Pretty much roll 2d100 *10 that is initial population, during each round you will roll 1d100 for additional population growth.

Keep track of you population, I will be keeping track to… >.>

With your population you can do three things

1.Expand Borders (100 population)

2.Create/Expand City (1000 Population) - produces finished good and more people

3.Develop Province (500 population) - resource production now occurs

The main focus of this game is however the story building the population growth and building is just for a progress tracker. Along with each "action" you will post a bit off fluff for your country. Use the IRC for Fluff with other nations, you can add as much or as little with each post.

Have fun

Thank to Cartogrpaher's Guild for the map :)

The kingdom of Neire-Lotta was founded recently, by a nomad king, who settled the land on the edge of lake Neire along the river Lotta with his people. They subsist mostly off of farming and fishing, while being adept at handling animals from their nomadic lifestyle. They are short of stature, but stocky, with red and brown hair being predominant among them. The men grow long beards which they add a stone bead to for every year of their life. Their beard is never cut, some being buried with scores of beads and beards past their waists.

Nation: Neire-Lotta

Population: 900 (-100) (+whatever this turn)

Some farmers have expressed desire for more land to suit the growing population. One hundred civilians, composed of men, women, and children (Builders, fishermen, farmers, and hunters, mainly) headed west and settled an area along the river Lotta.

Recently, there was drama in the royal court, when the king's trusted adviser attempted to claim the throne for himself. The would-be usurper and his ten followers were killed by a few hunters hired by the king, but it raises the question: Who is a king but a man backed by an army? How much of a king is one who has no army? The leader of the river people is probably going to attempt to create a warrior caste to secure his position, and protect his population from outside threats.

Going because HistoryOP the messiah did not update

The population density problem has been solved quite well, with nearly every citizen owning some form of land, even if it is just a hut. Most live comfortably, and surplus crops are becoming an issue. Untraded, (For the people who have them are unwilling to part with them at times) the extra goods are left, often to go bad. The new adviser of King Kaemar, The First of His Name, introduced a popular new system, in which specialy marked metal chips can be used as a method of barter, lasting forever, and being able to be traded at any time, for anything. The king enlists people to work in the production of these chits, mostly from farmers whose crops are out of season. The new currency is traded by weight, and is made of copper, for iron is too valuable and useful for tools and materials to be used as the basic metal. The chits are a great success.

King Kaemar was successful in his creation of a warrior caste, drawing mostly from the hunters and farmers. They keep their old jobs, but are sworn on their blood to defend the king and expanding kingdom should the need arise. They also serve to enforce the law of the land. In exchange for their service, in addition to the existing fruits of their labors, the warriors are paid with chits from the king.

The nation continues to grow and flourish. However, the king has taken ill, and is currently bedridden. He does not break with his subjects, for fear of contaminating the populace, but he is weaker than he was in his youth, being now in his sixites. With technology on the rise, and the needs of a population to meet, it seems necessary that he appoint a regent, in case this sickness takes him, to rule in his stead until his son comes of age, at which point, the regent would tutor and guide him. For his regent, he selected Hrunthor, his trusted adviser. The recent population boom has people whispering of the possibility of a large village being constructed.

Therefore we must expand ourselves to both sides of the river. Make it so.

Long ago, the great Tishnu roamed the world, and walked the great breath of it far and near. Tishnu was alone, and lonely, and so he took council of the Sun, Moon, and Stars whence he might find a wife.

They whispered to him, telling him to cut his long hair and scatter it about. And so he did, and of it grass and flowers grew in it. And yet he still was alone.

Then they whispered to him again, to pile some dirt high in mounds. And so he did, and of it he formed the mountains and the valleys, and walked about making great holes with his footsteps. And yet, he was still alone.

His patience was tested, but they whispered him one last time, to to rend from his flesh pieces of himself, and scatter them. And he did, creating the beasts of the field, and mankind among them.

And hearing the song of the flowers and beasts, and seeing the beauty of the land under the shining sun and pale moon, a beautiful maiden was enamoured, Aiywen, who fell in love with Tishnu. And she filled the home he had made, filling the pits he dug as oceans, laying her bed on the mounds he built, blanketing it with snow, and following in his footsteps, making the lakes and rivers.

Tishnu grew old and died, and Aiywen still mourns him in the rain to this day.

