The date is June 22, 1941. For two years the great war has raged, and for two years the mighty Third Reich, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, has spread across Eurasia. The Nazi party has changed germany. No longer is it crippled due to world war 1, no longer will it tolerate the jewish and non-aryan, and no more shall it be trampled upon! The Third Reich rises across europe, and the Axis powers shall take the world by storm!

On this day the Eastern front has begun. The largest and most brutal military campaign in human history. The Holocaust, operation Barbosa, and more all take place along this front. As a glorious soldier of the Wehrmacht it is your sovereign duty to rid of communism and the jewish, to cleanse the world of all that stands in the way of the Reich.

Hitler believes in you, Germany believes in you. Now all you have to do is survive the horrors of war…

Having taken part in the invasion of the Lowlands and consequently France Wilhelm left much of his boyish naivety behind, having experienced the thrills of combat on several occasions. Though the youngest of the Schnitzelbergers had initially hoped to be one of the select few to invade Britain he was assigned to the Eastern front instead, where he would serve in Feldwebel Fleischer's unit.

Fluff: Pressed between the choice of labouring away in a dull refrigerator factory and fighting for Germany, young Sachsen chose the latter after hearing of the glorious opportunity to be an tank operator. two and a half engagements, a totalled Panzer I, and a reassignment later, and Sachsen has found himself under the wing of a womanizing sergeant as well as what in his mind is the comparatively lumbering piece of machinery known as "Hässlich", a long-barreled StuG. While not exactly agreeing with his Furher's policies, he finds the aesthetic of the Heer he stands in and the machines he operates completely intoxicating, and would rather spend all day playing dress up, tidying his uniform, and washing Hässlich with the team's ever dwindling water rations. Operation Barbarossa begins. At this very moment air strikes, artillery shellings, and blitzkriegs take place along the Soviet border. Major Polish cities are devastated by luftwaffe bombings, the Red army suffers artillery attacks along every line of its front. Over three million Wehrmacht soldiers advance across the Soviet border, and you all are with them…

>June 28th 1941, 6 days into Operation Barbarossa

The Unterwatchmeister's Half-track advances through the ruins of the bombed out city, the ground rumbling as it lowdly rolls over the debris of the unprepared Soviet city. Inside of the Half-track Wilhelm, Artur, and Konstantin, sit alongside seven other german soldiers. Smoke billows from the surrounding buildings as fire's eat away at them. Not even the cold of the soviet land can cool down the flames of war. A few tall buildings still stand, worryingly unhit by the heavy bombings that destroyed every other building.

Behind the half-track Kai and thirty other men warily move through the ruins. Being that they have to pass through the buildings themselves they get to see the after-effects of the attack. Body parts lie around, there torso's long gone. Corpses lie bloated and bloody, heads missing, stomachs torn by shrapnel, eye's heavy lidded as they unseeingly stare out at the soldiers passing by.

Meanwhile Gotlieb moves his tank up a side road and by an extensive alley network, Gerald manning the main gun as they watch for any attacks. Eight men sit on the tank as it lists side to side, long barrel uneeringly aimed straight ahead.

A group of three Rifleman enter a still intact home. Almost as soon as they walk in there is talking, shouting, and then CRACK! There is the almost deafening sound of a rifle fired, followed by three more shots. The three walk out of the home alright their guns having just ended the lives of a family that did not manage to escape nor hide succesfully.

Other than that there is no activity…for now. The Half-track and tank Operators recieve orders over the radio. They are to stay in the city for now, and secure it until the remainder of the Wehrmacht forces arrive in around two hours. Both vehicles move into defensible locations, and the half-track disgorges the infantry inside of it.

>Free actions to talk, set up, lookout, and more are all allowed right now.

"Didn't think we'd be back in Poland this soon.", Wilhelm started a conversation he perhaps should have had 6 days ago, "Of course it was only a matter of time until we were going to take care of the Soviets, but still.".

While he talked Wilhelm's eyes wandered over the buildings that popped up in his field over the edge of the shielding every now and again. Scanning high vantage points was essential, snipers, MGs and other Red Army vermin would be doing their best to get every advantage they could.

After they get in a good area the soldiers go off to do what they can with the little leeway they have. Gerald sends in a request for more AP ammo while he and Gotlieb discuss the best boozes to drink and Artur goes off looting a nearby building. He doesnt find much of value, but with some luck he manages to find a necklace in a broken drawer. Better than nothing it seems. Meanwhile Kai looks over the men to make sure nobody is out of line. He sends out a request for more HE supplies on the radio and goes back to work.

