My mother just won $36,000.00 from a court settlement case she had. She was supposed to get a lot more from the insurance but unfortunately the guy who crashed into her died, and the insurance company decided to tender the full limits.
My mother being a woman, doesn't know what to invest her money in.

specifically American Silver Eagles (assuming you live in the US). currently $13.8, hit a high of $48 in 2011, during the 2008 crisis we averaged around $12. it's time to buy silver.
the market AS A WHOLE is currently stupidly inflated. anyone going long generic stocks right now have no clue what they're getting into. if you really want to buy stocks, just hold that cash and wait, they'll be getting a lot cheaper sometime this year.

there's a difference between buying and 'going long'. when most people buy stock they only intend to sell 20-30 years down the line to retire or whatever balogna, but this is the top of the bubble and buying now will lose you 6-8 years of your time. better to sit in cash and wait.
so, i shill silver because it's just a stupid easy way to do exactly that, you'll benefit off price increase and the price CURRENTLY (~$15) is a fair value, compared to where the stock market is at. Much less risky and easier to handle.
the spx is 1864, if you're trading you might make a profit at 1880, i highly doubt it's going over 1900 anytime soon. but going long 5-30 years this market is insane, there's no way the uptrend in the US markets for the past 30 years is going to return, and if it does it will be through massive devaluation of the $.
ffs pay attention to what you do with your money, and what money, or to be more accurate CREDIT, really is. there is so much bullshit information out there it's incredible. don't watch too much mainstream media.

I hope you bought some, Hecla just submitted their permits for a Ag-Cu project to the northeast of the Lucky Friday. It'll be a couple years probably before they break ground but if it moves forward should be a good project.

Another mining project you might keep an eye on: Nevsun Resrouces. NSU
I have about $1000 in them though it hasn't done well since I bought at a bit over $4 right before the commodities crash in mid summer. Geologically it's a good resource with room for future expansion. It's primarily copper and zinc deposit with still decent gold, silver and lead. It's high grade and extraction costs are pretty low.
Downsides are it's in Eritrea so some risk there, also the deposit is tilted so you have to move a lot of extra dirt compared to a flat lying deposit. Also since Cu/Zn/Pb demand is related to industrial activity, China and the global economy in general are something to consider as well
