The year is 2079, technology and science as a whole have progressed to nigh unfathomable degrees, progress came at a cost though, the united states government as we know it was dissolved after the brutal riots of 2029. These riots came to be known as the "Red Rebellion" it came about after knowledge of the U.S government hoarding life-altering technology for the gain of government workers, everything from a cure to previously thought incurable diseases like cancer to things more minute like brain transplantation, teleportation and even mind-control technologies…the number of things being kept from the public was astonishing, so it was no surprise when everything was leaked the people of America reacted violently, soon the government was overthrown and in its place stood a new government solely on the ideals of a completely free market capitalistic movement. Suddenly everything had a price, there were rules in place though nothing completely degenerate was allowed and basic human rights were maintained, other than that most things were fair game barring drugs. Which brings us to the present, the unregulated use of technology led to several undesirable problems, most cities are now almost unbearably choked with smog and other noxious emissions, not to mention the much,much longer nights due to all the greenhouse gas emissions.

The new nights now lasted 14 hours with day lasting only 10, but we learned to adapt. What we weren't prepared to handle was the abominations, Feral Violent beasts created by altering human DNA to irreparable levels, this combined with the now unparalleled level of crime lead to the megacorporation that was now the U.S government to create a new task force to combat the countrys problems the Joint Allied Defense Enclave codenamed J.A.D.E

you are all fresh graduates of the prestigious academy you've all joined and went through it for various reasons. The academy has tried its best to prepare you for the horrors you will face in the world at large, however some things the academy just can't prepare you for. Regardless You've all been assigned to various squads within J.A.D.E its time to report to HQ for your first missions.

Fluff: Bob Day was an average, although stubborn, youth until he inherited a failing bar from his uncle. One day, loan sharks claimed the bar was in considerable debt and that he would have to cough up the money, perform services to eliminate the debt, or they would break his legs and organs, he refused to acknowledge their presence. They attempted a campaign of harassment until the day they came and tried to collect by way of his legs and organs. He pulled out the family heirloom claymore, bloodied them, and chased them away. In vengeance their comrades came back in strength but were met with firm shotgun resistance, a strong supply of homemade Molotov Cocktails, and championship throwing darts. The failed bar was defended against the criminal aggressors with mixed success. The bar, as well as several surrounding buildings and vehicles, had erupted into a massive fire which lit up the night. Luckily the ancient building had insurance which erroneously listed the building as a cultural icon of the district, and the court ruled that the criminal aggressors were clearly the ones who started the fire (as the criminals had seen to it that there was a lack of any video evidence prior to their assault). Using his substantial new funds he bought some identity protection, some enhancements, and enrollment into the prestigious academy that would refine his talents into J.A.D.E. material.

Fluff: Musashi was adopted as a child by a Yakuza boss, but rather than treated like a son, he was drilled into an extra bodyguard with more loyalty and less pay. Intense training with bladed weapons led to his skill in dual sword style, as well as with knives. Trained as a sniper as well, he was made into a tool to eliminate any threats to the Oyabun. He was primed to serve as his father's elite bodyguard, but by a stroke of fate, he was absent on an errand the day a rival yakuza family took out his syndicate. Intent on avenging his family, he set out destroy the perpetrators, but they were already destroyed themselves by the time he caught up. At that point, Musashi could scarcely make sense of how quickly everything he had known was wiped out in a pointless cycle of violence. He scrounged up some cash to head to America, if only to discover what he might actually want from his life. His skills were only fit for combat, but as he wanted to fight for something with meaning, he decided to enroll into the J.A.D.E. academy.

Fluff: There are many horrors that lurk unseen in the dark undercity of Modern America. With the police being too afraid to venture below what little law that now remained could not even enforce its will there. A safe-haven for the wicked, many foul activities and experiments were conducted with little retaliation from above. However accidents do happen and in such an environment they are often lethal. For example, a mad doctor who had built his lab underground found his subjects breaching containment destroying everything in their path. While he quickly met his end, the same could not be said for his creations whom still persisted and could perhaps even claim to be part of the reason J.A.D.E was founded. Not all of the subjects were mindless however as there was a child who had managed to keep his sanity intact. Knowing only what the pod had taught him as he was incubating, when it was violently destroyed he was forced into the world, already having to defend himself. With his hands growing into claws and his tail revealing a wicked stinger he was able to keep his attacker at bay long enough to find a way to escape. It took him a long time to actually find the surface however and even longer to attempt to actually socialize with people willing to associate with him, but the pod taught him well and when he heard of a group that hunted creatures like those that had threatened his life since the start he quickly attempted to join. The utter lack of documentation before hand proved to be a hassle however his unique circumstances allowed him access.

