El tema de la música religiosa hoy por hoy es que la educación musical general de la población cayó muchísimo. Tener un tipo que pueda tocar más o menos un teclado electrónico en una iglesia ya es bastante complicado, tener un organista (el órgano verdadero, el de tubos y pedalera) serio que se haya especializado en música litúrgica ni te digo.
Los misales viejos tenían lindas canciones. Una de las que más me gustan es Señor del Orbe (para la fiesta de Cristo Rey): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r4FAui9O6w
La melodía basada en un viejo himno alemán para la Pascua llamado Christ ist Erstanden (Cristo se ha erguido). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7m713y4xN8
Sobre Christ ist Erstanden Lutero hizo un himno llamado "Christ lag in Todes Banden" (Cristo yacía amortajado), que Bach adaptó en una cantata alucinante.

De hecho Bach hizo diversas versiones tanto de Christ ist Erstanden como de Christ lag in Todes Banden. Pero todas esas melodías se generaron a partir de una secuencia medieval para la Misa de Pascua llamada "Victimae paschali laudes" (alabanzas a la víctima pascual)

Es una melodía que me gusta por toda la historia que tiene y por cómo se fue desarrollando en diferentes idiomas. La había escuchado en misas de chico acá, de adulto una vez que estaba en Alemania en Pascuas también la escuché y me caí de culo. Con el tiempo me fui enterando de dónde venía.
