cb674e No.37393 [Last50 Posts]

Rules:

Everybody co-operatively controls every sentient being

Everybody votes on an option, sometimes I will give examples of possible solutions sometimes I won't.

Every round, you are encouraged to make your own suggestions to be voted on.

More than one suggestion can happen in a round if it is possible that the suggestions can happen independently of eachother (eg. two events happening on either side of an isolationist) world

If a group of people are left without "guidance" for long enough things will happen out of your control (kind of like NPCs)

This will update everyday so long as there is atleast one suggestion/vote

The first decision:

How fantastical is this world? (Magic but not fantasy races, fantasy races but no magic, fantasy races and very little magic etc.)

re: fantasticality

Magic is the stuff of life, life cannot exist without it, however, USING magic (without blowing yourself to bits or flying off to another dimension called "Sydney Australia" or turning into a kangaroo for no apparent reason) requires training and focus.

There are fantasy races, but the only way to obtain magic is to make a deal with an extra planar being.

cb674e No.37402

The races are innumerable, and the magic is difficult. There are two main ways to gain access to its use, hard training and extraplanar assistance. A third, less common way is to place once self in an optimistic (oft refered to as "gay") mood, however, this method is extremely dangerous, as it is almost certain to lead into a joy spiral that ends in one's death.

Magic exists but only in specific cases when granted by the Voting entities aka the Players

It cannot be obtained independently by NPC parties and its power and content will be determined on a case to case basis

If NPC interact with 'extra dimensional' forces this will be considered as a delusion adressed to a fictional entity with the Players being able to listen in at their lesure as omnipotent and omnipresent beings

Creatures great and small cover this world but some stand taller than others. Elves and gnomes run wild through the forests, Dwarves scavenge for mountain berries and Man travels the great grass plains.

Magic, while undiscovered by any mortals may be granted to individuals if voted upon by players.

Now what happens upon this world? Where do mortals settle and practice agriculture? Which race will progress first?

(Note, rather than voting for a suggestion, you can instead vote against one)

The first dwarf who dared to dig from the top of the mountain to the heart of the world forged the magic of fire into a red gemstone he found at the heart of the earth.

A leaf torn by the wind fell from a magical tree and formed into an elf before touching the ground. The elf would grow to dance in the winds from sun to moon, and the winds would dance with him. Their harmony became so attached that the wind would follow the elf and the elf had complete control of it.

Or in short:

Magic of the fire forged into a gem held by dwarves.

Magic of wind bestowed on an elven hero.

While Dwarves have only just reached paleolithic, hundreds of thousands of years after most other races, Gnomes have already begun creating semi-permanent settlements. They move all around the worlds forests still but stay in a single place just long enough to reap the crops they plant. Humans have begun to be known as the wandering shepherds to other races as they master animal husbandry before any other race.

An Elf by the name of Iantumaros is the first creature to demonstrate magical abilities. He is able to cast magic that twists the power of the winds

A dwarf, more intelligent than his underdeveloped brethren, claims to have snatched a flaming gem from the deepest tunnel. He is named chief for his ability to cast pyromancy. Chief Adils

Unable to grow their own food, Dwarves have begun trading with Gnomes at the base of the mountains where the last tree stands. They provide flint blades to the Gnomes who in return provide the Dwarves with food. The Gnomes realize that without the need to move with the game that they once hunted, they can stay in one place making trading much easier. The first permanent settlement has been set up. In the East of the city is a large trading district where the Gnomes trade with the Dwarves while in the west are many farms where the Gnomes grow the food. Meanwhile, on the very same mountain range, Yetis have begun worshiping a pantheon of old gods.

A group of Humans lead by an oracle travel deep into the desert at the North of the Western Continent. Over half of them die of dehydration and heat exhaustion before they finally make it to the promised oasis where a small town is started as fruits grow plentifully and they live off of their livestock.

The Dwarves and Gnomes refine their trades and instead the Dwarves provide the Gnomes with raw materials such as flint and stone.

Because they no longer need to move with their prey, the Dwarves create permanent settlements in the mountains where they can best access the deposits of flint. This town often sees the occasional yeti pass through the area and they have begun converting the Dwarves to the religion of the Old gods.

The Humans of the Oasis take to worshipping the God of the Desert and the Goddess of the Oasis. They are Husband and Wife. While the Husband is a harsh master to the people the Goddess of the Oasis is caring and merciful. Men and women behave strongly according to their patron diety.

