>Why?
Because it's not just
Romans 3:23 and 6:23
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death.
We all deserve death, but the Lord offers grace to those who believe
John 1:12&13
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
If God didn't perfectly punish sin, He wouldn't be just. The only way to be spared from damnation is by the imputed righteousness of Christ. If someone doesn't have that righteousness, they reside in Hell after death.
>14:6 says Jesus is the only one who could do it. There, specifically, it isn't even implied that you have to believe Him.
You're misreading the verbs
<No one comes to the Father except through Me.
<Except through me, no one comes to the Father
What does "through me" mean? The gospel
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
So to recap, John 3:16 teaches salvation by belief, John 14:6 teaches the exclusivity of this belief as belief in Jesus. These aren't the only proofs of these doctrines, but I think they're the clearest.
