dfb5b7 No.31921 [View All]

Welcome to Neo York, the year is 2156, and the world is in shambles. Mankind has taken everything that has been given to him and squandered it in pursuit of his own personal desires. Though many tried, and some succeeded, in stemming the decay of civilization, the world we are in now is very different than the one that existed a mere 150 years ago. The Resource Wars of the late 2050’s saw much of the countryside of many nations reduced to wasteland, and thus mankind found themselves confined to the great archology-cities that they built in the early 2020’s, a green movement briefly taking hold in the wake of an unprecedented volcanic activity around the globe. These Archologies, dormant for years, now hold the bulk of Humanity as the world heals from the scars of war. This time of healing was too long for some, and thus humanity looked to the stars in the late 2080’s. Now the rich bide their time on Earth, eager to finally settle their affairs and leave for the colonies. Or spend their time in the great floating cities anchored to the space elevators in high orbit around the disfigured Earth. The middle class and the poor being left behind to deal with the sins of their forefathers. This is where you come in, whatever or whoever you are. Neo York is one of the many archology-cities of North America, but it is by far the worst in terms of crime and corruption. The rich watch from their Floating city suspended above Manhattan, the Mega-corps’ offices located in Manhattan proper, where salarymen work their lives away for a mere chance to ascend to the realm above, and once there, further on to new, unmarred worlds. In the Bronx the middle class roils and riots as they are pressed on both sides from the poor and the gangs of Brooklyn and Queens, ever hungry as the disgusting nutrient paste they receive once in a blue moon runs dry, and tired of constant raids from the Neo York PD, and the ever encroaching gang wars from the south. Staten Island fares hardly better, some semblance of order is had there, but it lies solely in the whims of the Criminal syndicates that control the Island, manipulating the lesser gangs to keep the brutal NYPD distracted and away from them as they plot their own way to get off this hell hole. In the mean-time the common man struggles to come up with things to keep them from getting bored to death. As such once dangerous practices like street racing, widespread recreational drug use, and even casual street fights and murder sprees have become common place. Biker gangs are common as young men desire to go fast and break skulls, both to get what they want and escape from the filth that surrounds them, unaware that they are merely pawns in the great game of chess going on around them. A widespread street racing circuit known as the Orange Line enraptures the entire city, both rich and poor alike, as men and women do anything to win, and the rich salivate over the massive amount of betting that occurs over the race. Even the virtual world is not without its attempts to monetize and exploit the man. In a great online game known as WarWorld, professional players fight pretend wars over real world advertising space, and in the darker reaches, deathly real simulations of the darkest depravities of mankind are lived in the “Black”, a full immersion neuro-simulator. In this dying city on a sickly world, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and the men in-between are squeezed in the schemes of the former. What’s a man to do in a world like this? Well my friend, its simple. Whatever the hell you want.

Name: Jess E. Nightsoil

Fluff: Every so often, the conservative arguments put forward about the nature of human evil and freedom hold merit. Every so often, an example of such feared assertions can be found, and those examples do much to support the most draconian impositions on human life – faced with such trauma caused by such creatures, human liberty must yield and all things good are left a shattered mess of violated tears. Indeed, such men, if they might be called men, are are hard to find, but they do exist: men like Jess E. Nightsoil are of sort. They are evil. Pure evil. but in no simple way that is simple or average – men such as him traumatize societies and cause them to question their own blood, doubt their faith, fear for their children, and hate their fellow man. Perhaps it is right for them to question these things: men such as Jess are inexplicable, awful, and persistent. They have no cause, and no solution. They frighten all souls. They are pointless in their viciousness. Utterly pointless.

Name: Marcus Sigal "Shaper"

Faction Name: Yigdrasil

Fluff: Marcus is a bright man, if idealistic and stubborn. He received good grades through college and majored in biology and genetics. He dreamed of researching and creating biotech that could revolutionize the world and maybe even allow people to spread around the world while allowing it to heal. Those idealistic dreams were shattered with his hiring into the research department of a prominent megacorp. A few years later the lab was destroyed in an accident and while the corp covered up everything that had been going on in the lab Marcus was missing and presumed dead in the accident.

Soon after a mysterious man only calling himself Shaper appeared in Neo York's criminal underground.