The Dominar stood for seventy days and seventy nights upon the tallest rock in the estuary where the Haradak met the Haradek, being fed a single plum as he meditate upon the seventh hour of every seventh day. In this time he grew deathly thin, until he resembled nothing more than a sapling swaying in the wind. All about his followers there came a whispering, a faction developing that doubted the Dominar was even alive. Among this faction there stood two men who believed themselves the next in line to become Dominar.

Upon the Seventieth Day, at the seventh hour, nearing the seventh minute, the two men stood before the rock, arguing with the Dominar's steward that they had waited long enough, they would both climb the rock and see for themselves if he yet lived.

The two would-be usurpers climbed the rock, but were distraught to find the Dominar very much alive, still standing as steadily as he had before.

One of the usurpers produced a knife, handing it to his rival.

"Kill him, we may split this place between ourselves if he dies!" He whispered.

With a smirk, the other usurper took the blade and advanced on the Dominar, unaware that the very same one who had gifted him the knife had produced his own, raised to kill the man who would kill the Dominar.

However, in the the very moment before the twin blades would strike, the Dominar opened his eyes and his assailants despaired. The Dominar's eyes held no pupils, no shade of darkness or color, but the pure whiteness of ultimate understanding. He spoke with a voice that echoed through their heads.

"Perish."

With movements that were not their own, the assailants raised their knives and buried them into their own chests, falling from the rock and staining the waters of the estuary red.

The Dominar turned to the people of the Dominion, his enlightened stare cowing them all. From henceforth the Dominion would know three castes:

Those that were loyal would join him at the very highest caste, the Cir, the one of philosophers and kings. They and they alone would be allowed to gain understanding of the workings of the cosmos.

Below them would be the followers of the man who raised his knife to the Dominar, the Ra. They would forever be tasked with defending those they had sought to betray, and hope that this contrast may betray and enlightenment all its own.

And below all would would be that of the duplicitous murderer, the Tam. Their lot would be to toil forever, trying to gain enlightenment through the labor of building the great works of the Dominion and realizing the dreams of the Cir.

Thus it was that the hierarchy of the Dominion was established.

The Dominar and his people lived in peace long after the formation of the Castes. None were foolish enough to question the mandate of the cosmos, and thus did not give themselves to open rebellion. Few fled to the lands deeper towards the Slumbering God mountains, hiding in the wilderness from the Dominar's Pure Eyes. Here they attempted to gain enlightenment among the wild spirits of the jungle, but this proved their undoing as they invited the spirits of the vilest parts of nature into their hearts and became nothing more than animals themselves. These beastly men would throw themselves repeated on the bulwark of the Ra, screaming out affirmations of their perverted faith. Sometimes, in particularly bad series of droughts, in desperation the mountainmen would be hired to carry snow down from the peaks upon wagons, to melt and feed the crops.

The effectiveness of this varies, but it was found out that it was better to melt the water first, rather than scattering the cold snow among the crops

Treed are felled by the hundreds to create housing around a central area, with mines yawning ever wider in the countryside, yielding up their stone and iron to the strong hands that work them. The stone is carted away, tonnes at a time, to the burgeoning city to create buildings for the wealthy, and for the king's establishments.

Recently, fishermen have seen settlements not sanctioned by the king or the regent appearing on the other side of the river. The city was finished soon after these reports reached the regent. Upon the ailing King's orders, the court of the king was moved to this new city, and an even more dedicated guard was set about the great palisades.

Lore: The Emissaries were received warmly by the highest amongst the Cir, their gifts distributed fairly amongst the castes according to their proper standing before they were brought before the Dominar. The Dominar could not speak the language of his guests, nor he his, but he projected a warmth about him and an apparent curiousity of their ways. He ordered reciprocal gifts be given to their guests to be taken to their ruler in kind.

While in the company of the Dominar, the emissaries found themselves repeatedly gazed upon by the more flirtacious among the Cir's young maidens. Such an odd and exotic people, with great flowing beards, it stands to reason they were amazed. Of course, when caught, the maidens scurried away, giggling and tittering among themselves.

Eventually the visitors were given a friendly farewell when their time with the Dominion was at an end, the people arranging themselves along the river to cheer their passing and encourage their return.

While waiting on a response from the people across the river, the Dominar was approached by a member of the Ra. The Ra declared that he felt the strange men across the river were no better that the Fal-Cir, with their strange customs and odd appearance. The Ra questioned if it was wise to treat them so warmly.