Everyone reports to HQ, you've all been assigned to Alpha Squad.

You head down to the briefing room and after a short monologue on what to expect you are informed of your first task. You are all to track down a serial killer known only by the moniker "Smiley" that has been terrorizing the red-lights district for quite some time. He's been targeting sex-workers for months now and a body is turning up damn near every week but no progress has been made in finding out his identity.

His killings are usually carried out by some sort of sharp instrument and the bodies are usually found dismembered with body parts put back together in the wrong places, like an arm where the leg should be…you get the idea. The other notable trait of the bodies is the large smile carved into the mouth from ear to ear and the absence of teeth which are found crammed into the windpipe. At all crime scenes a smiley face painted in blood and a short message is found next to the body.

As of right now your task is to gather information, track down the killer and bring them in to collect your pay. HQ wants "smiley" dead or alive.

"I've got my first lead, it says that the culprit might be found at the bottom of a bottle. It sounds credible so lets hit a few bars in the area, and see what comes up."

1 The best place to get information is from the local watering hole. I can handle a few drinks to see what the locals are saying, and what they've seen.

2 Using whatever information we have and can get, look for a place to rent where we have a good lookout of sex-worker corners. Might also come in handy for a sniper location if we get a positive ID on the guy, or a trap if one of the boys can wear a skirt and heels.

2. After that, all the rest of my prep goes into setting up a location. Looking for a building we can use that's near a suspicious area, has multiple good lines of sight, yet isn't too exposed.

3. In said place, I'll set up for the operation. Set up all my firing positions, make sure they're hard to notice from the outside, then put enough fortifications so at the very least I'll know if somebody tries creeping up on me.

Fluff: Born September 14th, 2058 to a somewhat wealthy family of an american born Czech mother and a Slovak born father, John lived a fairly comfortable life, and a boring one. Enlisting as a PMC for the Haakman corporation at age 18, John picked up his training fairly well and started proper work later that year. After 3 years of success as one of the bodyguards to the CEO's children, preventing corporate espionage from other arms manufacturing corps, and general guard duties, his contract was given over to the J.A.D.E initiative.

His weapon of choice is a Haakman produced pulse rifle, which he used extensively in his service to the corporation, and wears his patrol cap and face mask almost all the time. During combat, he wears combat armor which consists of ballistic grade polymer plating and a stab resistant under suit.

At the ripe age of 5, however, his parents had a malfunction with luxury cybernetics installed during a car trip, resulting in a crash killing both of them and seriously injuring his brother, Derek, ending in him becoming paraplegic. As the malfunctioning cybernetic was a top-of-the-line, guaranteed-to-be-safe modification the corporation had a vested interest in keeping the two brothers quiet, and so they lived on with a lot more money coming from both inheritance and settlement, Derek getting a very expensive fix for his disability in the form of cybernetic replacement. During this time, even as he was studying in J.A.D.E Academy, he was simultaneously taking care of Jake, almost completely making up for the missing parental figures.

Only two years later, as Derek was about to graduate as one of the youngest students ever, the cybernetics Derek had installed malfunctioned as well, resulting in quadriplegia and an inability to graduate. Jake, stricken with grief, nearly jumped on the offer to get more cybernetics from Vorpal, but Derek declined, seeing as their previous funds were beginning to dry out and Jake needed more for his tuition. After long nights of deliberation this was decided to be the best course. Three years later, Derek's condition had progressively worsened, new wounds seemingly being found every other week, almost completely draining the funds anyway through medical bills. Derek was hanging on by a thread.

In a last ditch effort, Jake went into massive debt with a second corporation, Claudere Spatium, to perform an experimental procedure to brain transfer his brother into an AI. With the help of some neural modding and the brother-AI he managed to get into the J.A.D.E Academy and get a scholarship for extenuating circumstances, allowing him to complete the seven-year course and graduate into J.A.D.E.

You head to the jokers lounge with Bob, but he seems to be doing fine on his own so you instead hit up the drug store "The magic dragon" to see if anyones been buying things that could used for more suspicious activities the employee at the counter says nothing out of the ordinary just the usual junkies purchasing meth and other substances….however there has been a strange man coming by to purchase large amounts of GHB which for the area and district is one of the most unpopular options on the menu.

3.You manage to get a warrant for a few of the nearby weapons stores in the district and come up with a ridiculously large amount of suspects if you really want to go this route it's going to take a lot of time to narrow things down.