Faction Fluff: Street doctors, living weapons, poisons, drugs, cures for cancer. Yigdrasil is a strange organization founded by the mysterious Shaper. Selling gene modding and biotech through the criminal underground. Their agenda is only known to the higher ups, but they are known to pay well and give good prices. There is a rumor that everything they sell was created by Shaper and those directly under him. Some say they set up labs in old forgotten tunnels beneath the city.

Name: 'Deep Sewer Dweller' Robert Sterling

Fluff: Robert was born down here where people rely on each other and everyone has a duty they are proud to fulfill. Anything could have happened during the Resource Wars and the surest place of safety was deep beneath the surface. People invested technology that was state of the art and devoted their lives to building communities that could survive in harmful and even dangerous environments.

Sons inherited their father's trade skills and possessions but I have also been blessed with an intelligence equal to any task involving technology. The old and worn power armor no longer functioning and the hammer that needs new batteries, wiring and other things will have to do against the mutants and beasts that populate the deep sewers.

The systems have begun to fail and the only solution is to send someone out for the parts needed to fix them or be dispersed and forced to make the journey to the surface and start new lives from the bottom.

The Home is sick, need parts to fix home so family does not die. Must go up to find parts, I shall return.

1 Check the other Homes. All men were of one mind, one purpose, in the Great Construction but left to their own communities the people would form their own movements over time. That was a Veritas, a Truth in the old tongue maintained in my family. The facts would have to be discovered in the individual Homes and the Deep Sewer.

2 Find a path to the Upper Sewers. The Deep Sewers, untouched by the skytouchers would require vigorous will to delve through but it is that fact that gives my family safety from the ruinous touch of the skytouchers.

3 Train [Smashing II]. There was a cleverness in fighting and weapons that only man in his might and wisdom can see. How to smash, where to smash and when to deploy his strength to better reach his goal. To survive out here requires a man need a robust set of skills.

Name: Hailey 'Junk Storm' Dunlap

Fluff: Some people dream of escaping this hell and going to space. Hailey dreams of racing through this hell at speeds that would kill most people. A scavenger with a natural sense of machines and a growing library of books on engineering, Hailey wanders across Neo York with a touch of charisma and a dream of becoming the Orange Line champion.

Though she is unaffiliated with any gang or megacorp, Hailey usually has a contact with any given faction. Without them, she'd have a hard time moving about the city to search for parts to build her championship racer. To keep her little garage and workshop, she often works long into the night fixing up some bit of salvage or giving someone's ride an upgrade.

Name: "Doc Kludge"

Faction Name: Sons of the Wrench

Fluff: Kludge is the current Grandmaster of the Sons of the Wrench. He achieved his position after his predecessor Doc Boom was executed by the NPD during a ceasefire between the Sons and another gang. Kludge is old, nearly seventy, born during he space boom. He grew up in the slums and learned from an early age how to fix things when supplies ran low. He's always had a way with machines and metal, and a large part of the infrastructure that still runs in the SotW territory is based off his work. As most senior member still surviving after the ambush, he was made grandmaster unanimously.

Faction Fluff: The Son of the Wrench are 80 years old. They formed during the space rush when supplies and other essentials started to be allocated elsewhere. Where as other gangs strong-armed people into The Sons used a softer gentler, approach fixing things and taking volunteers. This worked until the NPD started cracking down across the board and raging brutal war all over the lower city. the once idyllic(by lower city standards) territory they once had was destroyed, and they were pushed back hard. As the sons were unused to dedicated fighting. Eventually the Sons stabilized themselves, but this was after a great deal of loss, of men, of territory, and of resources. Now what little they have left is fortified ruin housing their workshops and members, surrounded by as many traps and defenses as their engineering acumen can manage.

1/2/3. There's naught for me up here, as nice as the day is, and my quest will take me to the depths of the city. There's places that I've never dared to go, since I was afraid of getting lost. Now, though, I know that even if I never return to the surface, my scavenging skills can get me by for the rest of my natural life down there. Hopefully, though, it won't come to that. Today, I'll keep an eye out for electronics, weapons, and chemicals. You'd be surprised what you find in the places that were kept secret before the wars.

