There have been board resets with the file server, but only 8kun's /abdl/ has had images glassed since...
In the past week all ABDL-related imagery has been glassed except for one photo of an adult woman with a clean diaper. And some 8-bit and ABDL game photos that are similarly benign.
The other images that have survived are fully clothed. There was even a beautiful Undertale photo that has been glassed - for which, there was nothing naughty, other than someone already-clothed being hypnotized and coated in latex. [Blurry/tiny pic attached - would love to know the source].
I'd say it's over here. 8kun won't ban /abdl/ - but it appears some global admin is deleting all ABDL-related imagery.
I don't really mind so much - 8kun has faced scrutiny from Congress no less. But doing it broadly without comment or explanation... nah, no justification for that. I think the admins are just accepting partial defeat in their mission of "total" free speech - and don't want to talk about it.
8chan.moe is an alternative, while it stays stable. I would encourage the company to create an imageboard that is ABDL-only though. 8chan.moe possibly will only last until someone confuses it with 8kun/8chan here, and faces scrutiny as a result.

The situation with CDNs is unstable. Some pics stay while others don't but in this case it's not the admins doing, when they delete something it shows up on the board log. Either they're capable to bypass the logs (never happened before) or this is something with the CDN itself.
Maybe due the nature of 8kun, CDNs are acting extra cautious to the point of being retard and preemptively deleting stuff.
Looking at other boards, pics before early September are still 404 like here.
I already suggested 8moe countless times and I'm not the BO there. I'm going to keep this board running as long as feasible, because any chan can suddenly vanish and take and the all information and media with it like what happened to 8san.
So I don't think it's wise to go full 8moe. Rather, use this board as backup/bunker.
A better solution would be to have an instance of federated chan just for ABDL but that has its own problems too like bandwidth, speed and others that I won't go through to not make this post longer.
Lastly, I sent an email to two 8kun admin addresses last month asking for what's going on with the CDNs but never got a reply.

What exactly are the costs of having our own site? Does anyone here know how to host one? I'd love to just be a separate entity and not have to worry about the goings-on of the rest of the website.

You need a web host that won't freak out at pictures of ABDL porn for one. Ideally one troll sending an abuse/complaint/moaning email won't get your site taken offline.
Then you need a domain and a server that can run an imageboard. Budget wise, it's not that expensive... $50 a month could do it.
But realistically, at some point you'll be doxed and then be known as the "diaper board image person" unless you are willing to shell out for extra costs, such as Bitcoin hosting, domain buying, and a separate laptop with a VPN to connect to it all.
Realistically, $100 a month would be safe to cover all costs of anonymizing and keeping it at a premium VPS host that will look the other way for porn, take Bitcoin, and the domain costs.
Time is the big factor, and still accepting that even with safeguards, you could still be outed.

I mean, I would happily foot the bill, risk or not, but don't have the knowledge or time to be involved in the hosting or moderation. If someone were willing to do the work, I'd fund it.

possible, but it'd likely be slow. and would require someone to host it locally. Also, there would be a filter to getting in (installing tor) and that would slow down posts way further. I'm fine with it in theory, but I don't know how well it'd go in practice. Also just the thought of the moderation problems with that, we'd have to prevent illegal shit from flooding the board too.

Probably best to just pay for hosting, since keeping it off tor leaves it easily accessible. Creating more obstacles for people switching over would only fracture the community more..

My biggest concern is how do we communicate/co-ordinate this without outing ourselves?
Secondly yes the hosting needs to be adult-compliant, I don't know what kind of traffic /abdl gets but could be doable on a VPS + block storage.
Biggest issue is copyright probably since most of the pictures here are reposted, Yes we can host in countries where it is harder to get things taken down such as Amsterdam, Russia or bulgaria.
I will follow this thread since i'm very excited to get a working board again, If i can help make it happen then i will.

I figure we could drop emails from something like protonmail, then verify through there to set up something more manageable like a kik group, irc channel, or discord, probably with dummy accounts. No other account or personal info needs to get shared beyond the communication program. At that point, whatever parties involved in hosting would be the only ones with the pertinent info, and as long as they don't leak it (and why would they when they would suffer as well), we'd be golden.
Unless I'm retarded, which is a strong possibility.
Side note: maybe we all have some item we can send a picture of with a timestamp to verify?

ABDL is not as big as we would like it to be. I don't think someone would have trouble moderating a board, outside from bots that plague any site with HTML forms and non or weak captcha.

ABDL is starting to take-off, or at least there are more models/cam-whores/whatever getting into it nowadays. When I first got into it in my early teens there was barely anything online about it. OP here. Seems what I outlined has passed predictably.
Yes, the CDN stinks all-around. But *only* /abdl loses all of its images every 24 hours. Someone is doing that.
The only tidbit I've heard is that Watkins may be intentionally filtering /abdl images because he decided to run for Congress, and any observer can tell how that's going.
While I don't mind Watkins running for Congress, he could at least be honest that he doesn't want ABDL images associated with him while doing it.
8chan.moe seems to be the bunker, as the short-lived ABDLchan ran the course I outlined. Doxed and dead.
If you can do this stuff in the shadows, your time is probably best spent making bank elsewhere.
