Found as a kitten, near my place. He was infected with FVR but didn't fear my approach so I'm pretty certain he was born at someone's place and abandoned.
As you can see he's a strapping young lad. Meows like a kitten though.

He's three years old now, though less than one in the first two pics I believe. His meow is still very high pitched, but as a kitten I straight up couldn't hear him, he must have had a literal ultrasound voice.
Otherwise he's healthy and affectionate, just a bit clumsy at times.

Black cats usually are quite affectionate and loyal most of the time. My friend's black cat will follow me round their house and go for walks but doesn't like pets. He will however jump up in bed with you and sleep at your feet.

Indoor, declawed cat being kept in an unheated garage in the middle of winter. I scooped her up, shoved her in my jacket and walked ten miles through the snow home. Took her months to warm up to me, but she came around and we were best friends for years.

You sound like my mother. She always had that "let their instincts run free, maan" attitude too. And I get it, it sounds reasonable until you consider
>The cats adapt to indoor environments well if properly socialized, only cats used to outdoors need the outdoors
>Safety
>By favoring your cats' wild nature you are wreaking absolute fucking havoc on the local wildlife
Seriously, the impact on birds is no joke. Cats are predators way too efficient for nature to handle a population of them aided by human presence.
Though if you don't feed her at all and she hunts by necessity, I guess that should mostly normalize her impact.

>My cat is just fine sleeping some nights outside with fucking cougars calling in the distance, and she's still going 10 years strong.
Yeah, and one day she won't come back the next morning, or the morning after, or after a month. Then you will get to wonder how exactly did she die? Ran over by a car? Tortured to death by a nigger? Maybe she got mauled by a nigger, retreated somewhere dark and lonely and died wondering where the fuck was her owner when she needed him.
The keyword here is "cat", singular. I don't think single cats left alone all day locked in an apartment while the owner goes to work and has a life are particularly happy or active. So the obvious choice is to get a couple siblings or kittens same age when adopting, and they will never have a reason to go outside, since a cat friend is a toy they will never get bored of. They are perfectly fine hunting each other and my cumrags and their litterbox doesn't smell because they are fed raw and only shit their own hair. And let's not pretend stray cats live a fucking adventure every day of their life, they do what domestic cats do 99% of their time: sleep and lick their own ass. Most of the hunting is a seconds long affair, and you will achieve the same effect by throwing stuff around for them to catch. The only difference is while living indoors they won't get used in the making of a video called "Nigger kicking a cat to death and laughing afterwards #65656".
Pic related, those are my cats begging me to either let them out or kill them when they were still kittens.

She's an indoor-outdoor cat. She sleeps inside about 50% of the time and is perfectly used to the environment. Also, I live in a somewhat rural area next to a wildlife reserve. Her impact is negligible. I can see your point if houses are tight-packed next to each other though. Let me pose you this question: What happens when your 10 year old cat who's never been outside before runs away? They don't come back.

>What happens when your 10 year old cat who's never been outside before runs away? They don't come back.
You are talking out of your ass. First of all, the vast majority of indoor cats exposed to the outside will get scared and run back in right away. Second, the majority of cats that do escape return home, it may take hours, days or months but they do. Being curious about the outside doesn't mean they are unhappy indoors. Third, indoor cats have no idea how to orientate themselves outside with all the new stimuli and smells, not being able to find their way back home they normally just hide in a hole. The first advice you are given in lost indoor cat cases is to leave the litterbox outside your door so they hopefully catch the smell. Fourth, lost indoor cats are commonly found begging humans to adopt them, you can see many romantic "I didn't chose this cat, the cat chose me" stories on the internet, now you know the truth. I meet cats like this all the time in my area, the slightest attention you give them and they will freely follow you right into your home. Last and perhaps most important, maybe you should wonder who is more aware of the dangers and benefits of living outside, a human or a cat?

Here's an anecdote pertaining to my cat's experience in the outside, idk how it will relate to any current cat consensus
>cat goes 14 years content as she roams and climbs around
>even makes jovial acquaintance With neighbour black cat
>at age 15 she falls of roof and subsequently breaks her tooth, bleeds;almost gets mauled by some niggers and gets rescued by fire department
Now she is just more docile, still running around the house and garden but she can no longer climb the fence and roofs anymore. It gets depressing when her old spot is infringed by new cats.

I know this guy >>1265 has gone out a few times. I live on the ground floor but my balcony oversees a lower alley so there's maybe a 4-meter drop. My cat has jumped off and gone exploring on a few occasions. He would then meow into the dead of night so I could take him back.
First time it was three days and he went off for shorter periods every few months, but now it's been a good while since he's done this. He does seem to prefer the apartment.
Incidentally, last time he went away, he meowed not under the balcony but at the building's front door. While I have to applaud him for understanding this was the actual way back, I couldn't really hear him so that was one step forward, two steps back.

You should feel like a fucking asshole. If she's howling at night, there's a proper reason. Most likely frustrated that she couldn't be active the right way. Not by 'playing' on her own, but that YOU play with her. That you take the role of the prey. A cat needs to use the energy they store from sleeping. Their nature is to hunt many times during the day, and sleeping in between to restore energy.
Cats are most active at dusk and dawn.
You do not give a cat pills without your vets advice. And you never, NEVER, hit your cat. It's YOUR decision that the cat lives with you, NOT the cats. And if you can't stand a cats natural behavior, you should NOT own that cat anymore.