Hans, Konstantin, and Wilhelm sit together by the Hanomag. Hans writes a letter home to his girlfriend, Konstantin reads about the Fuhrer's struggle, and Wilhelm strikes up a conversation with the two of them about returning to Poland after so long.

The cool air of the Polish homeland blows through the city gently, and there is nothing but silence until the familiar sound of gunfire is heard. The only issue with that sound is that it is the sound of a sniper rifle.

One of the soldiers still sitting on the StuG falls off as a bullet pieces his chest. The other soldiers move immediately as the air is broken by the rattle of soviet gunfire.

Konstantin and Wilhelm jump off the Half-Track and run to cover while the rest of the unit moves into better positions. Another two soldiers drop before cover is fully attained. Bullets rattle off the StuG as it turns to face the enemy, and the familiar rattle of a tank is heard coming down a side street as the soviet attack begins.

"Wilhelm! Get down!" Konstantin yells as a barrage of Russian bullets flies over the cover the two men are in. "These damn cossaks don't know when to quit!" 1. Fuck. I hate snipers. Well, I hate Russian snipers. I mostly just hate Russians. But I digress. My first priority, after reaching cover, will be to try to find out where the sniper is. I could use reflective surfaces, like windows, or by using any reflective items I might have in my inventory, like the inside of my compass. If I see him, the glint of sunlight in his scope, or his muzzle flash, I can move on to the next step. Failing that, I could put my helmet on top of my rifle, and hold it above my cover a bit. Sometimes, the bastards are so twitchy, they'll go right for it. From the bullet hole, I might be able to get an idea of where he is. Then, I can search for him using my reflective material of choice. [Locate sniper safely]

2. Once, and if I locate him, I can try to find a vantage point where he wouldn't notice me. IF I can do that, I will try to hit him with an 8mm bullet in his chest, or really whatever's sticking out. If that doesn't work, I can just lob a grenade at him. [Counter-snipe or grenade the enemy sniper]

The soviet assault begins in earnest as the Wehrmacht react to the attack. The air is filled with the distinctive sound of PPSh-41 fire, the standard SMG of the soviets, as it spews bullets at a rate of 1000 rounds per minute and forces the german infantry into cover.

Two german soldiers run to cover only to be shot down by sniper fire. A set up MG-42 remorselessly mows down soviets from the safety of a building, ammunition belt rattling as the predominate sound on the german side becomes ripping cloth.

Konstantin and Wilhelm set up another MG42 on the ground, and Konstantin begins letting loose suppresing fire while Wilhelm confirms the enemy position for him before using his MP-40 to maximum efficiency. As they focus fire a soviet lights a molotov to throw at them, but a lucky shot on the bottle causes it to burst in the man's hand. The air fills with his scream as he burns alive…

Meanwhile Artur dives into cover, bullets spattering against wood and brick as he gets near a window next to a blown out wall and see's the enemy tank moving up with a number of soldiers. Cursing he moves away with his pistol and heads back to the square area to find Kai. Artur kicks open a door and runs right into a soviet with a Ammo belt around his neck. The man goes to bludgeon him in the closed space but with his pistol already out he manages to shoot the man in the head before he can reach him. Artur then gets into a corner, and sees a soviet lighting a mollie. He aims and pulls the trigger, and is awarded with the sound of his screams before moving on.

Meanwhile Gottlieb and Gerald move the StuG to the middle of the grounds, hoping to defend the infantry as they begin turning the vehicle to the advancing enemy armor. Kai moves with the vehicle, Panzerfaust in hand, before he is roughly grabbed by Artur and moved towards some buildings while being told the position of the armor. He gets into cover as three of his countrymen are killed along the way. He and two other men then get into position as they see the tank moving up with a clear line of sight.

Aleski soon manifest next to Wilhelm and Konstantin, having managed to find safety alongside them. Taking his knife, some gum, and a mirror, he attempts to locate the enemy sniper from relative safety. He thinks he gets a mark before the Knife is shot out of his hand. Deciding that if there is no risk there is no reward he sets up his rifle at a different location and searches for the sniper. Gun held tight he sees one of them and fires off a clip. The man goes limp and falls forward on the last shot, and he begins searching for another clear shot.

Despite the efforts of these men the fight is going in the Soviets favor. Grenades and bullets take their toll, and the StuG is forced to back up as a bazooka fires upon it and almost damages it. Hans moves his half-track up, the gunner letting off a torrent of rounds before a shot in the throat leaves him gurgling on blood. A grenade explodes and kills two of the men in the vehicle and with Hans luckily unwounded he takes up the machine gunner's weapon.