In response, the Dominar took a peach and asked the Ra to give him his knife. When the warrior obliged, the Dominar cut the peach in two.

"One of these halves is us, the other is our neighbors. Doing as you said we have split ourselves away from there and recognized that we are not fundamentally the same. The insides of this peach have begun to rot as soon as I made the cut, just as our two peoples will rot should we seek to divide ourselves. If we seek to fight our neighbors, who have shown no desire to harm us, then what shall we do when the Fal-Cir come again?"

At that point, the Dominar crushed the half of the peach representing the Dominion with his bare hand. The juices of the fruit ran down his arm as the Ra stared.

"The Fal-Cir will destroy us. Now go defend against our true enemies and allow the Cir to deal with the folk across the river."

Cowed, the Ra walked away, reminded of his place in the Cirratam hierarchy.

A throng is gathered in front of the gates of the King's Castle. The regent Hrunthor called a gathering of the people of the town. When he stepped out, and people saw the look on his face, their fears were confirmed before he even spoke.

"Men and Women of the kingdom. I bear sad tidings: King Kaemar is dead."

A general cry went up among the crowd. Hrunthor simply stood there, and waited for the commotion to die down.

"Friends, this is indeed a sad day, but our nation is not headless. Indeed, right now, Prince Aelfgar prepares to address you."

With that, he headed back into the castle. The crowd waited for an hour, not a sound among them, when at last, a young man walked from the castle, flanked by an honour guard, with Hrunthor and a priest with him. On his side, was the Blade of Kaemar. The priest carried a crown upon a pillow. A commotion arose for a while, but they were stilled when the boy raised his hand. He spoke firmly, his voice never wavering in his grief.

"Countrymen. I thank you for your suppourt in this ordeal, as my family does, and as the king did. Just two hours ago, as my father lay dying, I completed his task."

The young man drew the blade at his side, and held it aloft, the sun's rays catching upon its polished surface.

"I have held The Blade of Kaemar for a day to show my devotion to the people of Neire-Lotta. Upon my life," He sheathed the sword and took the crown from the priest, "I swear to attempt to live up to my father's example, and carry on the line of kings."

The crowd erupted into a bittersweet howl, as they chanted the name of the fallen Kaemar, and the boy king Aelfgar, the First of His Name.

None knew why the Dominar wept, yet all saw the unending flow of tears that he shed. His tears flowed on and on as he gazed at the sky, flooding through the thoroughfares of the small settlement.

The entire population stood around him, whispering among themselves until a single child stepped forward, the humble daughter of a mere Tam forager.

"Great Dominar? Why is it you cry?" She asked.

"Because, child, a great man has died across the river. I saw his spirit ascend into the heavens to be embraced by his gods. The cosmos instructed me to witness this, for in exchange enlightenment shall flow out to us all. The tears I shed are the gifts of the heavens, take basins and allow all to drink from them, for those that do will achieve a precious piece of true enlightenment."

The people of the Dominion rushed to do as instructed, placing water basins beneath the flowing tears of their leader. Soon the basins were full and all-from the highest Cir, to the lowliest Tam-drank of the Dominar's tears.

As one the people of the Dominion were struck with a vision of a great and wondrous city, one that would be as splendorous as the stars in the sky. All began to work, for this time the castes forgotten, all that mattered was the act of creation.

The Ra erected great walls and towers to protect from the assaults of the Fal-Cir, the Tam constructed houses and markets where all would live and trade and work, while finally the Cir brought forth splendorous temples with which to honor the universe and the Celestial Beings that were the Dominion's patrons.

Finally when the work was done, the Dominar bid the populace to return to the very center, where he sat, all the moisture gone from his body. Yet still, the great torrent of tears flowed. He bade them listen to his words:

"Build a shrine around me, for my time among you is short. My body will be left behind, and will still bring forth tears, but the tears will be as clear and clean as the river we have settled upon. Weep not for me, for another shall gain my Pure Eyes and lead you into the future. Partake of my waters, and it will help you reach my level of enlightenment."

The people did as told, erecting a shrine that entombed the Dominar and allowed his sacred tears to flow out into the city through an expertly carved system of waterways. The people of the Dominion sat before the shrine and prayed to the heavens for a new Dominar, and she strode among them to take a seat before the shrine.

