and the subject of church happened to come up and he said "being judged for what you do and don't believe is just silly." And I thought "well when you put it that way…" so I perused the bible and it occurred to me that no where does it say "only if you have faith in Christ will you be saved." There's a lot of "if you have faith in Christ you will be saved," and there's "No one comes to the Father except through me," John 14:6, but there is not anywhere implied "only belief in Jesus will save you." While it's pretty clear no one can earn their way to heaven, getting in to heaven despite not believing Jesus is never implied to be impossible, e.g. Jesus, who's still very much alive, could decide someone gets in despite never having believed in Him. Prove me wrong.

Are there any Protestant denominations that have arrive at the same conclusion, that faith in Jesus is necessary to know one is saved, and sufficient but not strictly necessary for actual salvation?

>"being judged for what you do and don't believe is just silly."

I guess it's silly of me to judge trannies for believing chromosomes don't matter.

I guess it's silly of me to judge flat earthers for believing in cosmic pancakes.

I guess it's silly of me to judge Wahabi Muslims for slaughtering their own countrymen.

I guess it's silly of me to judge faggot liberal "Christians" for believing that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for being "unhospitable."

I guess it's silly of me to judge Marxists for believing it's okay to "punch nazis."

I guess it's silly of me to judge pedophiles for believing that children have the ability to consent.

I guess it's silly of me to judge Jews for believing that Jesus was a blasphemer.

What you believe has consequences whether you like it or not.

>Are there any Protestant denominations that have arrive at the same conclusion

By definition they would no longer be Protestant or even Christian. Ephesians 2:8

<For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

If you want something church-flavored that isn't Christianity, go become a universalist or a Scientologist or something. Or heck, go attend one of those mega churches–they're actually just overglorified community centers anyway. You'd feel right at home.

>Jesus, who's still very much alive, could decide someone gets in despite never having believed in Him. Prove me wrong.

You're right, he could, but he doesn't. It would be a contradiction of God's justice.

>but there is not anywhere implied "only belief in Jesus will save you."

That's what John 14:6 means

There's unitariam universalism which is a cult that formed out of liberal protestantism

Chromosomes were created by Satan to tempt Christians into committing the sin of intolerance.

Why is intolerance of sin a sin?

> by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

>not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

We're not saved by us.

>it is the gift of God

Salvation is a gift.

>and that not of yourselves

We're not saved by us.

If you have faith, you are saved.

Again, ~((p->q)->(q->p)) To think it does is called a converse fallacy. God knows this. He knows what is communicated. Your fallacious interpretation is irrelevant.

>You'd feel right at home.

Kill yourself, idiot. You're too stupid to have anything even resembling faith.

>>829049

>It would be a contradiction of God's justice.

Why?

>That's what John 14:6 means

14:6 says Jesus is the only one who could do it. There, specifically, it isn't even implied that you have to believe Him.

>>829056

>Why?

Because it's not just

Romans 3:23 and 6:23

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death.

We all deserve death, but the Lord offers grace to those who believe

John 1:12&13

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

If God didn't perfectly punish sin, He wouldn't be just. The only way to be spared from damnation is by the imputed righteousness of Christ. If someone doesn't have that righteousness, they reside in Hell after death.

>14:6 says Jesus is the only one who could do it. There, specifically, it isn't even implied that you have to believe Him.

You're misreading the verbs

<No one comes to the Father except through Me.

<Except through me, no one comes to the Father

What does "through me" mean? The gospel

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

So to recap, John 3:16 teaches salvation by belief, John 14:6 teaches the exclusivity of this belief as belief in Jesus. These aren't the only proofs of these doctrines, but I think they're the clearest.

>Your fallacious interpretation is irrelevant.

I didn't provide an interpretation. I quoted the verse.

>Again, ~((p->q)->(q->p)) To think it does is called a converse fallacy.

Did you go all the way to wikipedia to fetch that just for me? I'm flattered.

>Kill yourself, idiot.

Check yourself before you Shrek yourself, baka-senpai.

>You're too stupid to have anything even resembling faith.

You're just mad that I won't tolerate your theological liberalism.

I wasn't joking, by the way. A mega church is exactly what you're looking for. They're entertaining, they make you feel good, they get you pumped, you get a "religious experience", and they usually even have free refreshments! They will never, ever ask you to make a profession of faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior. They don't care; all they want is your money and your attendance, so it's a win-win.
