Went with my mum to Asda again to get some more clothes. Got 3 shirts, 4 jumpers, and 3 vests for £66, not bad.

Wanted to get some trousers and jeans too, but none of them were in my size. All the ones with the correct waist were too long in the legs, and all the ones with the correct leg length were too wide at the waist. I'll probably have to order some online, never bought clothes online before though.

Phones and driving, can't do either without feeling like I've had ten pints, cocaine, run a marathon and walked in on a dead relative all at the same time.

Driving and jobs isn't that bad because I can work my way around it. Phones though, every job I manage to get has nothing about phones in the description but then it changes.

Example, prepped hard and landed a job as a trainee account manager dealing with celebrities money as a fucking post-gcse dropout NEET of getting on 3 years. Description said the role would be admin only updating accounts, processing transactions and digitizing shit. (sounded too good to be true), but no I'm expected to take clients inquiries and make outcalls as well. Tomorrow will be my last day unless a miracle happens. The worst part is I've actually found the first people I can get on with in my life here. We play poker, talk politics and games. I don't say much but the dynamics are good and it works out, I hate to have to throw that away because of stupid shit.

There are a few steps you have to take before getting to the leaving the house stage, at least that's how it was for me. You're NEET though right, so there's no immediate rush to get out the door. I couldn't leave the house at all and my life was a mess, but I was going for walks outside within 4 months.

The first would be sleep pattern, and this is the most important step of all. I imagine yours is complete shit and you've seen more 4ams than you've had McDonald’s, right? Included in this is wake-up routine and getting-ready-for bed routine, and setting yourself time goals to achieve and not beating yourself up if you miss a few nights or even spend a month relapsing. I suggest aiming to get out of bed before 10am, and getting in bed before 1am, and shutting down your computer and stuff 45 - 60 minutes beforehand to give yourself time to get ready for bed.

Second or even simultaneously as they don't really conflict, but it may be too much at once if you're really in the deep end of NEET life like I was is personal hygiene. Things like brushing your teeth twice a day, increasing the regularity of your showers, using deodorant, etc. You don't have to go straight from never doing these things to doing them twice a day, just gradually increase the occurrences to something manageable until it's semi-regular. Getting your hair cut short and keeping it tidy is a pretty idea too in my opinion, and speaking of hair you only need to shampoo it once every 4 to 7 days depending on how quickly your hair gets gross.

Third is your bed and clothes. Changing your sheets once a week, change your trousers every 4 - 7 days, and your tops can usually be worn twice before they start giving off a smell, even if you can't smell it yourself. You'll probably need new clothes, but you don't need to worry about that yet, just know that nobody really gives a shit, and even if they did their opinions are worthless.

After a couple of months you'll get to a point where you're in a much better and healthier state to start leaving the house, but it will still be just a nerve-racking as ever. Which is why you'll want to start in your garden if you have one, try to go out there for as many seconds as you can handle, then go back inside. Your heart will be racing, and you'll probably feel irrationally paranoid that everyone is staring at you out their windows, but you'll have done it. Then you do it the next day, perhaps for a bit longer if you can. Then see if you can get out there and maybe read a book or even browse 8chan on a phone/tablet/laptop. The minutes will start building up.

Then you can move on to leaving the front door. The tip as always is to start small, do the shortest route you can possibly do that takes you away from your house and back to it. You'll probably be shitting yourself, and may even be feeling a physical strain on your body and worn out, that's perfectly normal if you've just spent years living as a hikki. Then the next time you do the same route backwards. Do that route as many days as you need to until you feel that you can go one street further. Keep upping and repeating, and your legs will build up strength, and your mind will build up confidence. I went from only being able to walk a third of a mile, to regularly walking 4 or 5 miles, within about 3 months.

Now, these are all things that I've done within the last year, and I was honestly unable to leave the house for years before then. I've never shared this here before, but here's a thread on 8chan I posted in January that you might be able to relate to >>>/improve/731 . Give the thread a read, I got some good advice in there that really helped me in the long run, particularly >>>/improve/753 and >>>/improve/754 . It's essentially what I just wrote out, I can't thank that anon enough for giving me a way out of that situation.

