Titanfall 2 is also built off Source but most of the internals were swapped out for custom shit so it's a Source game in the same way that Half-Life is a Quake engine title.

It's association. People associate source with Garrys mod tier fuckery and 2007 era graphics. They also think that every source engine game is nothing more than a Half Life 2 mod. In the same way, people associate Unity with Steam Greenlight bottom of the barrel shovelware and other indie garbage by untalented hacks. And i suppose in 95% of cases these assumptions prove right. However, that doesn't stop them from playing CS:GO or Hearthstone by the millions. So at the end of the day, you should use what makes sense for the project.

Because Source 1 (and GoldSrc by association) are /were using archaic design structures, even for its 2007 revision. If somebody uses Source, they're about as fucked as using other 2000s software like

The only engines that are popular with modding are the ones that figuratively rape you in the process.
idTech 1-3, GoldSrc and Source have more mods and custom levels than any other game ever had (and probably ever will).
You can bash the BSP limitations all you want but at least it's possible for an amature to make a level using basic geometry. Games nowadays use models for almost everything (gee, I wonder where all these 50+ GiB came from, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare). Shit like Unreal Tournament 3 had like 100 maps. UE4 doesn't even properly support modding without some pajeet plug-in, if I recall correctly. Don't know about Unity or latest CryEngine.

I must be confused because I remember doing multi level geometries with the goldsrc engine, the predecessor to the source engine. In Garry's mod, you can actually stack multiple buildings on top of each other. If that's not multi level geometry, I don't know what is.