Faction Name: Steele Incorporated [Eagle Corp]

Name: Joseph Steele

Faction Fluff: Steele Incorporated has been owned by the descendents of Adam Steele for over two centuries now, the latest of which is Joseph Steele. They are, today, among the longest-lived corporations in the world, and by far the oldest megacorp. The secret to the success of the Steele family has been relatively simple - the idea that a Steele is made, not born. Steele Incorporated began in 1941 as Steele Arms, producing munitions and weapons for the Second World War, and made its fortune switching to heavy industrial manufacturing before its competition in 1945, rising to the national level as a reliable and efficient producer of advanced materials and industrial supply. Since then, the company has been in a state of perpetual growth from a line of pragmatic and uncompromising owners, branching out to biotechnology, electronics, security and agricultural production under the banner of Steele Incorporated, with its backbone fully rooted in its ever-expanding factories of heavy industry. Steele Incorporated pays the single best salaries in America, for which it demands - and gets - the best labor force, researchers, and security within it. That doesn't mean they play nice.

Fluff: Joseph Steele's father was not incompetent by the standard meaning of the world, but he was for a Steele. Failing to expand the corporation's influence or power significantly over a fourty-eight year period of control, his only notable achievement was a rebranding to 'Eagle Corp', as he felt that the personal name of an individual as the face of a megacorp was out of date. The first thing Joseph Steele did upon coming to power was to change the name back to Steele Incorporated. Of all the Steeles, he may be the most ambitious, as Joseph intends to make full use of the Steele Incorporated machine for what his predecessors could never fully obtain - absolute power. Steele is not a cruel man, nor is he unjust. Instead, he is cold and singleminded, driven by the thought of wiping out the weak and inferior corporations that intend to compete with him, of building a city, and a world, where a man's fate rests only on his own shoulders.

It's rumored that a close friend of Steele's father and member of the board had, on Joseph's third day in power, gotten his son appointed as a personal adviser to Steele himself, without his consent. In response, Steele had him thrown off the building's top floor, and reinstated the Board as directly below executive management. Steele fails to think in the terms of rich and poor as they are today given, but instead in the terms of the competent and the worthless, producers and their leeches. This has won him few friends among the corporate elite, but a deadly efficient corporation.

Fluff: Abandoned as a baby with nothing but a basket, a blanket, and a wrist band with her name on it, Sascha certainly did not have stable childhood. Apparently, raising a child and having them indebted to you is worth killing over in these chaotic times and Sascha went from house to house either from her guardian(s) being killed or kidnapping, either way, Sascha grew up without any real loyalties and a ton of experience. There may have been screw knocked loose somewhere or she was simply this way to begin with because Sascha might be more deprived than even the rich folks and the gang bosses, though you couldn't tell from just looking at her, or could you. Surprisingly, unlike the last time you did this, they didn't spray that awful red stuff in your eyes and attack you with their purses. Instead they just get up and walk away.

1. You spend the first part of the day fixing up cars and hover cars and even a bicycle or too, and the people are very thankful for it. A little old lady who's beat up trans-am you fixed at the buttcrack of dawn even comes back later to give you a REAL whole APPLE PIE. How did she even find real apples? Who cares, its delicious!

Gain Item: + [Apple Pie]

2. After a quick bit at the Drag and Drop Dinner on fifth, you head on over to Sarah's place. The dusty old ramshackle tenement ain't much, but Sarah likes it that way, less peeping toms, she says. Anyway, you buzz and she lets you in. You discuss business matters over a hot glass of coffee, same old same old for the most part. You're almost ready to start making your goobyes and leave before a little story she lets slip catches your ear.

"It was the damnedest thing darlin! A full block TZR 746-Z Roadmaster just parked in the middle of Fordham, you would not bee-lieve the won wan won waa waa won waa….."

Her wounds turn into vague sounds in your ears as you imagine the the large beautiful car just sitting there, all vulnerable and….. mmmmmhhhh….. powerful.

You rush out the door and down the stairs into the street.

3. As you run down the street you ring up all of the vendors and junkers you know trying to secure favors and promises to help you get this baby to your shop in one piece. If it is in as good of shape as Sarah said it was, then you might be able to start racing in only a few weeks, as opposed to the many months it would take you to finish your project car.

>>32158

1. You send your boys out to the scrap yard to get some usable sharp pieces of shit to stab people with, but it seems that some prick from across the way is watching the scrapyard too, as the first guy you send out to fetch scrap gets grazed by a bullet from some rifle across the street.

2. Your men take to beating each other with the monkey wrenches you have. It goes about as well as planned, which is not at all.

3. In the dead of night you march across the street and break into the housing complexes around your project, beating everyone that looks dangerous to death with your wrenches. One man in particular distinguishes himself, ripping out the teeth of the men he's killed and making a fashionable shirt out of them. Rattleshirt is what the men call him now, and he's deadly.