1/2. This is what I came here to do. My path towards justice begins here, and it will end in Moscow. It's time to adjust my senses, and prioritize shooting. My comrades have my back. Even better if the soviets don't see me. The only place to aim is center mass. If I hit something important, the target will go down. If I hit his head, he'll hit the ground like a sack of bricks. If I hit a limb, that keeps him out of the fight, at least hopefully, and might sever an artery. Target priorities will be the people who look like they're doing some sort of commanding: Squad leaders, and hopefully an officer if I see one, which I probably won't, but who knows.

The soviet advance is swift, brutal, and unyielding. Even as the wehrmacht dig in and defend against the enemy they suffer heavy losses. Machine gun fire fills the air, the sound of screaming and explosions following it like some twisted chorus of war. A red armyman manages to flank a german position, his gun roaring as he guns them down without mercy. A trio of soldiers pass over a german laid mine, and are blown to pieces without a chance to react or even notice their doom. The assault is so overwhelming the germans are pushed back deeper into the town, and forced onto the full defensive.

Wilhelm, Konstantin, and Aleski do their damnest to hold position under the torrent of lead being fired at them. Konstantin and Wilhelm attempt to lay down suppresing fire, gunning down anyone foolish enough to walk into their sights, while Aleski aims for clean hits on the advancing enemy soldiers. Eventually they are forced to abandon their position and retreat, but as they move a bullet hits Wilhelm in the shoulder and another in his leg. With a scream of pain he goes down, and Aleski catches him before he hits the ground. Konstantin then turns about and begins laying down fire on the move to support their retreat, before breaking off in the direction of the tank.

Hans attempts to fall back as well, but as he attempts to do so the Hanomag is rocked with an explosion. Moving from the front and to the rear he quickly jumps out of the half-track as a molotov lands inside, the flames reaching high in the air. With bullets flying above his head he gets up and makes a break for cover, reaching it just as soviets walk past where he just layed. Pistol ready and lucky charms on his person, he prepares to face the enemy…

As the communist tank comes into the sight of the StuG it turns to face the tank under the orders of Gottlieb. Main gun primed and ready the order to shoot is given just as it comes into clear view…and what they see is not good. It's a KV tank! Almost immediately Gottlieb orders the StuG to back up as the heavy tank turns to face them, immune to anything they can throw at it. It fires off one shot that blows a part of the StuG away even as it rapidly backs away from the unstoppable force of this new opponent. Kai takes his clear shot on the tank along with two other Panzerfaust but they do nothing to it in the slghtest. They then are forced to fall back as the enemy infantry turn their attention on to them and fill their cover with grenades and bullets.

Sprinting through a half destroyed building Artur runs into Konstantin, who he is quickly grabbed by as he tells him a plan that is, quite frankly, insane. The two argue for a second before Konstantin manages to drag Artur into a building overlooking the route the tank is following through the city. Artur and him then prepare for what may be the dumbest thing they will ever do in their lives…

1. Gottlieb frantically searches for the miniature fire extinguisher in the cab, which he manages to find after a few seconds of fumbling around and coughint. The HE shell the KV has fired has done some internal damage, but it doesn't look like it's pierced the hull. Gottlieb produces one of his cigars and lights it on the flame, puts the newly-lit cigar in his mouth, and then awkwardly sprays at the fire with the crew fire extinguisher. One of his eyes is closed as the foam seems to get everywhere. [Fire extinguisher/damage]

2. After that, Gottlieb starts shouting commands. His command is slightly muffled from the cigar. "LOAD. THE. AP AND GO HULL DOWN! We need to hit that fucker from up close or from behind! GERALD STOP FUCKING AROUND ON THE GUN AND GET US BEHIND IT YOU BAVARIAN PIGFUCKER!" [Engage the armor in a favorable way; peek out the hatch if required]

Soldier Job: Tank Assault Gun, get the terminology right! Driver

He dreams of eventually becoming a tank commander himself.

He was opposed to the idea of using violence to achieve ends until he came home, dragging a reindeer that he'd killed, to find his house destroyed, and his wife and children burned. By the time he had begun to apply to the army, it was too late. The war was over. As soon as he could, he joined up with the Wehrmacht, with the desire to march into Moscow and kill every red bastard he saw. It was in the army that his skills as an alpine hunter were put to good use. Little did he know, war would once again erupt between Finland and the Soviet Union. He cares little for the racial and political policies of Germany, and lives only for revenge.