Try as you might, you just can't seem to find anything, thats not to mention all the harassment you get from various people in the red-lights district you even have a few drunks throwing a foul smelling liquid that you hope to god isn't shit at you, thankfully it missed you, but the obscenities they shouted at you did not. 2.You do however inbetween bouts of bottles and other things being thrown at you manage to slip away into a few of the alleys were the murders were carried out and found an interesting tidbit, all the alleys led to deadends with no escape in sight except for a large storm grate that leads down into a deep inky blackness.

3.A long shot, but its not in vain you do manage to find a common scent…others without your enhancements would almost certainly fail to notice it, but not you. It's faint but it's definitely there. Its the scent of a flower…orchids to be specific and that is something that is most assuredly out of place.

Derek manages to draw quite a few patterns all of the killings were carried out against women aged 16-29 with all of them having some form of genesplicing work done on them. Be it animalistic features or more fantasy style modifications…the most interesting piece of information though is that most of the killings have taken place within a 1 square mile radius of kingfisher alley.

2.Everyone you visit keeps taking about a guy that smells of flowers but they can't quite give any descriptions other then tall and powerfully built.

You comb the cameras around kingfisher alley when you see him, a man in a large black hoodie splattered with blood, he's tall about 7ft and he looks jacked the hood is pulled up and is obscuring his face he looks up directly at the camera and you see a pair of glowing red-eyes staring back at you, he waves and then the camera immediately cuts to static for a period of 5 hours before turning back on. Whoever he is, you have a good feeling you've probably found the killer.

Chances were he was gonna get a blow to the head sooner or later and if the guy was as big as people said it would be nice not to have his brain splattered across the pavement.

Fluff: There are many horrors that lurk unseen in the dark undercity of Modern America. With the police being too afraid to venture below what little law that now remained could not even enforce its will there. A safe-haven for the wicked, many foul activities and experiments were conducted with little retaliation from above. However accidents do happen and in such an environment they are often lethal. For example, a mad doctor who had built his lab underground found his subjects breaching containment destroying everything in their path. While he quickly met his end, the same could not be said for his creations whom still persisted and could perhaps even claim to be part of the reason J.A.D.E was founded. Not all of the subjects were mindless however as there was a child who had managed to keep his sanity intact. Knowing only what the pod had taught him as he was incubating, when it was violently destroyed he was forced into the world, already having to defend himself. With his hands growing into claws and his tail revealing a wicked stinger he was able to keep his attacker at bay long enough to find a way to escape. It took him a long time to actually find the surface however and even longer to attempt to actually socialize with people willing to associate with him, but the pod taught him well and when he heard of a group that hunted creatures like those that had threatened his life since the start he quickly attempted to join. The utter lack of documentation before hand proved to be a hassle however his unique circumstances allowed him access.

They attempted a campaign of harassment until the day they came and tried to collect by way of his legs and organs. He pulled out the family heirloom claymore, bloodied them, and chased them away. In vengeance their comrades came back in strength but were met with firm shotgun resistance, a strong supply of homemade Molotov Cocktails, and championship throwing darts. The failed bar was defended against the criminal aggressors with mixed success. The bar, as well as several surrounding buildings and vehicles, had erupted into a massive fire which lit up the night. Luckily the ancient building had insurance which erroneously listed the building as a cultural icon of the district, and the court ruled that the criminal aggressors were clearly the ones who started the fire (as the criminals had seen to it that there was a lack of any video evidence prior to their assault). Using his substantial new funds he bought some identity protection, some enhancements, and enrollment into the prestigious academy that would refine his talents into J.A.D.E. material.

Fluff: Oscar Cain has seen a lot of shit. He was only eight during the Red Rebellion, but he was not spared from the horrifying events that happened. He watched his parents, both police officers, die at the hands of neo-anarcho-capitalists. He fled to the Midwest, becoming one of the many refugees to the Syndicalist States of America, a relatively short lived breakaway state, a place where Cain had extended family. He would grow up here and set himself on the path of law, seeking only to maintain order and halt degeneracy. The fall of the SSA saw Cain having to adapt to a rapidly changing world, one he detested. Thus, he took up arms, becoming both a detective and a vigilante. As he grew older, he found himself having to use the technology he so despised, adding cybernetic implants to strengthen aging muscles. Eventually, after destroying a business that was using barely paid children as a disposable workforce, he was caught by the mercenaries of the mega-corporation that claims sovereignty over the US. Jake was quite average, had a relatively wealthy family with a father, mother and a 12 years older brother, Derek, who entered the J.A.D.E Academy as Jake was born due to prodigious technical ability.

