Got into an argument with a guy from Kik, he told me that I was wrong for some insane reason. I show him pieces of holy scripture from the book of 2 Thess., and he tells me and I quote
>paul doesnt decide what is and isnt a sin
Like, honestly, how do you even debate against someone who doesnt believe Paul's works were inspired

Ask them where they think the authority of the Bible came from and what criteria they use to define inspired scripture.

Someone once told me that Paul's writings are the "talmud of the new testament".

Well prots are heretics after all. They literally pick and choose what they believe instead of submitting to God.

Has it yet dawned on you that most within the Sola Scriptura crowd don't actually follow or even believe everything written in the Bible? They cherrypick verses they like and disregard the rest. I recall a funny moment from a Bible study I was part of when I was Protestant:
>be me
>at bible study
>(female) group leader asks us to flip to 1 corinthians 11
>leader asks me to start reading
>start reading aloud the verses about the head of every woman being man, how women should cover their heads, etc.
>group leader interrupts, saying she only wanted me to read the first verse
>tells everyone to not follow anything paul said after that
Don't even get me started on most Protestants' awkward relationship with the Old Testament. Martin Luther might as well have shortened the Protestant Bible to two verses; "judge not" and "love thy neighbor".

Or how they act as though paul saying that we are saved by faith doesnt mean we are not also saved by works, as Jame's the brother of Iesus wrote. Cherry picking at its finest

And here almost everyone in the thread is referring to all Protestants as ignoring Paul, when in reality it’s it’s Europeans and some evangelicals.

OP, that last time i checked, the Bible is God's word, not Paul's. Paul has no authority over God. Paul did not decide what a sin is. God decided what makes something a sin. Then God used Paul to pen His word. Nothing in the Bible is orginal to the writers of the books. They wrote the books under devine intervention.

Well yes, but still the writings of Paul are infallible, as he was inspired by the holy spirit

Not just Paul but Acts and the other epistles too.
>Show me where Jesus said it

Protip: nothing Paul says is new. Literally. There is a reason why he's not considered a prophet. There's nothing wrong with that, and he was certainly holy and the apostle to the gentiles. But everything Paul says can be traced to either the gospel or to the old testament, which he knew back to front. So if someone says that they don't like Paul, cross reference the epistle to either the gospel or to the old testament and show them that.
One more thing: Jesus was way harsher than Paul in his language. 90% of all references to hell in the entire bible are from Jesus. Those who hate Paul usually hate the old testament he references.

1000% this
Heretics hate St. Paul and what he wrote because heretics hate God and everything He has done for us.

Sounds like you won the argument OP. Denial of Paul’s athority is a denial of most of the New Testament books and therefore Christianity as a whole.
Jews and Muslims believe that Paul was the “corrupter” of Christianity, so if someone shares this denial of his authority they’re being more Jewish/Muslim thsn Christian.