Large (about large dog sized) Slugs begin to inhabit oasis grounds. Their sludgy meat is a delicacy and their sludgeness is used as glue for constructions.

In the Mountains creatures are born from rock. Trolls, blessed with harsh skin and regenerative abilities are of little intellect but calm temper. Physcially strong they are able to smell out precious metals and stones up to several meters under the Mountains rocky surface, which they then dig up and eat.

A sheer enormous Serpent like creature now inhabits the worlds oceans.

The Humans in the Oasis grow in numbers and adopt the Demonym "Oasian" and their city is named "Oasia"

Lizard folk set up a permanent fishing settlement on the archipelago.

Formorians begin sacrificing and eating sentient beings in the name of their new god. Creatures are drawn into their underground lair, beneath the North-East continent by its seeming tranquility.

The chief and his confidants of the Gnome village see the worship of the Old gods as a threat to their power as now there are thought to be beings higher than themselves. The chief invents a new religion and to draw his people in, it claims that Gnomes are a greater race than any other and are destined to claim the world. He is now the ruler by choice of the divines and enstates a Theocracy.

Some merchants begin turning to a life of farming so they don't need to deal with the lesser Dwarves. Because of a lack of competition, the other merchants can now set higher prices making themselves richer. Unfortunately it also means starvation for quite a few Dwarves as they have become dependant on the Gnome traders for food.

Some gnomes go out to the "untamed lands" and spread the word of both civilization and gnomism which strengthens their numbers as the city expands to support the now larger numbers. Some Dwarves tetering on starvation willful submit themselves to slavery in return for food.

The Human population continues to grow and so does their reach of the desert.

Fomorians begin throwing their own people into volcanos, significantly hurting their strength in numbers.

A Human, given the ability to communicate with demons has created an artifact that, unknowingly to him, forces the demon and the owner to swap lives under the guise of "eternal life" for the artifact to work, it must be filled with blood and/or tears.

Weak from both starvation and old age, the Dwarven chief leaves behind what may be his greatest legacy. Greater than the Dwarven village. In one of his final days he discovers he can use his fire magic to draw the lifeblood of stone. His is the first creature to use metalurgy and the Dwarves discover bronze.

The Drog'dha begin terrorizing Gnomes so naturally the Gnomes fight back. They are able to capture some very young Drog'dha which they beat into submission and slavery but ultimately, they lose most of their forces due to flimsy, flint blades.

The Yetis that pass through the Dwarven settlement begin trading food in return for warm, sheltered places to sleep. The Dwarves see their first taste of diversity as a single Yeti builds a large house where he allows people to sleep in exchange for goods and services. He calls it an inn.

Instead the weapons are sold to private buyers, mostly land owners that produce a large amount of crops. Those buyers then build their own militia and soon there are a few very small armies that work independently from one another.

On the Grand River a group of explorers from Oasia and the families they've created settle Riverland. They're too far away from Oasia for the chief to rule efficiently and so the town becomes independent. The two lands are very friendly and trade wood for glass although the travel into the desert is fatal for many merchants and a significant amount of goods are lost to the sands.

Oasia, now no longer needing the trees of the Oasis, begin planting fruits. They have discovered agriculture and share the secrets with Riverland

The Formorians are divided once again. Their tribe is split in twine as half of them believe their god is man while the others believe it is a woman. Most of them are killed in the ensuing war between the tribes. They are projected to die out in the next few decades.

The Dwarves become resentful towards the Gnomes. Their culture is full of Gnome stereotypes that often play the part of a fool or villain in their stories.

Elves create a permanent settlement to farm crops and large amounts of marijuana.

An offshoot of Gnomes that have Dwarven heritage known as Hobbits see the prices of food as ridiculous and head South East, to create their own commune.

Due to a short drought and a lake of a nearby river that isn't a mere shallow stream, a very small amount of Gnomes die of dehydration.

The people of Oasia and the Riverlands enjoy an incredible friendship. Even though Riverlander faith begins to deviate as the Father's heavy hand is much less powerful in the green plains. Oasians and Riverlanders consider themselves as one who could not be without the other. Many draw a comparison to how Mother Oasis and Father Desert oppose each other, yet belong together.

Some Oasians make a living out of guiding Caravans through the desert. They become experts of navigation and survival, being commonly referred to as priests of the Desert God. When somebody 'needs a priest' they are usually seeking someone to guide them through the desert.

As life is easier in the Riverlands forms of philosophy and poetry begin to become more common place.

