If the roman catholic excuse for performing prayers to dead saints is as intercession, why are you writing out a prayer as a post for public view? Is it a virtue signal?

It's a signal of zeal, deliberate or not, because it's a contentious topic here.
There's a difference between suggesting a prayer or praying alongside someone and using an OP as a medium of prayer, which is apparently what's happening here.

I personally think it's a waste of a thread to open one with a prayer. But I don't think there's nothing wrong with that and you shouldn't presume ill-intentions. Brother anon wanted to express himself in prayer and he did so, you can pick up his intention and prayer alongside him, or you can uncharitable presume his intentions for whatever reason.

James 5 instructs us to pray for one another. It's that simple. Our Lord grants us eternal life and the Saints are already reunited with Him, so it is perfectly licit to ask for them to pray for us. How is any of this paganism? Beats me. But online protestants do love to insist on their outdated polemics for whatever reason.
Also, the orthodox traditions don't observe the Holy Scriptures as the only authoritative source, we also observe Sacred Tradition and the Councils.

Where does James instruct you to pray to saints though? Where does he say to build statues, leave offerings and instead of going directly to God to go to these saints who have passed on? Where does James say that those in heaven are hearing our prayers?
The problem is, orthodox/catholic, for all their virtues, have a lot of vices because they love to read more into something than is there, and refuse to ask questions as to why others have problems with it. My main goal in life is to serve God and see him glorified. How is God glorified if we pray to someone other than him? Do you think those saints suddenly gain the ability to hear every prayer made to them? That sounds like something God alone would have the power of.

Starting in genesis we have God telling Abraham to pray for that dude that wanted to steal his wife instead of telling the man to pray for his own soul. This means the prayers of those closer to God interceding for you are more efficacious than your own.
Also the centurion asks his friends in good standing to intercede to Christ in his stead finding himself not worthy, this was most pleasing to Him as it was a show of humility.
There are more examples of this and calls for intercession prayer. The verse before the famous 'there is one mediator between God and man' literally calls for intercession prayer for all meaning this doesnt circumvent Christ but glorifies Him as we see in the centurion verse.
Now one can say that those people were alive so it doesnt count as asking a saint in the afterlife.
But in revelations we have the prayers of the saints(Christians) being offered up to God by the elders. ITs unanimous that those elders arent angels so they can only be holy men(Saints) offering prayers of the people to God. Their particular identities or other symbolism they represent doesnt matter to the case.
Then we have the Lazarus and the rich man story where Abraham is appealed to while being dead.
Paul prays for the dead in Timothy.
PEter and Jesus when rising the dead talk to their dead spirit and make them rise meaning that God allowed the dead to be reached.
Saul pleads to dead Samuel and God allows Samuel to speak to Saul albeit Saul used a witch. Witches have no power and cant force the dead to speak, normally they speak to demons who pretend to be dead souls, but God did allow Samuel to go and scold Saul further.
Then there's the examples in Maccabees but that's another autistic discussion.
Then there's the fruit of such practices. If asking for the help of saints was an occult practice instead of something that gives glory to God we'd see countless people being possessed all the time as it would mean our civilization kept practicing witchcraft for 2 millenniums. Giving such power to the devil would mean that our civilization would quickly have adopted practices that we only see nowadays that Christianity is waning, like child sacrifice, sodomy, fornication etc. Yet our morals were always zealously Christian.
Also a civilization of witches would have fizzled down instead of prospering and conquering the world.

>Now one can say that those people were alive so it doesnt count as asking a saint in the afterlife.
One does say that because it's the truth
No Protestant objects to intercessory prayer in the Biblical example.
>But in revelations we have the prayers of the saints(Christians) being offered up to God by the elders
This is not an example of the living praying to the dead for intercession
>Lazarus
>Paul praying for (not to) the dead
>Miracles
Not equivalent
>Saul pleads to dead Samuel and God allows Samuel to speak to Saul albeit Saul used a witch.
Exactly the reason why many Protestants call your practice divinization
As with infant baptism there is no example of praying for intercessory prayer to the dead. Whether it has pagan origin or not doesn't matter, it's wrong.
>fruit of such practices. If asking for the help of saints was an occult practice instead of something that gives glory to God we'd see countless people being possessed all the time as it would mean our civilization kept practicing witchcraft for 2 millenniums.
That's not our argument and it's an argument from silence.
>Yet our morals were always zealously Christian.

You are highjacking a thread and derailing the opening topic with the same old protestant "objections". You are already introducing even more protestant "objections" in your post. It's all so tiresome.
All your "objections" have already been competently answered in basic Catholic apologetics, you don't need to derail threads with the same things over and over again. Make your own thread if you want.

Oh Mary, mother of Perpetual help, thou knowest so well the value of an immortal soul.
Thou knowest what it means, that every soul has been redeemed by the Blood of thy Divine Son.
Thou wilt not then despise my prayer if I ask from thee the conversion of these sinners, nay great sinners, who are rapidly hurrying on to eternal ruin.
O good and merciful Mother, know well their irregular life.
Remember that thou art the Refuge of Sinners; remember that God has given thee power to bring about the conversion of even the most wretched sinners.
All that has been done for their souls has been unsuccessful; if thou wilt not come to their assistance, they will go from bad to worse.
Obtain for them the effectual grace that they may be moved and brought back to God and to their duties.
Send them, if necessary, temporal calamities and trials, that they may enter into themselves and put an end to their sinful course.
Thou, oh merciful Mother, hast converted so many sinners through thine intersession , at the prayers to thee of their friends.
Be then moved by my prayer, and bring these unhappy souls to true conversion of the heart.
Oh Mother of Perpetual help, design to show that thou art the Advocate and Refuge of sinners.
So I hope, so it may be.
Amen.

Oh blessed Saint Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful guardian of Jesus, chase spouse of the Mother of God, we pray and beseech thee to offer to God the Father His Divine Son, bathed in blood on the cross for sinners, and through the thrice Holy Name of Jesus, obtain for us from the Eternal Father the favor we implore: The comfort, health and shelter of those who lost their homes in fire.
Appease the Divine Anger so justly inflamed by our crimes; beg Jesus mercy for thy children.
Amid the splenders of eternity, forget not the sorrows of those who suffer, those who pray, those who weep.
Stay the Almighty arm which smites us, that by thy prayers and those of thy most holy spouse, the Heart of Jesus may be moved to pity and pardon. Amen
Saint Joseph, pray for us.

I'm suffering from mental illness such as depression and anxiety. I feel lost.. I feel betrayed. I feel like I'm stuck, and someone or something is constantly counting the things I do..
I'm over my head with demon, tulpa, egregore and I'd like to exercise them AWAY. If I could have someone pray in my alm, that would sway the demon away and that would be great. I'd like to return to a regular life. Thank you, bless you.

yes it is. Ever notice how the names of gods/demons keep changing? remphan/moloch/cronos/saturn/satan/marduk, etc. Humans are humans. We don't become intercessors between God and man upon our death. When you pray to a human some demon answers. The Catholics have appropriated the names of the dead and applied them to demons so that rank and file Catholics will worship demons without even knowing it.
