Cambodia's building this "Dreamville" tech city. My question: who the hell is gonna work there? Not the rural kids who've never seen a computer. I'm thinking of building a small school/shelter to train them.
About me: Tech guy (20yrs) with a weird side-gig in animal husbandry (8yrs, planning sustainable food). My English is trash, I'm a portuguese speaker.
The plan: Not to be a savior.
Train local teachers to teach IT in their own language (Khmer).
Van picks up kids with parents so they don't end up in an orphanage.
Safe rooms for actual orphans.
Hire local English & cooking teachers.
So, give it to me straight. Am I being a naive idiot?
What are the cultural/bureaucratic landmines I'm not seeing?
Is training locals a good approach or just dumb?
Is the Dreamville link a retarded motivation?
For anyone who's been to SEA/Cambodia, what's your "don't-do-what-I-did" advice?
