Por qué no compraba los cartuchos nomás? A cuánto estaban los cartuchos de la Family? No se supone que eran mucho más baratos que los cartuchos de la NES original? No era ese el punto de que fuera una consola pirata?

En esa epoca no se sabia que el Family era trucho. O sea, cuando estas en la primaria ni pensas en esas cosas. Yo me acuerdo cuando vi el NES y vi que eran los mismos juegos de family, pense, "que al pedo, es mas grande y mas cara pero es lo mismo", pero no se me paso por la cabeza pensar que el family era pirata, me fui dando cuenta despues.
Sobre el alquiler, yo calculo que un cartucho de family rondaba los 15 o 20 pesos, depende el lugar donde lo compres, seguramente habria por 10 o 5 pesos tambien, pero en su auge yo me tiraria mas por 20 y hasta 30 pesos los lugares mas careros.
Y acordate que en esa epoca 1 peso valia, si podias alquilar por 1 peso en vez de comprar por 10 o 20 pesos era un monton de diferencia. Además habia toda una mística en alquilar un juego, digamos, SOUL. Despues llego blockbuster y medio que alquilar se volvio SOULLESS, aparte que ya en esa epoca estaba a full la pirateria de play, que ahi si ya era mas barato comprar copias en vez de alquilar, o directamente quemar vos mismo los CD-Rs.

A mi me gustaba tomarte mi tiempo con los juegos, incluso cuando era chico y tenía tiempo para jugar todo el día. No era una carrera de pasarlo rápido en el día y olvidarme. Cuando tenía la play 1 volvía a jugar juegos viejos que ya había pasado meses antes. Me parece un poco triste esa mentalidad (sobre todo por el hecho de que conseguís los truchos a una porción del precio de los originales). Entiendo que la NES tenía juegos mucho más simples pero también tenia juegos largos. Había muchos RPG, e incluso algunos de pseudoaventura, de los que vas a perder el save al alquilar de vuelta porque están atados al cartucho.

Tiene sentido, pero 3 días me parece una barbaridad de corto de tiempo. Si era una semana te entiendo más. Quizá ayudó bastante el hecho de que la mayoría eran juegos muy simples y cortos.

Igual depende el videoclub tambien, y si querias te lo quedabas mas tiempo (despues pagabas los dias extra). Pero 3 dias me parece ideal a mi, es un fin de semana.
Igual en mi caso, la mayoria de las veces no podia pasar todo el juego, siempre llegaba a algun nivel jodido que me tiraba game over y me hacia empezar desde el principio, lo cual llevaba a rejugar los primeros niveles pero ya con mas experiencia y volver a intentarlo. A veces lograba pasar algun juego y estaba buenisimo, pero no era un requisito, solamente me importaba jugar, aunque eso signifique jugar los mismos niveles una y otra vez.
Despues tambien capaz habia revistas con cheats o passwords y ahi si hacias lo que querias con el juego.
Tambien tenia mis propios cartuchos de family a los que jugaba mucho, pero a la vez alquilaba (era mucho mas facil convencer a tus viejos que te alquilen un juego a $1, que te compren uno a $15, o lo que sea que valgan).
Los juegos tipo RPG o los de aventura no eran muy comun de ver en family, cosas como final fantasy y dragon warrior nunca las vi para family game, esos si eran exclusivos de NES, y venian con la bateria para salvar y todo, en family olvidate. Lo que si recuerdo es jugar al Captain Tsubasa de family, que es un RPG medio raro y encima en japones, y llegue bastante lejos, a base de probar diferentes comandos al azar y memorizarme las letras japonesas.