The very same Tam girl who had asked the Dominar why he wept looked upon the city with her Pure Eyes.

"Come," She said, "Come forth people of the Dominion, a new age dawns and we must go to meet it. The enlightenment of the cosmos is lost with the First Dominar, but a new enlightenment will become known to us: The Enlightenment of the Gods."

And the people of the Dominion cheered.

Lore:

At the dawning of the Second Enlightenment, the city of Targa Kosh played host to many changes among its population. The first change came from the Second Dominar's own people, the Tam laborers. The Tam split into two distinct races, the Tam-Ka were short and squat, with darkened skin and clever eyes. The Tam-Ka were jovial and industrious, a raucous lower class that while seemingly uncouth, found their enlightenment at the bottom of their cups of fermented berry juice.

The Tam-Ka became notable for expanding the industry of Targa Kosh and bringing new ideas on improving the city's construction.

"Blessed are the Tam-Ka," Said the Second Dominar on an occasion where she toasted their construction of port near the shores of the Haradek bay, "I name you such for Ka, god of the Resplendent Forge, has taken you as his own. Toil with vigor, for when you die, you too may work with him on the jeweled stars of infinity."

The second race of Tam, the Tam-La, were also small like the Tam-Ka, but whereas the Tam-Ka were wide and strong, the Tam-La were slight and delicate. Many wondered the use for such beings until they were let forth unto the Dominion's primitive farms. The Tam-La sung to the plants, coaxing a plentiful harvest of berries and fruits from the tall trees of the forest. Ever after the Tam-La would work the fields of the City of Unity, their masterful farming feeding the city.

"Blessed are the Tam-La," Said the Second Dominar, dining upon a single one of their peaches, "I name you such for La, goddess of the Bountiful Garden, has taken you for her own. Work the fields with diligence and respect for her works, for when you die you shall walk among her beauteous bounty."

Thus it was, for forever and a day.

Nation: Neire-Lotta

Population: 250

Leader: King Aelfgar, the First of his Name, aided by the Regent Hrunthor

The kingdom of Neire-Lotta was founded recently, by a nomad king, who settled the land on the edge of Lake Neire along the river Lotta with his people. They subsist mostly off of farming and fishing, while being adept at handling animals from their nomadic lifestyle. They are short of stature, but stocky, with red and brown hair being predominant among them. The men grow long beards which they add a stone bead to for every year of their life. Their beard is never cut, some being buried with scores of beads and beards past their waists. They use metal chits as currency and have a standing guard. The capital of the kingdom is Kaemar City, where the king makes his court.

The kingdom carried on surprisingly well, despite the death of one king and the coronation of another. Unfortunately, soon after that, an incident arose. One day, a farmer from a village far in the west ran into the city as quickly as he could, and demanded to speak with someone of authority. He was met by the Regent and Advisor of the King, Hrunthor.

"I have come forth to meet with you." said the old man. "You had best not be wasting my time."

The peasant bowed his head.

"Milord. I come from a nameless village in the West, where we grow wheat and barley and other such crops. Just yesterday, a band of men attacked the town. They burned the crops, razed the village, killed the men, and took the women. There was no method to their madness. Nothing to justify their carnage. Please. I beg of you. Send help."

The withered wiseman leaned on his staff, his gathered black robes concealing his face and thus his expression.

"This is grave news, serf. Armed men will be dispatched to your village with utmost haste. They will bring with them trackers and warriors. They will find the enemy and destroy them in retribution for this heinous act"

The farmer fell to the ground in relief and exhaustion. The Regent called for a healer, and the man was taken away. Soon afterwards, a group of men was ready to go, drawn from the King's militia. Hunters were among them, experts in the art of tracking. At the dawn of the next day, they set out from the city, carrying weapons and provisions, following the river Westwards.

Over the past few months, the King had adjusted to his new role quite well. The emissaries were scheduled to have reached the other kingdom by now, and many wondered why they had not yet returned. Aelfgar decided that in the face of the bandit attacks, and in the wake of the recent bandit attack, the town should fortify itself, a barracks should be created, and a dedicated guard, as well as a force of career soldiers, be created. The seeds for another historical change had been sewn, now it was time for the people to wait for them to grow.