1/2. Cassidy marches into the security office where Corporal Natalia Petronkav watches over the vast amount of cogitators and relays that feed the NYPD supercomputers the data they need to maintain some sort of idea as to what is going on in this city of 100 million and up individuals.

She stammers and looks to you unexpectedly "S-sergeant Cassidy sir! We were not expecting you today!" She stutters out through pursed, thick lips.

You notice her shapely form, and how her body resembles the smooth and supple shape of your MAXXguard Plasteel Handcuffs, how she has the unknowing look of a guilty criminal waiting to get caught. By the cuffs she is just asking to get detained. "Corporal Petronkav, what's the word…" you raise your eyebrows unconsciously while staring at her cleavage "…. around town?" You say as you place your hand down her flak armor, cuff in the other hand. "S-ssi-SIR, the city has a record low crime report rate today *uunnnngghhhhh* sir!" She moans as you fondle her bright, bouncy, shiny NYPD badge.

"A shame, I always liked a bit of…" You place your hand on your FOXHOLE LTD gonad guard "…Trouble."

You then cuff her to the desk and start unbuckling your pants, keeping and eye on the vidscreens on the wall, a video of a small, frail man running very effeminately out of a general store, illegal firearm in hand.

"I'm gonna give you a hot load of JUSTICE Corporal, prepare to be detained!"

1. You spend the morning chopping and soldering bits and pieces onto people, cutting them out and shoving them in. Do something enough times and eventually you'll become good at it, and you find that to be somewhat true, as the lad you're taking the cybernetic eye out of now with a rusty spoon is screaming and bleeding a lot less then the old lady you did it to this early morning.

All she wants is to have lunch with you once a week and she'll get you whatever you want.

3. While your out for "lunch" your men get to work fixing up your shithole of a shop. Throwing out the rats, the bums, patching the holes in the walls and the holes in the roof. And the piece de la resistance is the new Harness they found in the basement, which will double your production.

1/2. Things have changed G, many of the names you knew when you were around are gone, and things have gotten even harder. The gangs are fighting even more then when you were around, and Screwfie somehow managed to come out almost on top. The boys you send out only manage to find one gang that is even willing to talk to you know, the last of the old gangs to still be as tru G's as they were when you were the King. The 3rd Street Saints. Their leader, called simply "The Boss" said he would be willing to talk to you, if only for old time's sake.

3. You mosey on over to the next street over, to the somewhat busy KKK club. After some nice "talking" to the owner you manage to find yourself the new "protector" of the place, in exchange for a "protection" fee.

1/2/3. You pull up the manhole 20 ft from your "house" and head into the depths of the city. For some reason you don't stop when you reach your normal depth, you keep going and going and going. Its so far down now that no heat from the surface breaks through. A loud banging is heard above you, along with what sounds like a man grunting. Undetered you head farther down. It is in a long hallway that you find your prize. A Personal Vault, which were bunkers built in the undercity during the resource wars incase of MAD. This place is fully stocked, as it seems that its intended residents never arrived…

You look out from your executive office at the city below, this disgusting shithole that you have to wallow in. Your view is not as nice as others though, as Steele Towers is dwarfed on both sides by other megacorp buildings. There's no denying it, Steele has had a rough past few decades, and the 40 years under your weak father did it no favors. But you are different, you will see this company rise to the stars themselves, with you leading it, and you wouldn't hesitate to burn this city to the ground to accomplish it.

1. Broken Plassteel. In a mix of disbelief and amazement Cassidy eyed his malfunctioned piece of equipment down on the way to the armory. He would have to get it fixed, or replaced even? Either way he would give whomever was working there a few questionable comments about how a suspect could break handcuffs as easily. For reasons of discretion he would not get a whole lot more specific about the 'suspect' in question.

2. He had a cool pistol and didn't know how to use it properly? It was time to stop firing hot loads and start firing hot lead! Heading down to the shooting range Cassidy uncomfortably rubbed his left hip with his wrist. Felt like he sprained something.

3. After getting his Handcuffs replaced and some time practicing his aim it was time to join the other boys at the shooting gallery. Heading back up he would look for some emergency calls that would preferably not involve all too much running or physical activity. Perhaps he could even fill in for one of the Detectives and act like a complete fucking idiot wasting everyone's time with investigations that would come up with nothing anyway. Cassidy high fived a passing officer without a word. Fucking Detectives.