If you continue reading that thread you'll see many of my own excuses even to things I've since managed accomplish. Hell, I still do it in these threads all the time with anything I've never done before. I'm extremely prone to avoidance, although CBT has helped me a fair bit in that area. You probably won't even consider starting improving yourself or even believing you're capable of doing so until you really hit the bottom and have a breakdown. Although there were many years of the stress building up, the thing that finally triggered it was playing HuniePop. I wish I was joking.

You haven't wasted my time at all though, I'm happy to write all of that even if it may not have made a difference to you. first of all as an answer to the sleep schedule, for the most part i keep a regular schedule of 11pm to 7am (i get nightmares often so ill wake up at 4-6am and if that happens i go for a nap at around 1pm to catch up on hours lost), recently my pattern has altered because i enjoy watching f1 races live and so im on a kind of american time schedule now for last weeks race and also for the upcoming mexican grand prix, but my natural cycle will end up putting me back on 11 to 7

as for personal hygiene, im completely fucked, ill freely admit my brushing my teeth thing is down to laziness and the fact my teeth are fucked anyway, i get constant pain so im way past the point of brushing to fix anything, i absolutely cannot take showers or baths, i itch like mad for the rest of the evening and cannot wear clothes afterwards for around 5-6 hours, so i avoid doing that as much as possible, if i wash my hair then i cannot sleep for the night because i wont be able to rest my head on the pillow with causing extreme itching

my mum changes my bedsheets and stuff and she also tells me if i need to change clothes because im starting to smell, though i usually change clothes every few days any way, i only wear a t-shirt and shorts around the house and i alternate between shirts when the others are being washed, same with boxers and shorts

i live in a flat on the 3rd floor of a place with my mum, there is a tiny balcony outside which i am not going out on because of my fear of heights, just being near the door to it is enough to make me scared because the side of the balcony is made of glass and you can see all the way down to the ground.

i dont really know what can be more rock bottom than this though so i dont really know what is meant to wake me up

The worst time in my life was when I spent 2 weeks straight in bed watching Chuck, only leaving to empty pissbottles and answer the door for pizza. I'd frequently order pizza and fall asleep, being woken up by a phonecall from a delivery person or the door knocking.

I have relapsed a lot since then though, and currently my sleep is all over the place, as is my hygiene. I do have a job though, so I'm forced to deal with society a bit, but currently its the case of wake up, get dressed, go to work, come home, then post online and play some games until I sleep. I'm not improving myself at all.

I'm off for the next 13 days though, and plan to get my sleep and hygiene sorted in this time as well as getting back to some programming tutorials, writing a good CV and getting my reading back on track.

Your sleep pattern sounds pretty good, that's a fantastic starting point because that's what I find the most difficult even to this day. Once the sleep pattern goes out, so does everything else. It's the foundation of daily life, and everything else is built up on top of it.

My teeth are pretty fucked too, I don't have any enamel so they're really rough and they hurt unless I use sensodyne toothpaste which numbs them and a soft toothbrush. Even if you can't fix them, you can at least maintain them, and brushing your teeth a great addition to add to the wake-up and go-to-bed routine. Good habits and routines are important to form, and the only way to develop them in any meaningful way is to add tasks on to the habits you already carry out. So "wake up -> toilet -> breakfast -> waste day on computer" becomes "wake up -> toilet -> breakfast -> brush teeth -> waste day on computer", and once it sticks you'll be doing it without thinking about it.

Do you have a skin condition? If you haven't already been to the doctors about it I recommend going, get your mum to take you and do the talking if you can't, that's what I do. Being clean is the most important part to feeling comfortable with the idea of going outside besides being awake, and it has a domino effect with boosting your self-esteem and reducing your overall anxiety levels, so you definitely need to focus on this area before you do anything else. I doubt it's this simple, but it could just be the brand of soap/shampoo you use, having the temperature too high, or staying in the water too long. If all else fails, try having a strip wash at the sink.

I would also recommend doing your own bedsheets and being responsible for clothing. I know your first thought is "I'm fine with her doing it though, I don't know how to do it myself and I'd be too embarrassed to ask her to show me", but every little bit of self-sufficiency you can get at this stage is important. It all adds up to your overall self-esteem and self-confidence, and it won't go higher until you start taking over your life. Try your best to say to her "mum, is it alright if you showed me how to change my bedsheets?". You might be thinking this will make you seem pathetic, but it's exactly the opposite. She will undoubtedly recognise and be impressed that you're taking steps towards being a little more responsible, possibly even proud. Changing your bedsheets only requires doing once a week or so, that it's a great thing to start with.

