>A priest in Rhode Island, Reverend Richard Bucci, made national headlines last week by banning lawmakers who supported the state's abortion rights bill from receiving communion at his parish.

>The 72-year-old priest recently passed out fliers to parishioners listing the names of all 44 members of the legislature who voted for the Reproductive Privacy Act , which was signed into law last spring.

>This statement didn't sit well with State Representative Carol Hagan McEntee, a Democrat who championed Rhode Island's law to extend the statute of limitations for child sex abuse survivors.

>"The Catholic Church needs to take a look at themselves and ask why they are closing churches and losing worshipers," Casimiro wrote in a statement to CBS News.

>In the immediate aftermath of distributing the flier, Bucci told the Providence Journal that local lawmakers were upset because their names and votes were made public: "If they are proud of what they have done, why do they want to keep it a secret?"

Taking a stand against abortion is good, but why aren't these people just excommunicated?

The article seems to try to spin him as defending pedophilia, I'm not sure what the original context was. As morbid as it is, abortion is literally killing a child and pedophilia, while unacceptable, is not.

Roman Catholic clergy need to be extra cautious when commenting on sexual crimes, especially in New England.

>pedophilia doesn't kill anyone

there had to be suicides and fatal drug use stemming from the RC priest's sexual abuse

The cycle of pain and self-destruction it creates..

I had a distant cousin who turned out to have been a victim as a boy. He was studying to be a priest himself as he grew up… then it turned out he had AIDS and died (this was during the earlier AIDS scare, when it was even less treated). I'm not convinced he was "born that way". His faults are his own, but I believe he was also a victim.

>emphasizes how bad it is by saying pedophilia isn't as bad as abortion

Was it autism?

The catholic church should be banned.

I would worry about the souls of the children who come to hate the church because of the sins of a pedophile Priests, and thus lose Heaven.

A big step towards a solution is to reverse the current heresy of allowing Holy Orders for homosexuals. That would reduce the problem by 85%.

They're also having classes for Children now to tell them to report pedophile priests.

It's as common in the protestant Churches as it is in the Catholic. The Satanic Globalist hate the Catholic Church so their media keeps incidences of catholic abuse in everyone's face. You should worry that the Satanic Globalist don't hate the Protestants at all…

They don't hate the old/mainline Protestants. They definitely hate Evangelicals, who are constantly ridiculed as stupid.

But it's some of the Evangelicals… Oh, what's that Pastor's name… who are 100% Zionist and say that we as a country must go kill innocents for Israel.

The old Catholic Church, before Vatican II reversed it all, told the faithful to shun Jews and that Jews killed Christ

I think some of those are CIA plants. I know that sounds far fetched, but there are some strange origins with some of those churches. And you didn't hear much about this Zionist angle in the Evangelical churches until mid-20th century/a little before. There was dispensationalism/Darbyism in some wings, but even that wasn't the large phenomena it now is.

So what you're saying is that protestant churches should be banned too? No objections from me.

Evangelicals are an absolute meme and near heretics where I live. Is it different in the U.S.?

It is church teaching to deny communion to anyone the priest knows is an unrepentant sinner, because taking the sacrament of the Holy Eurcharist while not in a state of Sanctifying Grace is a mortal sin, and it would be a mortal sin of the Priest if he gave the sinner that sacrament knowing they're in a state of mortal sin.

Technically, the same would be true of any sinner who the priest knows has not repented and confessed, not just abortion (murder)

This is the interview everybody talks about but nobody links to. Notice how there is no context or even a question heard before they conveniently show the most outrageous 3 second clip they could find.

But even if we take what he said at face value and pretend the journalists interpreted it correctly, is anything he claimed actually wrong?

I just sounds like they used a heavily targeted question to get him to say some bad words and then shove him into a bad light for money and internet-points