1: There's a significant amount of unattended cash left in the treasury that my Father never saw fit to use, for some incomprehensible reason. Our production has fallen behind recently, and we're not meeting full capacity as we should. The first thing to do will be an expansion of all Steele Incorporated core industries, starting with expanding and improving our factories in The Pitts. I also want to begin the rotation of a higher quality of workers; Steele Incorporated pays the best damn salaries in the country, and the men that are here aren't living up to them.

2: Additionally, a doubling of our Biotech/Research facilities is in order. The beginning of new product lines meas that I'll want to assign one of our newly-constructed factories to the production of our biotechnological and electronic lines, producing the first Steele Pharmaceuticals and Steele Technologies cyberterminals. Since most of our branch offices outside Manhattan have shut down, I'll need to deal with the low production from only producing within Manhattan. The Steele Incorporated logo is still as good as gold and I'm going to damn well ensure it stays that way. Demand outstripping our supply will allow expanded production in no time.

3: Finally, an expansion to our Security offices is in line. Though security contracted at each facility is enough to handle issues there, for a growing company, ensuring that security is large, well-equipped and properly-trained is essential. I pay a much, much better salary than the NYPD and most smalltime firms, so we shouldn't have any trouble getting good men and good arms for expanding security. Not only are they good for keeping things in line - in a city like New York, good security makes a tidy profit helping out the NYPD and other Corps.

HP: 20/20

Inventory:

+ [Rusty Unpowered Power Armor]

+ [Rusty Unpowered Power Hammer]

+ [Boomstick] (6 shots)

+ [Fiery Stabby Stick]

+ [Healthy gogo Juice] (3 Doses)

+ [Time Stoppy Goop] (1 dose)

Skills:

+ [Smashing II]

+ [Tinkering I]

+ [Armorer I]

Bonus: [Drums from the Deep] – Deep down where even the stink from the city does not permeate, you and your people wait, and they thrive. You know things the skytouchers have forgotten, and you delve in depths that even the brightest minds above cannot comprehend. +5 to research and dealing with unusual stuff.

Connections: None

Followers: None

– Other things may be added as necessary –

The Home is sick, need parts to fix home so family does not die. Must go up to find parts, I shall return.

Ah The Soon, how could these people live here knowing that The Soon would one far away day grow large and red perhaps large enough to consume the Earth or enough to make surface dwelling impossible.

1 Find a workshop. Tools, experience, people. I have heard of the automobiles, armored two-ton protective vehicles for protecting people and goods to be moved from place to place. I could work on and repair the armor and workings of these vehicles that protect people in this dangerous world.

2 Tinkering II. If i was going to continue my stay on the surface I would need skills to earn my keep. +5

3 Make friends, Observe, favor the surface people with my aid. I have no great wealth to my name, nor do I have the technology to create what my Home needs but I could make friends and have accumulate favors with people who do have those things. It would take time and many friends.

Louie's crew really needed to stop taking their mothers' cars out for joy rides.

Stat Sheet:

Name: Cord Silverman

Fluff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4IISUZC33Q

There are relics of the past left in the old abandoned parts of the city: the old tenements, the sewers, the subways, and the trash heaps which dot the city. There are men who plumb the depths of the old world to bring these treasures to light. Some do it to make a profit. Some do it to build a collection. Cord Silverman does it because he believes that the secrets to humanity's salvation are preserved in the dark places where man has not walked in over a century. Something within those catacombs of the past is the key to saving the world. Perhaps it is some great technology, which will send mankind to the stars. Perhaps it is an ancient weapon, the wielder of which could unify mankind and impose order on the chaotic world. Perhaps it is simply a find of such great value, that the scavenger Cord Silverman will take his place among the rich and powerful of the world.

Fluff: Dire Mike has no known history or origin. Lacking any records, the man is known only for his peculiar street name and his extensive cybernetic enhancements. You don't fuck with a man that has a chainsaw arm.

Faction Fluff: The Wireleggers are Dire Mike's racket of black market cybernetics dealers. They supply and run multiple "chopshops" where citizens can pay a modest fee and get cybernetic prosthetics or graftings without having to deal with any of the legal hassle or the extraordinary waiting times. Of course, there's quite a bit of -interest- on the payments. Cybernetic surgeons are few in number, and a shiny pair of cyber-eyes or a chrome-plated cyber-arm aren't exactly cheap…