Elven scouts begin to roam the nearby lands in search of resources.

Born from indecisiveness over who should lead the Dwarves and resentment for outside forces the Dwarves take to a new form of leadership. Each Family would select a Patriarch, a representative of the Family who would determine the course of the Dwarves together with the other Family Patriarchs. As a very basic concept with no real rules to draw on the meetings are usually a mess on all things which are not fully supported by anyone.

The Formorians, now weak from infighting, are attacked by Orcs. Most are killed but some are "mercifully" spared and instead enslaved. This is divisive amongst the Orcs but one thing can be agreed on: all Orcs hate Formorians.

The nomadic Trolls, like the Goblins, begin creating monuments as a respect to the dead. These come in the forms of henges and mounds.

The Winter Elves of the South West mountains awake from their millenia long sleep and with them comes forgotten disease of the primordial ooze.

The Hobbit population begin to flourish as their farms grow and produce great amounts of food. The most desireable attribute in a Hobbit is how well they farm and so the secrets to farming become something passed down a blood line. Soon techniques such as irrigation, fertilization and soil quality are kept from others. Monogomy becomes one of the most significant parts of Hobbit culture so a farmer can pass his secrets along without unintetionally passing them on to someone elses son. The worship of the Old gods is soon adapted to uphold the virtue of monogomy and marriage is created. To determine the new difference in religion, the Hobbits adopt the term "Elderism".

One family becomes extremely prominent when taught of animal husbandry by a band of explorers from Oasia in exchange for irrigation.

The Gnomes are still plagued but the Drog'dha. They cannot effectively fight back due to a lack of organized military.

One of the wealthy land owners manages to use their militia to hold a band of Oasian explorers captive. The explorers are not skilled fighters and are easily defeated.

Rather than exchanging goods, some humans from Oasia and Riverland trade their services. This is mostly unheard of in the Human settlements however escorting caravans provides some with the food to support large families. Due to lack of habitable area in Oasia, some of these large families move to Riverland greatly increasing their population.

The Elves known for their cultivation of marijuana send out scouts to look for resources. Unfortunately they stumble upon a camp of Drog'dha and are slaughtered.

Some plants grow inside the homes of these Elves. Not all the Elvish dwellings are affected but the ones situated particularly closer together all have a large leafed vine that sprouts from the floors and walls. When one of the Elves touched said plant, they began screaming for 26 hours straight and when they calmed down described a burning sensation. His arm is still red and raw 3 weeks later.

Different families of Dwarves adopt a "Patriarch" which, due to polygamy is usually a brother rather than a father. These Patriarchs make up an Oligarchy where they represent their families. While a lot less efficient, the Dwarves are happier with this leadership.

A small band of Oasian explorers stay at the Yeti Inn. While staying in town they reveal the secrets of animal husbandry.

Oasian scouts return, mostly influenced by Dwarven stories they tell tales of the Oligarchy, Monogamy and the rotten Gnomes. This view is reinforced by the fact that Oasian Scouts who entered Gnomish territory did not return. The only other people the Oasians came into contact with (the Hobbits) tell almoss negative stories, making Oasian society very cautious towards gnomes. Sparked by these tales the first foundations of Milita Bands among human settlements begin.

The idea of irrigation quickly spreads from Oasia to the Riverlands.

Hunting becomes prominent in the Riverlands where much game can be found in the forests.

Relations between Dwarves and Hobbits begin to improve over shared resentment of the Gnomes. Hobbit trade begins to replace Dwarven-Gnomish trade relations.

Gnomes are unsettled at the prospect of Hobbits replacing their trade, the ruling caste begins to spread nasty rumors about Hobbits among their own population.

A human beggar, dying of thirst in the desert, drinks the blood and tears in the obsidian case, which he finds in an old saddle-bag laying half buried in the sand. The human beggar becomes the first vampire, though the obsidian case is stolen from him by a gnome thief a short time after this.

Oluscani, jelly/ooze like creatures with flabby & blubbery bluish-gray to purple-blue semi-gelatinous see through tissues & visible organs, begin to prey on orcs, coming out of bodies of water at night, each oluscani about 7 feet long, and usually with between four and ten 5 foot long tentacles with non-poisonous but painful stingers, the creatures diet organs, bone marrow, and brain matter.

With the introduction of irrigation, Oasia is finally able to expand its borders and its population begins to grow.

The scouts tell Dwarven tales which almost always include a Gnome antagonist which spurs vilification of the Gnome people.