1. "Hey, Wilhelm, you're going to be okay, yeah? Those red bastards can't do shit to you, kid. You're tougher than they are. Come on. Stay with me, friend." Aleksi just kept talking in a similar vein, as he attempted to fireman-carry Wilhelm away from the fighting, taking whatever routes he could, in an attempt to get as far away from the gunfire as possible. He intended to go back, of course, but he had to get his comrade somewhere safe before he could go back.

2. Once he found a safe place, Aleksi uses Wilhelm's Kampfmesser to cut away the clothing over his wounds. Since he's not a medic, Aleksi knows two things: Pressure and elevation. He washes out the wounds with water from his canteen, and then cuts Wilhelm's clothing into strips, which he tightly ties around the wounds, encouraging Wilhelm as he works. After that work is done, he grabs whatever's on hand to prop Wilhelm's leg up above his chest. "Keep it there, and keep pressure on it." If all goes well, the Finn can get back to the fight within minutes.

1-2. Now Wilhelm was no medic either, however he had seen his fair share of injuries. Though he liked Aleksi Wilhelm would be sure to look after his own injuries and double check whatever it was this man was trying to do, after all there were a number of stupid concepts going around such as cutting off blood circulation to stop the bleeding. A generally stupid idea which ended in loss of limb and that only if applied "correctly".

Making sure there was not much more done than trying to staunch the bleeding until a medic could get a look was his priority now. An unfortunately quick end to his second campaign in Poland.

The soviet onslaught advances in force as the KV tank relentlessly rumbles long. The wehrmacht soldiers are outgunned, and as such begin a full scale retreat. The red armymen hounds them the whole way, unwilling to let a single man live or get away.

Artur drags wilhelm into a building and begins working on his wounds. He applies pressure and checks them both while using water to wash away any blood. One shot thankfully went right through, but the other one is stuck in his shoulder. Thinking fast he takes Wilhelm's knife, grabs a stick, and tells wilhelm to bite down. Right when he us about to work on the shoulder there is an explosion inside his spot due t the KV-tank firing. The shell goes right through the nearby window, down the far hall, and blows the insides of the building to smithereens. Aleski covers Wilhelm, and though his ears are ringing and his vision blurry, he grabs Wilhelm and lifts him up with a struggle. The two men then quickly exit out the other way as they retreat.

Hans gets into cover succesfully as the bullets fly. He looks around for a weapon, ANY weapon, and manages to find a Ppsh next to a dead soviet. Picking it up he takes up a position and opens fire on the enemy, ducking into cover when burst of submachinegun fire lands around him. He doesnt sit in his position long though, as he notices his allies retreating. Hefting his gun he runs through buildings to group up with the rest of the unit…

Artur and Konstantin overlook the Soviet tank and prepare to jump. Grenades at the ready they are just about to run forward when a bullet hits Artur in the thigh. He falls to one knee, and Konstantin backpedals as bullets fill the window. He turns, grabs the wounded Artur, and begins falling back…

Lastly Gottlieb and Gerald put out the hull fire and begin to maneuver the StuG down a side street so as to get behind the KV tank. As they do so Kai comes near the tank, and yells to them to fall back with the rest. With nothing else to do they retreat with the company.

In the face of such overwhelming odds the position is lost. Of the 150 men advancing as part of the company over 62 died, 33 were captured, and 55 escaped. The soviets re-established control of the city, though likely only for a shortwhile, and are currently setting up defensive positions.

The men of the 25th company return to their closest base of operations in a large town, where they meet up with part of the main force. The company is restocked and its men are given a small rest as the wounded are tended to.

>Artur, Wilhelm, Hans, and Aleski are currently being patched up by the medics for wounds noticed and unnoticed.

1.2. Hans pulls aside several engineers to get Hasslich repaired. The damage doesn't look so bad, but there's some nasty spalling around the gun and some of the chassis exterior has melted and cracked from an indirect hit. Gottlieb tries to pull some favors from the pioneer teams nearby. [Fix Hasslich]

3. After that Gottlieb starts finding bits of scrap to fix to the tracks as a guard. He has no idea what he's doing, but it looks like he's sort of concerned about getting tracked. >Name: Wilhelm Schnitzelberger

>Rank: Gefreiter

>Soldier Job: Line

>Fluff:

Pushed by his parents to go and fight for new Lebensraum in the East Wilhelm enlisted shortly after the invasion of Poland at the age of 17. While he attempted to lie to the recruitment officer about his age the ruse was easily uncovered, however kind as he was the man let it slip with a wink.

