It happened without warning, the outbreak…we all thought it was just a mutation of the flu….we were wrong, so very wrong. The first cases popped up in Scotland, then reports of more in London, next it hit Germany then spread to Poland and France before making its way to the United States, none of us were prepared for what it did. In just under 72 hours 98% of the world's population was infected. The CDC scrambled to put up quarantine zones, but it was too late by then the virus had spiraled too far out of control and even still if they had been successful it had changed people, they weren't human any longer. They had become something animalistic reduced to a lesser bestial form acting out on their most basic survival instincts. The infected gained a horrible unquenchable thirst, they seemingly congregated around any form of water during the first week only attacking anyone that was dumb enough to get close to them, but then the thirst got worse….eventually the only liquid able to quench their thirst was blood. That's when the attacks ramped up and the death toll sky-rocketed as the infected preyed on the survivors for their blood. Which brings us to the present.
You are a member of a small group of survivors resisting the various infected, a day or so ago an announcement was made over your groups radio. A safe haven for uninfected had been formed in Iceland, the only country to remain uninfected, perhaps if you can all get there in one piece you can finally have some peace from the endless terror of the infected.
The only problem is, you are all smack dab in the middle of Ohio, it's going to be quite the trip to get there and…you have your doubts you can make it in one piece…your group has a decision to make one that is going to affect you for the rest of your lives, however long you may have left.

The infected, we've given them various nicknames based on their appearance and behaviors here are the lists
Weepers:every single common infected has one thing in common. The bleeding, unblinking eyes and the horrible incessant whines and sobs that never seem to stop. It's why we, the survivors have taken to calling them "Weepers" they all congregate around sources of water to cope with the blood loss and dehydration when they aren't able to find sources of blood.

Crawler: These uncommon terrifying abominations are the result of the virus affecting dogs, it's caused them to shed all their skin and sent their muscles into a sort of overdrive giving them a heightened strength and speed, their claws have also undergone a transformation becoming overly large and curved able to rip apart and rend flesh with ease. It's also affected their teeth, rendering them oddly sharp and almost shark-like.
You can tell when they're around due to the disgusting noise their wet bleeding muscle makes when it slaps against the ground.

Stalkers: Not even human anymore, these rare infected have been affected by a necrotizing mutation of the virus, Rendered quadrupedal due to the degradation of the muscles, they might not seem threatening, but they are. They're able to move around and claw at prey through Lactic Acid buildup giving them bursts of energy, however after the Lactic Acid is expanded they are rendered temporarily immobile.
The bones on their fingers have grown into claws sharp enough to rend flesh, muscle and bone with ease, however they lack any sense of conventional sight and hearing so they are essentially blind relying on an odd sense of thermal sensitivity to find prey they use it to stalk and attack anything giving off a sufficient amount of heat, thus to the smart survivor they are easily tricked with flares and other hot items.

Splits: These infected are one of the most heavily mutated by the virus and are thus one of the least likely to be encountered, they tend to stay away from other areas that are heavily populated with the more common variants of infected instead choosing a single hunting ground.
The virus has affected them by causing a protective layer of keratin to develop around the body giving them an exo-skeleton of sorts, however, the torso and face split perfectly down the center revealing a row of sharp fangs designed to encapsulate and impale prey to drain it of its blood much like an iron maiden.
They're fast moving and amble forward in horrid unpredictable jerking motions often appearing to have some sort of seizure mid-stride lending them a very intimidating appearance to those that have never encountered them before.

Vampyre:One of the more terrifying infected
The vampyre are not like the other infected, they're intelligent and able to think and perform calculated and complex attacks, they're even able to utilize weapons.
The virus has infected them much like every other infected making them crave blood and it's caused them to appear less then human, with rows of sharp teeth in places they shouldn't be as well as pointed ears and a sunken nose. The virus has also given them a form of night vision and unlike the other infected they're capable of speech, they tend to congregate in groups, however, it's not unusual for them to remain loners. If you encounter one of these ugly fuckers, good luck you'll need it.

Spawn: The rarest and most heavily mutated out of all the infected.
These abominations are not even remotely human, and seeing one is enough to make anyone shit their pants, the horrible gurgling hiss they make and the way they slither and jerk.
These infected are best described as a writhing mass of flesh and bladed whip-like tentacles capable of wiping out even the most heavily armed of survivors if you ever encounter one of these the best thing you can do is hope it kills you quickly.