The talk of different gods, monogomy and different governance in the South starts philosophical debate in both Riverland and Oasia and culture begins to flourish. People develop an alphabet and system of writing so they can preserve the stories exploring good to evil and everything inbetween.

Due to animal husbandry, the Humans of the Western continent haven't needed to hunt in a very long time however the Riverlish have realized how some could consider it fun. Hunting for sport becomes a favourite past time however all the Riverlish believe it immoral not to eat all the food that is hunted.

The Spiders of the Grand River Forest flee deeper into the forest from hunting parties. Dryads begin to flee even further North West straying from their tree homes.

A family of Snow Elves use the preserved, hollowed out carcass of a giant mammoth as a hut. As Hobbits grow in number, a tradition begins to form among them. Hobbit Communal culture treats all Hobbits as equals, yet it is recognized some hobbits are better leaders then others. Small hobbit communities elect, by choice, one of their own to be their leader. All the leaders of the commune together, speaking for the smaller communities, then vote on major issues about the whole of hobbitdom. A Dwarven high priest of Stellarism one day wakes up with the glazed eyes of a blind man. He still sees however he also seers the future.

The magic elf creates a Treant to lie in slumber, disguised as a tree until his people are endangered.

A prophet named Theobart sent by different gods emerges in the Gnome town. He begins preaching the ways of equality between races. At first it lands on either deaf ears or the ears of disempowered slaves. After a while however some younger, rebelious Gnomes, inspired by the words of the new gods, start a slave revolt. The slaves flee to the Dwarven settlement and the rebels are almost killed by the other Gnomes when Theobart steps between. Using his magic of the wind and storms he allows the rebels to run and hide but the prophet is captured and stoned to death. The worship of the new gods is outlawed however underground sects appear throughout the city due to the martyrization of the prophet. Hence Theobartism is formed.

Seeing this uprising, the head of the Theocracy enstates a new law that entitles the church to a percentage of whatever the Gnomes make or grow so that they can create a law enforcement system. Whatever is not used is distributed back to the people.

Faced with the threat of false prophets the Gnomes begin to form a Militia to serve the Theocracy, it is granted near limitless power as it acts on direct orders of the church. The Church retains the right to conscript whomever they please, services are paid for however by the percentage contribution.

Giant Spiders begin to tell tales of their Great Escape from the East where their Ancestral Homelands lie. Imagery weaved into large webs spanning between trees commemorate the events.

Mass Starvation taking hold among the Snow Elfs Cannibalism becomes a more frequent occurrence. The tribe who have tasted their fellow Elfs experience periods of powerful frenzies which make them stronger, faster and highly erratic, though their Elfanity seems to erode as their skin becomes even paler up to a point where black veins become clearly visible. Due to its new found strength this violent Black Blood Clan begins to dominate the surrounding Snow Elfs.

The new disease spreads among the Dwarves. Some claim this is the Snow Elfs fault, however others claim that it is a punishment by the Old Gods, as the Dwarves set idly by when the Gnomes enslaved, slaughtered and drove out their Dwarven kin.

Central Grand River Forest is known as the Webbed Forest and is covered in tapestries made from Giant Spider silk as they pass on the stories of how they were driven from their land by the Riverlish. The North Western area is known as New Forest for obvious reasons.

The Blackbloods hunt and outbreed the other Snow Elves into extinction and soon cannabalism becomes the social norm. Small populations of Snow Elfs who had not yet tasted their fellow Elfs flesh flee to Dwarven and Yeti lands. Among them are some half breeds, children of those with the Black Blood and without. It will take generations for this influence to fade entirely while a single consumption remains sufficient to turn a Snow Elf into a Black Blood.

Snow Elfs realize that more Cannibalism seems to grow power, if not exponentially but the less the more have already been consumed. For obvious reasons not wanting to eat their own people tribes begin to raid each other, some feeding Champions of incredible power, others spreading their new powers more equally, all of them becoming increasingly mad. Usually Snow Elf children will receive their first piece of Snow Elf when they Come of Age.

War for the Dwarves becomes a matter of the Patriarchs. Families depending on their size are required to supply adult men to defend Dwarvenkind. Having more family members able to fight and wage war is a matter of Pride and Prestige.

Sparked by the creation of other Military forces the humans too create seperate Militia's. Most of the fighting Riverlander men are also farmers, a large part of Oasian fighters are Priests of the Desert God who travel the desert as guides and occasionally hunt the various creatures that inhabit it. Riverlander Hunters and Oasian Priests appreciate their similarities and some of them even hunt together.

