be wholly contingent on it.

I agree. In the Catholic church there is one well reasoned interpretation of the Bible, reality and the teachings of the Apostles.

You find many ill educated Catholics, but there is one Catholic teaching and one Catholic faith.

Among the protestants, there is everything from banning homosexuals to homosexual marriage; they're all over. It seems like if someone wants something different, BAM! A new denomination is created.

All these contradictions CAN'T be right.

OTOH, Catholicism works, ergo there is truth there.

>You find many ill educated Catholics

That's what worries me. Things that were implicit but common knowledge like kikes being edomites are no longer common knowledge so we might see severe subversion of Catholic nations in the near future. Protestants are mostly further along than us in this path of corruption since homosexuality is now often allowed in their churches, but I think sects like Christian Identity which make the implicit explicit might have a better chance of surviving since if you're a fag or a zionist you're just explicitly contradicting CI and everyone knows it lmao. Catholicism continuing to follow the path of the prots and becoming nebulous instead of specific will destroy the church as we know it and if it does that would mean those implicit but rarely mentioned doctrines were actually the real spirit of the one true church and the explicit politically correct ones everyone preached never mattered or even worse were evil.
