Great Empires rise and fall, but the Free City endures. Some say the blood spilled in the Great Arena brings the favor of the gods of all lands, others whisper that the Senate is full of immortals that play the game of thrones decades ahead of all others. Another year of games have begun in the Arena, luring in those that would seek their fortunes by providing the Arena with fresh blood. You are one of those that would call themselves a Gladiator Manager, sending both slaves and free bloods to their glory or deaths in the Arena. Or perhaps you're some sort of crazy that wishes to enter themselves into the games and claim the glory you know is rightfully yours?

Heralds of the Senate cry out the will of the Free City's governors in the streets!
"By decree of the Senate, this year's games will begin the race to the Arena Champion title early! Any gladiator that earns twenty-seven points earns the right to challenge last year's Arena Champion to lay claim to the honor, and then must defend their claim for two games! For the honor of the gods, let the Arena be stained red!"

>Race: High Elf
>Fluff: A wizard and monster tamer. Alimeer has always been interested in the rumors that some monsters, such as owlbears and blink dogs, had been created by a wizards. When he began to learn magic he dreamed of replicating the accomplishment and making his own monsters. Although he never reached that point he did learn some biomancy in the form of healing and, taking a warning from the rumors, learned how to tame monsters so they do not turn on him. As he neared his the end of his apprenticeship he realized that the creation of monsters would, most likely, be seen as useless in society. Especially for guards, which ended so well for the wizard in the rumor, and letting them into the wild is out of the question. He decided that the arena shall be the home of his creations, when he is able to create them, and the home of the monsters he trains. Scrounging money for a few years he bought his first monsters from monster hunters and officially became a manager.

>Fluff: The archers of the Black Bows have served the hands of kings and emperors, and sometimes the heads of them to others. An elite mercenary corp of snipers and archers, able to pin a gnat between the chinks of a man's armor without killing insect or man.
As a captain of the Black Bows, Alareslik the elf is in charge of finding suitable men and women to add to this company. One does not simply join the Black Bows, they are selected as an archer selects his target.
And here in the arena is their trial by fire. Alareslik is in charge of organizing and gathering only the finest archers he can find, from deadly nogai who fire from the backs of horses, to deadly yeomen men and elves of the woodland realm, to even the former bodyguards of kings or marksmen in armies seeking wealth or prestige or to be part of an elite.
Here in the arena he tests them, arms them, even molds them for what is needed of them. Many try, few succeed, and the elimination is harsh and deadly.
But one day, at the end of it all, they are that much closer to being handed down a bow as black as the cloak of death itself.

As soon as he was of age, Günter went to war, desperate for any way out of the miserable rut of his life. His hesitation towards killing and questioning of orders made him a poor soldier, especially for a famed tiefling, and he found himself in the same situation as before. His unit failed to accomplish much in the war itself, and the entire section was brought before the Arena to redeem themselves. I can't believe both of my slaves were beaten. I've been spending a long time coming to grips with that fact. If they recover, they recover, but i'll not spend any more time or gold on disgraces that lost me money.
1. It's time to browse the slave pits for some more big brutes. Hopefully ones that are better at fighting than the dross I bought last time.
2. Again, i'll attempt to make contracts with blacksmiths. Large armour and large weapons are going to be expensive, unless I can get them on-side somehow. Maybe I could employ some to live in a workshop off my villa, and do all my commissions for me.
I know! I'll start a business. Make money off manufacturing and funnel the profits back into equipping my slaves.

Fluff:Julius woke one day on the side of the Ibiseron, among the fields of juniper along it's shores. He know not where he came from, no where he was going, but sat up and followed the river to a great city, the Free City, where he soon found a home in the great arena of the city, the Coliseum. The man was a natural with the gladius and hasta, the pilum and scutum. Some say he was blessed by the gods, but he never saw it as such. He took the skills he learned as a gladiator and set about the ancient world looking for purpose. He found this purpose in training fellow gladiators. His skill in the arena paled in comparison to his skill as a teacher, although many would call his methods rather… harsh, his pupils often found themselves with laurels on their brows, instead of blood and steel.