>Equipment:

+ Wehrmacht Soldier Uniform and helmet(Condition: Worn)

+ Kampfmesser 42

+ 3 model 24 Stielhandgranade

+ 5 Magazines of Mp-40 Ammunition (formerly 6)

+ 2 Magazines of Browning Hi-power Ammunition

>Weapon(s):

+ Browning Hi-Power

>Supplies:

+ Water Cantine

+ Pack of gum

+ Pack of cigarretes

1. Restock on ammo, wouldn't want to run out.

2. Look around for AT grenades, could certainly come in helpful.

3. Practice aiming, certainly there should be countless opportunities to do so.

4. Regroup with Oberstabsfeldwebel Fleischer, getting order back into the formation was impecable to form a new and sophisticated counterattack.

Name: "Waffel" Gerald von Sachsen

Rank: Gefreiter (Corporal)

Soldier Job: Tank Assault Gun, get the terminology right! Driver

He dreams of eventually becoming a tank commander himself.

Equipment: Wehrmacht Soldier Uniform and helmet [Condition: Worn], Kampfmesser 42 Knife, 3 model 24 stielhandgranade, 100 rounds(20 clips) of Karambit 98 Ammunition, 2 magazines of Browning Hi-Power Ammuniton,

Weapon(s): Karambit 98, Browning Hi-Power,

Vehicle: StuG III, Ausf. A {Hässlich}{Damaged}

Supplies: Binoculars, Water Cantina, Two packs of Cigars

———

Actions

———

1. Once the repairs and refittings are complete, Gerald personally leads a group of like-minded indibiduals to wash Hässlich clean: if she was going to be worked on, might as well do a full job and make her look like she just rolled out the factory door.

2. Afterward, Gerald attempts to seek out a supply officer and ask of any AP shipments for one 7.5 cm KwK 40, or any shells fitting around that might look like AP ammunition.

3/4. Once the work on the ta- er, assault gun are complete, Gerald seeks out any supplies and functional cookware and attempts to make waffles for the crew, living out his namesake.

The remainder of the 25th company groups alongside elements of the 2nd panzer company, 28th infrantry, and 32nd company, to advance upon the recently lost town of Barsol. The combined arms force pushes through the mud and dirt as it proceeds back east towards the enemy position. Riding on the tanks, inside half-tracks, and walking on foot, they prepare for a harsh fight. With the knowledge of a KV ahead their engineers and demolitions experts were given extra munitions, while ap shells were loaded into the vehicles.

Aleski, Kai, Wilhelm, Artur, and Konstantin ride inside Hans new more fortified Hanomag. Its hot and stuffy inside of the armored car, but its better to be hot and stuffy than cold and dead. The gunner of the vehicle stays on the look out, his MG42's cold barrel scanning the area, ammo shaking as Hans ride them down the road behind a number of tanks. The Armored formation forms a formidable spear, a number of Panzer tanks and StuGs serving as the tip while Half-tracks and more StuGs serve as the inside of the spearhead.

Gottlieb and Gerald are part of the tip of the spear, their repaired StuG speeding along and prepared for combat. Gottlieb gives Gerald a cigarette as they rush towards the enemy position. The assault group protects a number of 88 guns fielded as a result of the information of KV tanks in the city. The air is tense as the 88's stop and set up while the rest of the blitz approaches its target.

It isnt long before the city itself is reached, but it is quite obvious that the russians are waiting. There is no sound of gunfire, no detonations, nothing. The unit splits up and begins its careful assault on the city, with Hans and Gottlieb moving down the main street as the rest of the squad gets out of the Half-track…

Fluff: Gottlieb joined the war early, and has been on the frontline since the fall of France. Gottlieb loves to smoke, loves women, and loves his StuG which the crew has named "Hässlich" [ugly]. In his spare time he enjoys puzzles, theater, and Goethe. While it is not typical for a sergeant to be in the command of a tank destroyer, Gottlieb's ranking comander was arrested for certain activities in France that would be best left unspoken.

1/2. First thing I'm going to do is try to keep low as we keep going. What the sniper can't see, the sniper can't shoot. I'll advance near the rest of the force, lagging a bit behind so that I can provide them with long range support when we get into a hairier situation.

3/4. While I'm following and staying low, I'll keep my eyes out for snipers or machine gunners on rooftops or in windows. Any of them could open up on us at a moment's notice. Chances are, they'll try to wait until we're surrounded by unseen enemies before they attack. Not today. Today, I see them first.
