Even though this virus is pretty much a nothing burger, the people in charge and the media are hyping the perception of it into a world threatening event, and the panic caused by that perception turns it into something much worse.
They're using this virus as a method to control the populous through fear and paranoia. This is what is meant by Rev 6:2. The control they are seizing right now is just the beginning of their conquest, and it will naturally lead into the other three, war, famine and death.