>Race: Vampire
>Fluff:
Pattence was somewhere in the middle in a long line of vampires. Initiated and raised to become a warrior he too as all immortals learned to fear death more than any mortal ever could. Perhaps this could also explain his unnatural fascination with the subject.
Forever the Great Arenas had been a place for warriors to test their mettle and only those who learned quickly succeeded, the others ground into dust. But then Pattence thought to himself, what if people had a second chance? And a third? And a forth?
Taught in the arts of Necromancy Pattence took up the worst of the worst, warriors that lacked all skill and ability, to fight over and over again. They would have their limbs cut off, their heads caved in and after every defeat they would rise again, as Pattence hoped, a little more able than the last time.
Though perhaps a rather unorthodox tactic to train one's Gladiators Pattence believes that eventually his training will spawn an able gladiator or two.

"You live -here-? In this mess? Does your roof even keep the rain out?"
The night seemed to vanish after you showed her that your bed and quarters were perfectly dry, explaining your vision for the villa and your mighty gladiators.

The slaves train hard, and your focus upon Prov and The Slayer show promising results!
The Madam Matron + [Amateur Stand Up Philosophiser]
Dayrl & The Slayer + [Novice Melee] [Strong]
Meanwhile, Prov follows you around. Surely he'll stop any assassins, right? Your villa isn't much more than a walled square roughly twenty meters across, though the ruins of several buildings besides the humble wreck you and your slaves sleep in still fills the space.
As you search for any sort of secret area around the wall, Prov points out an odd pair fixated upon you. The first is a bound and gagged drow, clad in that unflattering human burlap material. She must be ready to kill the entire city just from that insult alone. The second is the human man that looks to own both your fellow drow and the cart she is chained to.
"You there!" He hurries over toward you while a younger version of himself sees that the cart follows. "This bitch here killed my eldest son during a little raid by your kind, but I see a particular hatred in her eyes for you! I've an offer you may wish to hear…" The look in his eye reminds you of the Matron before she had the skin flayed off of slaves out of boredom, but far more focused.
After learning that the human's only desire was to know the killer of his heir suffered for the rest of her life, you agreed to take her into your growing gladiator collection. The white runes around her neck and down her spine glowed as a drop of your blood completed the ritual that would be the man's ultimate revenge. This elf was bound to you for the rest of her life, runes both compelling her to obey your command and ensuring that her life would end if yours did.
If the man cried for his son or the small fortune he paid for this revenge, you'll never really know.

Growing up as a mere urchin, the demonblood kept alive by thievery and intimidation on his own - after all, no one would donate to a tiefling, but few would come near one without the proper measures. Günter had considered merely ending his life when he was forced to take that of another's, but his rage has been slowly building over the embarrassment of his existence, and the tiefling has decided on the sands of the arena floor that his axe would be stayed no longer.

Though it is somewhat impressive how she managed to slip out from that crowd and attach herself so firmly to my arm, I now have no idea what to do with the elf that's slowly merging with my bicep. I'm gonna shake my arm a bit and see if she comes off. No? Of course not. Fucking hell, she's suffocating my arm. "You're draining the blood from my arm." Gunter stares for a few more moments at the terrified woman before sighing, continuing to move throughout the crowd. "If you're gonna pretend we're a prancing Elven couple, you mind at least telling me your name? Can you speak? Anything?", the young tiefling says with a hint more gentleness than there usually was in his down voice. Regardless, he was heading back to his own house - if the woman wanted the split off, she was welcome to, but from the look in her eyes she wasn't about to do anything other than squish my arm anytime soon. What the hell was someone so waifish doing watching an illegal fighting ring anyway? And what was up with that scream when I, uh, accidentally squashed that half-elf back there? Probably not best to ask about now.