At the ripe age of 5, however, his parents had a malfunction with luxury cybernetics installed during a car trip, resulting in a crash killing both of them and seriously injuring his brother, Derek, ending in him becoming paraplegic. As the malfunctioning cybernetic was a top-of-the-line, guaranteed-to-be-safe modification the corporation had a vested interest in keeping the two brothers quiet, and so they lived on with a lot more money coming from both inheritance and settlement, Derek getting a very expensive fix for his disability in the form of cybernetic replacement. During this time, even as he was studying in J.A.D.E Academy, he was simultaneously taking care of Jake, almost completely making up for the missing parental figures.

Only two years later, as Derek was about to graduate as one of the youngest students ever, the cybernetics Derek had installed malfunctioned as well, resulting in quadriplegia and an inability to graduate. Jake, stricken with grief, nearly jumped on the offer to get more cybernetics from Vorpal, but Derek declined, seeing as their previous funds were beginning to dry out and Jake needed more for his tuition. After long nights of deliberation this was decided to be the best course. Three years later, Derek's condition had progressively worsened, new wounds seemingly being found every other week, almost completely draining the funds anyway through medical bills. Derek was hanging on by a thread.

In a last ditch effort, Jake went into massive debt with a second corporation, Claudere Spatium, to perform an experimental procedure to brain transfer his brother into an AI. With the help of some neural modding and the brother-AI he managed to get into the J.A.D.E Academy and get a scholarship for extenuating circumstances, allowing him to complete the seven-year course and graduate into J.A.D.E.

Fluff: There are many horrors that lurk unseen in the dark undercity of Modern America. With the police being too afraid to venture below what little law that now remained could not even enforce its will there. A safe-haven for the wicked, many foul activities and experiments were conducted with little retaliation from above. However accidents do happen and in such an environment they are often lethal. For example, a mad doctor who had built his lab underground found his subjects breaching containment destroying everything in their path. While he quickly met his end, the same could not be said for his creations whom still persisted and could perhaps even claim to be part of the reason J.A.D.E was founded. Not all of the subjects were mindless however as there was a child who had managed to keep his sanity intact. Knowing only what the pod had taught him as he was incubating, when it was violently destroyed he was forced into the world, already having to defend himself. With his hands growing into claws and his tail revealing a wicked stinger he was able to keep his attacker at bay long enough to find a way to escape. It took him a long time to actually find the surface however and even longer to attempt to actually socialize with people willing to associate with him, but the pod taught him well and when he heard of a group that hunted creatures like those that had threatened his life since the start he quickly attempted to join. The utter lack of documentation before hand proved to be a hassle however his unique circumstances allowed him access.

Fluff: Vex is the youngest son of a youngest son, the tenth child of a tenth child. This means absolutely nothing, but it is a running joke amongst his family to the point he is also known by the name Ten-Two or Tentoo both in and outside of his blood. His father is a Gene-Siphoner, someone who drains the blood of others, picks out relatively ok traits or benefits, and puts those in a womans eggs for a hefty fee. While some may expect this to mean Vex has the best possible genetics, he has been left with whatever he was born with so that he can "Become a true man" in his fathers words. As such he grew up with a higher quality life in the midlayer of a megacity. He was daily brought along by his fathers and brothers as they went siphoning, either into the depths to bargain with those whose bodies were durable and strong from hard lives, or into the higher layers to get the blood of the artistic or smart. While a well-paying lifestyle, Vex notably decided to join a Security Military at eighteen instead of pursuing his fathers career. The Security Military, known as Kygain-inc, specialized in deployment into the more inhospitable areas of megacities, and was famed for its particularly biohazard resistant articles and usage of relatively inhumane weaponry. After rigorous training Tentoo was assigned to the field, and while he performed admirably in his assigned role, his entire platoon was ambushed and slaughtered by patticularly horrific abominations in one ill-advised mission. One of a handful of survivors, he and the rest left Kygain due to "horror trauma", but Tentoo shortly after joined JADE for revenge against his units killers. By now he is 23 years old, and ready to put his skills to the test.

He would rise and instead put his effort towards finding information about the disappearances in Stellar Heights. He would switch things up this time, hardcore discrimination against people who look like they don't belong in the nice area, taking them into back alleys and beating them senseless while interrogating them for information. He couldn't possible do this in his uniform, and instead would adapt the look of the hipsters themselves of the area, and if he failed to garner any information, he could at least draw the plausible kidnapper to him by causing a ruckus