The Elves hear tales of another type of Elf, feasting on its own kind and growing powerful. Disdain for the Snow Elfs is quick to gain a hold among the other Elves, they are considered as impure and to some extend flatout evil, still there is little interaction to begin with as what little Snow Elfs exist outside of their homelands live in Dwarven and Yeti lands. Some Hobbits begin taking multiple wives so they have a more expansive family. This idea goes directly against the tennants of Elderism and the issue of whether it should be socially acceptable becomes divisive. Some strict Elderish families actually prevent their children from interacting with the children of polygomists.

The multiple wives lifestyles means an increase of population and so the borders of the Hobbits expand.

One Elderish family is the first to discover rubber from the sap of a tree. It is not shared with the other families.

Goblins begin the arduous task of taming a ferocious beast. They learn the skills of animal husbandry and soon are flying on the backs of wyverns.

Giant Spiders, with their numbers weakened from the human hunting parties begin hiding in the canopies of the forest. Unffortunately, they are hunted also by the Raku now. Their numbers begin to dwindle.

Dwarven lands become even more widely diverse as they accept Snow Elf refugees. Their population, while not what it was before the great famine, begins growing once again.

Goblins discover this cloud and after trying to communicate, instead hang flower leis from their neck.

The Hobbits continue to be divided. The Elderish begin conspiring and the Communalists notice that they're not getting as much food as the Elderish when it's redistributed around the commune.

The Giant Spiders begin burrowing underground to escape from the Raku.

The Magmite begins creating an assembly of Fire and Lava elementals in the volcano south West of Oasia that he can rule over. These elementals are creations of the Magmites and don't actually have free will.

In the central, tropical continent, where the mountains meet the ocean, Dwarves begin killing and eating the beached whales. This becomes their biggest food source.

After finding an underground gathering of Theobartists, 7 Gnomes are stoned to death by the Church of Gnomism.

Groups of Riverlander Hunters and Oasian Priests band together in Hunting Parties and set up joint hunting lodges. Some of these groups gain reknown for slaying dangerous beasts. The first Monster Hunter Guilds are created, practically unregulated they mostly consist of likeminded individuals who often teach their children how to hunt and introduce them to the Guilds. Some friendly rivalries between various groups exist, though they are limited to boasting.

The Magmite's many courtiers are continuously busy plotting against each other. From an outside perspective it would appear that the Magmite is the only sane presence, bringing justice with patience and wise decisions, meanwhile his courtiers descended into madness further and further, paranoia and insanity are commonplace among them.

The Goblins refer to the Undead as Seekers, creatures in search of something. Possibly an artifact of great power. What exactly it is remains up for debate and though none of their stories are founded on anything one Goblin tries to top the story of the other by describing the artifact as all the more outrageously powerful. Mostly children actually believe that such an artifact exists.

Goblins riding Wyverns claim dominion over the Heavens, hunting the Raku that roam their skies. Many Chiefs and other Wyvern Riders wear Raku feathers to represent their status and built their Thrones from Raku bones. As a result of this Goblin Thrones have somewhat of a Uniform look, with the large Skull and Beak as imposing headpiece.

The religious Pantheon advocated by the Elves matches well with the ideas of Theobartism. Theobart as Protector of Justice and Equality is added to the Elven Pantheon. Many believers find refuge in Elven lands, however those who possess too much to abandon remain in Gnomish lands, continuing to further their Sects in Secret.

Gorth reanimates a troll chief, successfully creating the first intelligent undead, a troll wight. It isn't a genius creature by any stretch, but it isn't a mindless soulless entity either. More importantly, it is the first undead who can reproduce itself, without gorth. The constant use and study of necromancy is warping Gorth's body and mind. The Troll wight begins to reproduce, it's victims becoming wights.

Gorth was one of it's first victims, he is no longer steadily reanimating beings, though he has retained necromantic power. Gorth became a wight.

Elder things fight Oluscani in the seas, but they (the elder things) don't venture to land. The contest is prolonged and inconclusive.

The far northern elf races begin to systematically hunt the gargantuan (30+ ft. long) elephantine seal. This is a difficult, dangerous hunt, but basically it involves spearing the seal until dead and using torches or small fires to keep the creature from returning to the water, where it usually easily escapes, IF, it makes its way back to the water successfully.

Idk about the invention of the rubber bands which were apparently invented somewhere in the 1800s if most people from the looks of it don't even possess a written language.