The elf doesn't seem to understand your words as you sit her down and awkwardly cover her up by using her clothes as a blanket atop her.
You're exhausted by the time she finally stops trying to undress and falls asleep.
Later that night, you're awoken by laughter. "My my, aren't you the noble one, Red?" The nude elf straddles your body with her legs, resting her upper body against your own. "Such a gentleman, treating this little toy like that other one didn't give me her will and much more."
Your assailant shifts her body against yours, a decidedly un-elven grin upon her. "Don't worry, Red. That fool attempting to bind her will to his own didn't doom your soul to be my treat. I'm just stuck in this little elf for a while, and it isn't so often I'm bound to kin like you."
She lifts herself slowly, still sitting atop you, until her eyes peek over the breasts of the elf. "Clarissa, of the plane of lust. I hope I don't need to explain it all to you, Red." Her eyes glow a soft red before returning to the elf's natural green.

Gunter shifts awkwardly under the elf, still unwilling to shove the waifish figure off his muscled body and twisting his head to the side of the nearly rock mattress to avoiding staring at her nudeness, though his expression was more of aggravation and understanding.
"Wonderful. Just my Gods-damned luck. I've got a succubus under my - S.. STOP RUBBING AGAINST ME. NO STRADDLING." The red-skinned soldier takes a moment to push an elvish hand away from his breeches.
"For the record, I'm not a gentlemen, and sure as hell not noble - just not a fucking idiot like every other asshole in this city. I don't know whether or not you can take what tiny little sliver of a decent soul I've got, but I'd rather not take the chance, Clarissa. Especially not in a body that doesn't belong to you in the slightest."
After readjusting himself to not allow the naked elf such easy control over his pinned body, Gunter speaks again, before Clarissa can say anything in her assumed body. "Wait a minute, the shithead with the mask was trying to bind you and I fucked it up? You're telling me there's a demon summoner in the city - and a goddamn incompetent one, too? And, uh, can we discuss this with as little of you taking what precious humanity I've got as possible?"

My new orcs will not compete. I may be a harsh taskmaster at times, but I will not send my gladiators out unequipped and injured.

>Name: Pattence

+ [Quirky Necromancy] It will take some work to get your plans for your gladiators to work, but it isn't like you've got plenty of time to get it right.

1-2. The plan was actually not to fucking sparkle at people but to get out of the city undetected by employing a network of already set up escape routes and diversions so that Pattence would manage to make an unseen escape should any of his secrets be discovered.

>Name: Geda Maal
>Race: Kor
>Fluff: Hailing from the nomadic Kor, Geda joined the ring out of necessity - for a crime she is loathe to recall, she was exiled from her pilgrimage and punished to fight and likely die in the pits. But though she has been stripped of honor, she carries the pride and culture of her race - asceticism, faith, adamant perseverance, and a love of hooks and ropes. They are her favored tool and weapon in any scenario, like most of the Kor.

>+Roselia the Escaped Slave
1/2 - Geda has fought men in groups before. She may have other gladiators "helping" her, but now they were only competition in the goal to get the most kills - or the most slaves. She resorts thusly to type, keeping the rebels at bay with her wide, rope-based swinging attacks and grappling them in close to either finish them off or, when the fighting is drawing to a close, even keep one for herself.
And by that she means let them be free, she would never willingly propagate the cycle of slavery.
Yes, free.
Totally.

Syeed's the good shot, but it's clear Bela has the tactical sense. Let's hope she knows how to pull both of them through this situation.
Remember: More important than shooting to kill is shooting to disable. You're not the only team out there either, the other's are fighting the amazons to. You work with the melee ones and put them between you and those Amazons, and support them with ranged fire.

I will keep my old rolls.
However, actions will reflect 1v1.
Syeed, you've only got one shot at this, their faster, trained at the spear and foot, but you're a good shot with a bow.
Take body shots and make sure you hit. If you have to draw and hold until you see the whites of her eyes, do it.
You're a deadshot. I don't expect you to miss.
—
Bella. . .I feel as though you've known how to handle yourself in a fight. I don't have to tell you to win this, because I know you can.
You can, but more important make sure you will.
