I too like the idea of daily threads.

For our starting topic, my flatmate eats his cheese cold, and stores chocolate in the freezer.

It's not just me, is it? Cheese is meant to be eaten warm.

I've gained a vague sense of personal hygiene and a sleep pattern that now lines up with day/night cycles. I've got a long way to go before I'm able to start living independently, but it's better than how I've been doing for the last 7 years at least.

It's rough ain't it? I would slowly shift around the clock, usually about 2 hours later each day due to me staying awake as long as I could so that I could get to sleep without trouble. I pretty much sabotaged any potential opportunities I might have had during those years as a result.

I've tried that, but it just doesnt seem to work. :(

So this month i've finally given up the takeaways every day and my diet is actual food again, I think i've been going for about two weeks eating a bowl of cereal, an apple and a small meal every day. I've started reading more as well but that started in January and I've lost it a bit this month, I blame the fact that I started a 600 page book which was too daunting.

good luck mate. I haven't set a goal for it, but I haven't eaten a takeaway this year yet. Drinking more water instead of tea has just generally helped me too, I think.

As for going to sleep earlier, force yourself off your PC by 7pm or something.

Also not sure if it's broscience, but eating right before sleeping helped me to cope with the change.

Personally that didn't work for me, I would just keep going around and around the clock for years.

>>506
The things that helped me were:
1. Keeping my curtains open so you wake up to the sun rising and adjust to it throughout the day.
2. Keeping my overhead lights at about 33% on my dimmer after dark.
3. Using f.lux on my computer which gives the illusion of a lower colour temperature on your monitor after dark (monitors are usually 6500K which is only suitable for daylight, f.lux can set it to something more sensible like 2700K).
4. No videogames or anything that could raise my heart rate for an hour before going to bed.
5. Making it a goal to go to bed before midnight, and getting up before 9AM.
6. Knowing that it's not the end of the world if I fail to meet my goals, just have to keep trying.

And if you have trouble sleeping, try playing a meditation/sleep hypnosis videos on youtube from a phone or tablet. You might not get the full effect, but at the very least the droning and monotonous voices should send you to sleep.

Oh yeah that reminds me, MAKE A SLEEPING ROUTINE!

Having a series of events you repeat every night before sleep really helped me and will help you.

For example mine would be like;

Turn off computer
Floss
Brush my teeth
Take off clothes and lay out tomorrows
Have a drink of water
Make the bed & puff the quilt /pillows
Put on relaxing music, same track every night
Go to sleep

Just lots of little things done in a certain order, every night you repeat it will help consistent sleep.

Now whenever I do the first/second I'm practically asleep already.

That's definitely crucial too, as well as a wake up routine for the other end.

One of the hardest parts for me is simply getting up and out of bed after waking up, I often end up falling back asleep. I'm using an alarm, but there's still the odd times where I've turned it off and just not gotten up. I need to work on preventing that.

Just think of the TRIGGER WARNINGs, that's what pushed me over the edge. That plus the overly forced "humour" and farcical nature of the show. The main attraction at the very beginning was how surprisingly raw and unedited it was, when it was just two friends hanging out and playing games that decided to record themselves. It really filled that loneliness hole you get when you have no friends of your own. Once it became a "comedy entertainment show", it was all downhill from there.

The thing is I'm aware of how much of a farce its become, I don't even enjoy it but I just compulsively watch. At this point I feel I need to change everything I do on a daily schedule, I waste time lurking subreddits that I dont enjoy, watching youtube channels I dont enjoy and sitting around doing almost nothing. Other than the diet i've recently gained, I am happy with nothing I do.

Yeah I know the feeling well. If you manage to find an interest, hobby, or pastime, get yourself carried away with it to the point where you miss a shitload of episodes. Then it becomes this horrible task where you'd have to catch up with weeks or even months worth to have caught back up. You'll never even want to attempt it, and if by chance you do, it should seem a lot shittier than you remembered.

Can I suggest that, in addition to the daily thread thing, we ensure the current thread has a minimum number of posts before creating a new one. Like 100, 150 maybe?
