What's your opinion on the voluntary (and in some areas involuntary) suspension of church services?

It seems most clergy are fine with this, and a lot are moving to online sermons to compensate, but something doesn't sit right with me about this whole situation.

Are there any passages in scripture referring to something similar (believers prevented from meeting, but their right to individual worship not directly infringed upon)?

The general consensus is that Christians should follow the laws of their country unless they interfere with God's law/ability to worship God. Should this pandemic be considered a situation in which Christians should defy the law, and meet together anyway?

Don't tempt the Lord, mate.

If the coronavirus is so infectious, and the state and church both consider not overruning the medical system the most helpful thing we can do, listen to them.

We aren't like during the late roman empire plagues, where we didn't have specialized medical corps for this stuff, so any volunteer nursing and preaching was helpful.

No, because the worry is legitimate

my local bishop dispensed of Sunday obligation, but we still have to do our private devotion in fulfillment of God's commandment

The FSSP are obedient to the local Novus Ordo Bishops (they're not allowed Bishops of their own). The Archbishop shut down all local masses and dispensed the Sunday obligation.

You can watch a Latin Rite Mass here:

I've found that this website works with Microsoft Edge web browser, but not Firefox.

Remember, pray the rosary at least once a day and the Angelus at noon.

restrictions put on churches seem exaggerated imo

like, where i live there's enough space for about 40 people including recommended 2m spacing between them, provided they wouldn't pile up on the exit after the mass, yet laws are being passed that effectively prohibit people from attending masses at all

it's like (((they))) are moving goalposts and hope people will give up expressing faith because of some irrational health scare

i bet they ban cash in a month just to disable churches from weekly funding

I admit the tendency of the godless heathens to blame religion and the religious is tiresome.

My dear pagan "wife" keeps ranting about this or that MSM report about a protestant denomination that still meets and shakes hands. She gleefully hopes for their death and suffering.

I've skimmed social media and found that is not an unpopular view.

I disagree. Certain unjust laws should not be followed, and I don't mean just "anti-worship" laws.

>Should this pandemic be considered a situation in which Christians should defy the law, and meet together anyway?

This crisis seems to have been manufactured by the elites in order to strenghten their totalitarian grip on society, and persecuting churches does seem to be on their agenda.

So one is tempted to "go to church" in a gesture of defiance. But the virus might well be as contagious and lethal as the media is saying, so a few weeks of isolation would probably be more prudent. But this is not about following or defying the law - it's about choosing the least harmful course of action.

Okay, wait.

The issues presented within the first few paragraphs is related to viral testing. This is echoed in later pages. This may rather be explained by China intentionally sending defective Coronavirus test kits to multiple countries, rather than any intentional misinformation on what the virus is.

But the real problem, for me, is that there's no way countries really are hurting their economies for something like this. I mean if it was just normal people its fine, but I'm pretty sure that shutting down factories and harming the stock market harms billionaires too.

Following that, this whole ordeal has damaged trust in the international entity WHO which many people have criticized for not doing enough.

The pieces don't fit together. Why?

Looking over the author's page, it seems he's a left-wing crackpot.

For crying out loud, for most of the links in that page, my browser doesn't even want to enter them, since they are malware'd to high heavsns.