Backstory: Chad was a member of a brotherhood, a marine. He was spec ops, Pakistan, combat applications group. He was delta force. It was in a routine combat mission in the hills of the Hindu Kush region that Chad encountered what were to become the infected. An entire village, all of its people, sick with some unknown illness. A whole company of Pakistani regular army troops disappeared investigating it, any thing that went in didn't come out of that mountain village. Eventually they reached out to american spec ops to help, not that the government didn't have a vested interest in any possible terrorist cell that could make an entire village disappear without a trace. Regardless, none of that concerned Chad and his squad as they deployed in the hills outside of the village. It didn't phase the men when they walked into what can only be described as a slaughterhouse. Corpses lined the streets, half eaten and some still twitching. Chad could feel something in the air, but by the time he and the rest of his squad reacted it was already too late. Abominations of all manner descended upon the squad, and after several hours of a fighting retreat only Chad escaped into the desert. He demanded answers from the brass when he was debriefed, and when none were forthcoming he did his own digging. Big mistake. They came for him in the night, arresting chad under the charges of sedition and treason, pinning his squad's death on him and using him as a scapegoat, claiming he sold his brothers out to the fucking ragheads for as many bearer bonds as he could carry. They locked him up in Fort Leavenworth, and it was here that Chad was when the whole world fucking imploded. By the grace of god he managed to escape, and arriving in the Leavenworth he used the skills he acquired to tactically acquire what he needed to survive from the town's gunshop, a national guard armory, and a weaponsmith. Thus he burned away what was once chad and became an urban warrior, Sir Chad. Eventually he hooked up with a group of survivors, and wanting to atone for being the one man to survive his CAG squad, he was determined to keep these people alive or die trying.

Everyone in the group starts at "Motherbase" An apartment complex that your group has rigged up and secured from the infected, however it's starting to get a bit run-down and the power and heating shut off last weak, the damp rain outside hasn't been doing much to help conditions, you've all agreed your best option is most likely to attempt the journey to Iceland, after all you've been preparing for the last month and amassed enough clean food and water for six weeks.

Backstory: Chad was a member of a brotherhood, a marine. He was spec ops, Pakistan, combat applications group. He was delta force. It was in a routine combat mission in the hills of the Hindu Kush region that Chad encountered what were to become the infected. An entire village, all of its people, sick with some unknown illness. A whole company of Pakistani regular army troops disappeared investigating it, any thing that went in didn't come out of that mountain village. Eventually they reached out to american spec ops to help, not that the government didn't have a vested interest in any possible terrorist cell that could make an entire village disappear without a trace. Regardless, none of that concerned Chad and his squad as they deployed in the hills outside of the village. It didn't phase the men when they walked into what can only be described as a slaughterhouse. Corpses lined the streets, half eaten and some still twitching. Chad could feel something in the air, but by the time he and the rest of his squad reacted it was already too late. Abominations of all manner descended upon the squad, and after several hours of a fighting retreat only Chad escaped into the desert. He demanded answers from the brass when he was debriefed, and when none were forthcoming he did his own digging. Big mistake. They came for him in the night, arresting chad under the charges of sedition and treason, pinning his squad's death on him and using him as a scapegoat, claiming he sold his brothers out to the fucking ragheads for as many bearer bonds as he could carry. They locked him up in Fort Leavenworth, and it was here that Chad was when the whole world fucking imploded. By the grace of god he managed to escape, and arriving in the Leavenworth he used the skills he acquired to tactically acquire what he needed to survive from the town's gunshop, a national guard armory, and a weaponsmith. Thus he burned away what was once chad and became an urban warrior, Sir Chad. Eventually he hooked up with a group of survivors, and wanting to atone for being the one man to survive his CAG squad, he was determined to keep these people alive or die trying.

1. Bob was a bit out of shape. Its been a while since he had to run after his boys. He'd jog the way back to get back in shape. (Train Athletics)
2. It was probably best if Bob left the Coolers back at Motherbase. Surely not everyone would have been as lucky as he had been and running around with them served little purpose.
3. Back at Motherbase Bob had nothing to do but sit around and contemplate what he had done, something he really could not do for long. Instead he would go out once more to scavenge things he could use to reinfroce motherbase and make it a more secure location until they eventually decided to move on.