Clothes will be easier to sort out once you get to regularly washing yourself, but I recommend changing out of the clothes you sleep in if you don't already. Wearing proper clothes can have a subtle effect on your overall behaviour. For example, I'm generally less slovenly, lethargic and apathetic if I'm dressed, and I become more upright and less prone to spending the entire day masturbating. Helps with the sleep routine too, but you said that's not really an issue for you.

Living in a flat isn't great, I know it can feel very isolated and trapped up there as my sister lives in one. I don't recommend going to the balcony, instead I would suggest starting with just standing outside the front door. If you're like me you might have trouble doing it while your mum is around, so I'd suggest starting while she's at work, gone out, or whatever. But don't worry about doing this until you've done the above stuff, that's more important right now.

Actually, going to expand on how I improved myself after the Chuck breakdown, as it's got the same steps you had. Now I'm going to start this by saying that my lowpoint was nowhere near as bad as yours, I'm not scared of people, I just really fucking hate them. I have absolutely zero social anxiety with complete strangers. (Although when I get closer to people, even colleagues in work who I say 2 or 3 words to 3 days a week, I become a complete sperg. I need to keep myself separated)

I started with the waking up early. Which also needed an early bed-time. I went for sleeping 1-7, with a midnight turn off computer/get ready for bed schedule.

The next step was taking up reading and walking. It was around this time of year actually, and the crisp winter mornings really helped. I'd walk into town and sit down in a costa with a hot chocolate reading. The fact that I was sitting there looking like a fucking hipster really helped me, I thought it made me look like I was a regular person, and really improved my confidence.

The next step was my diet, I'd previously been ordering pizza like 2 or 3 times a week and surviving off leftovers or microwave meals the other days. I came up with an eating schedule, which involved a bowl of cereal and milk before leaving for my walk, an apple around midday along with a packet of crisps (low fat ones, walkers baked) and an evening meal.

For meals I had a few selections. I wanted to make as much as I could myself, but I think that's pretty impossible, so I went with:

Enchiladas - Fry some chicken with the sauce and cheese, then put it in some wraps, put more sauce and cheese on top then put it in the oven. To save time, and make less cooking needed for me I used the pre-cooked chicken chunks you can get in tesco (although this made it more costly) so I didnt need to fry the chicken to cook, just to heat it a bit before starting the process.

Mac and Cheese - The hard part here is the cheese sauce, I fucked up making it a lot because you need to use flour and butter then slowly add milk and it really fucked the consistency. If you cant be bothered to do this, you can get packets of cheese sauce that you literally add milk to once you've heated it up.

For Pasta, you just put it in a saucepan with boiling water for 7-10 minutes, depending on how crunchy you want it.

Bacon sandwiches - literally just frying bacon until its suitable, quite hard to mess up as you can eat it fine from when it doesnt look raw all up until its crazy crispy and its still pretty good.

Other than that, I'd have some Tesco Pizzas (the kind that they make on the counters, so theyre not greasy and are probably the healthiest good tasting pizzas you can get) and I'd do variants of these meals, like cooking the mac and cheese and adding cut up bacon or chunks of chicken to it. Or fajitas, which are lazy enchiladas. You take the spice you put in the sauce, and put that over the chicken while its frying, then wrap it up.

While this isnt particularly overly healthy, it worked well and was a whole lot better than the alternative.

My diet has gone to shit mostly though, and the time I cook is currently like once a week. I really need to get back on everything.

I feel the diet is fine to do in small steps. As you get out more you'll start losing weight anyway, and I think you'll need to start eating better to compensate for the more energy you're using. a thing i havent commented on here but i feel i should mention is that i had a dream recently which was just me telling myself that i should try to focus on things which make me happy rather than chasing a relationship because in the past people have always hurt me, even just in online relationships, they have cheated on me or just gotten bored of me etc, but if i focus on just doing the things i enjoy doing like playing games or eating delicious food, i can be happier.