The scouts soon reached the village to find it plundered. They sent some scouts to follow the tracks. What they found at the end of the tracks astounded them. There was a horde of nomads, set up in tents. There must have been hundreds of them. The scouts managed to link away. Soon the group headed back to the city. By the time that they had arrived, changes had taken place. Soldiers were being trained in the barracks. Bowyers were fletching and smiths were forging. Horses were being tamed and the walls of the city were being inspected. People scurried back and forth with materials for the soldiers, suppliers, and builders. The scouts came to the castle and were let in by the forces of the king. They were mey by Aelfgar and Hrunthor, both of which agreed that action should be taken against the nomads. The nation was mobilizing for war, and it had a definite target.

The war party was assembled, and the king was prepared to lead his men into battle, but Hrunthor talked him out of it. Without an heir, should the king fall, the kingdom would descend into chaos. Hrunthor also argued that the soldiers were too green, and needed to practice. The king, as always, listened to his advisor, for he was just a boy, but was swiftly becoming a man. He soon took to wife the daughter of a fish merchant, named Yvonne. Meanwhile, the Regent appointed a minister to oversee the training of the army, Falstrom Golfisson. Golfisson was chosen, because of the adeptness that he showed as a shepherd, placing his men in the best positions to drive the sheep that he herded into a pen. Hrunthor thought that this would be an asset in the battles to come, and approached him about the opportunity. He graciously accepted.

The emissaries of Neire-Lotta soon reached the lands of the civilization across the river, finding a people inclined to meditation, as well as euphamism and simile. They brought their gifts before the leader of their kingdom, known as the Dominar. The baskets that they brought overflowed with fruits and salted meats and fishes. The bread was soft, and the wine was sweet.

It was not the Tam alone who diverged in their appearance and mannerism. The Ra, stalwart in their protection of Targa Kosh, split into three forms.

First came the Ra-Sha, the valiant warriors who ranged out again and again into the wooded wilderness to ferret out the threat of the Fal-Cir in their false temples. So many times did they range out into the wilderness that it began to take hold and mold them with a savagery that only returning to the calming influence of the city could cure. However, even then there were those who went feral, becoming as like beasts with an unquenchable thirst for blood. When such an illness would afflict one, it was the duty of his brothers to defeat him in battle and commend his spirit to the heavens, where he would find peace.

"Blessed are the Ra-Sha," Said the Second Dominar, as she watched one of their mighty warriors defeat a Fal-Cir before the walls of Targa Kosh, "I name you such for Sha, God of the Unflinching Charge, has taken you for his own. Pursue our enemies with tenacity and conviction, for when you die you shall be amongst his honor guard."

Later, the realm was ready for war. Falstrom headed out with a force of elite men, who had sparred with each other with every possible weapon, every day, for months on end. Their armour gleamed in the sunlight, and sang a song as they marched across the city and out of the walls. Soon, they would reach the land of the bandits. Some had stayed behind to protect the city and the king.

As the soldiers left, Aelfgar was distraught that he could not see battle, for he trained with his men and was an adept fighter. All of his sadness, however, was dispelled when Yvonne revealed that she was with child. The news soon spread throughout the kingdom that the throne would soon have an heir.

Eventually, the warband reached the bandit camp. They found that the robbers had not moved from their previous position. The looters were stealthily surrounded, and Falstrom sprung his trap. Soldiers dashed into the midst of the camp, and killed many of the bandits unawares. Most were butchered without much resistance, but some put up a fight. Thirteen good men died. These men will not see their families again in this world, but will go on to feast in the halls of the gods.

Amongst the wreckage of the bandit camp, one soldier found an odd thing. It was a stone, about the size of a barrel. It was shaped like an egg, with markings carved into it. Swirls and ridges, knots and circles laid upon its face. It glowed yellow on the inside, like the rays of the setting sun on a field of wheat. The stone was put on a wagon, and brought back with other spoils, and the dead.

To the southeast lay the Kingdom of Volden, known for its particularly dour folk, hardened like the ironworks they produce by years of warring with brother tribes and kingdoms. They sit impoverished waiting for a lord to bring them to glory once more.

I am sorry, my friend, but this thread is dead. Most of HistoryOP's threads go that way, but we don't begrudge him. It's why he moved to /tg/. He wanted to light a fire under his own ass.

Here's some active builders. I don't know if they're all accepting new people, but it's worth a shot:
