The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Lets talk email!

Western society becomes more hostile towards Christians each year. Merely failing to "affirm" satanic lies about gender and sex will jeopardize your career and the law in many nations. The largest denominations are seeing open conflict between observant practitioners and governmentally-supported "reformists", who will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat if you witness for Christ in public. Expect your emails to be weaponized, if push comes to shove.

Who do you think is the best email provider, for one who is concerned about maintaining privacy?

I see Protonmail is already proud to violate the privacy of what it feels are hate groups. Tutanota now asks for password reset permissions that could open backdoors for compromise. Yandex sounds promising, from the little that I've heard.

Thoughts/suggestions greatly appreciated!

VPN and pseudo-anonymous email name?

Where are you that is so hostile that private communications are also censured by law?

It doesn't really matter about where he is right now. What matters is in 5 years the cultural shift could be strong enough that what's now perceived as acceptable will be seen as a problem to whichever power in charge. By then op will have 5 years of emails that will be used against him. This applies to everyone in the world.

Also there's no such thing as private communications on the Internet, unless you're in a closed circuit (which is not the Internet)

Yeah, I'm looking forward and not liking where things seem to be going. I know it's a losing battle, but I think we can all agree that it's a good idea to make it as time consuming and expensive for hostile parties to ruin your life as possible.

Just because I'm not funding abortion clinic bombers doesn't mean that some zealot couldn't find something to use to neutralize me if it came down to it.

Look what happened to Lifesite.

Inasmuch as we were Biblically warned to expect persecution to the extreme, it seems warranted to make yourself as antifragile as possible.

….don't YOU guys watch your step on the web?

I'm hosting my own email, on a small VPS in Russia. I haven't had to touch my config at all since I set it up, nearly 3 years ago. No issues and great that I have unlimited email addresses from my domain. Now, this is not full proof secure, as the VPS provider could potentially get my data if they wanted to, but apart from that it's at least outside of the reach of big tech etc. You might want to look into it.

Personal hosting is really hit and miss since you're not whitelisted and many email services will just mark you as spam. It's also important to remember that even if everything is secure and spy-proof on your side, the person you're communicating with likely is not. If you're sending an email to a gmail account Google can see it as much as they want. Personally I use protonmail and I think the account deletion thing is blown out of proportion. There was only one case where someone's email was delete because they put it on fliers that were controversial and so they shut it down. It wasn't a case of them screening emails or anything. If you want to be extra careful you can encrypt your emails manually before sending and have the receiver unencrypt them manually. This is not great if you're applying for a job or anything business related.

I've had to track security issues with web services before, and I notice a lot of botnet clients use a @yandex.ru domain. I know nothing about this email provider but they are apparently laissez-faire enough to let anyone do anything they want with the service. It's at least something to look into.

The bottom line is there's no golden solution and you're at the mercy of the cultural climate and service hosts. Push for societal change and bring the word of the Lord back to the forefront of people's minds so we don't have to worry about free speech and persecution anymore.
