Teoria krytyczna 1: Przedmowa do mordu Zachodniej Cywilizacji

Krąży niemało opowieści o krwiożerczych Żydach z Frankfurtu, których przewrotna, żydowska natura popchnęła do zamachu na Zachodnią Cywilizację i których długie, drapieżne macki po dziś dzień sterują lewicowym radykalizmem. Ukrywać nie zamierzam, iż moja znajomość Szkoły Frankfurckiej nie jest tak szeroka i dogłębna, abym mógł stworzyć jakieś syntetyczne ujęcie twierdzeń jej przedstawicieli, tym bardziej, iż nierzadko ich zdania były robieżne. Mimo to coś tam dane mi było przeczytać, stąd opowieści te chętnie bym zignorował, gdyby nie ich niesłabnąca popularność wewnątrz prawicowych kręgów. Uznałem przez to, że można połączyć przyjemne z pożytecznym, skoro już zacząłem prowadzić tego blogaska, co przywiodło mnie do postanowienia, aby zarówno odświeżyć, jak i poszerzyć znajomość frankfurtyzmów. Odświeżyć, bowiem już kiedyś sięgnąłem m.in. po Dialectics of Enlightenment, poszerzyć, jako że muszę przyznać, iż wielu wątków wtedy zwyczajnie nie zrozumiałem. Nie ma chyba wstydu w tym, aby przyznać, że lektura ta lekką nie jest. Wśród krążących po sieci petersonizmów i boghossianizmów, których charakterystyka Szkoły Frankfurckiej jest nawet nie tyle nietrafiona, co miejscami wprost sprzeczna z frankfurckim duchem, prawdziwe oblicze teorii krytycznej skryło się za woalem przekłamań; ci, których oskarża się o obskurantyzm, sami padli jego ofiarą. Oto przykładowy opis frankfurtyzmów autorstwa pewnego wykopowego demaskatora, który według własnej deklaracji spędził długie miesiące nad śledztwem w ramach swojej pracy dyplomowej (link):
Według frankfurtyczków każdy system społecznej organizacji jest z definicji totalitarny, a co za tym idzie totalitarna jest również konstytuująca go kultura. Przejawy jej utrwalonej dominacji reprezentowane są w pięciu aspektach stanowiących narzędzia opresji:
a) Normach, które są jedynie subiektywnie narzuconymi granicami zniewalającymi naturę człowieka
b) Języku, który system tworzy na potrzeby manipulacji i nadawania fałszywych znaczeń
c) Religii, która jest źródłem moralnych okowów zniewalających naturę człowieka
d) Nauki, która stanowi czysto subiektywna formę bezzasadnych sądów
e) Rozumu, który stał się instrumentalnym narzędziem totalitarnej logiki formalnej
Wymienione narzędzia są przystosowane przez konformistyczny kolektyw, który wywiera nieuzasadnioną opresję na zniewolone jednostki oraz grupy mniejszościowe. Skutkiem tej opresji jest kontrreakcja ze strony nieprzystosowanych, będąca fatalistyczną koniecznością i jedyną możliwą formą walki z kulturowym panowaniem.
Opis ten, mimo mojej relatywnie słabej znajomości teorii krytycznej, zdaje mi się nieprawdopodobnym wręcz wypaczeniem oryginalnej myśli Horkheimera i Adorno. Wytłuściłem tezy szczególnie moim zdaniem kuriozalne (a powinienem chyba całość). Obrazów w podobnych barwach krąży niestety znacznie więcej i wielu koneserów przystaje przy nich w niewyjaśnialnej dla mnie admiracji. Mniemam jednak, że kto rzeczywiście obcował ze sztuką, nie zadowoli się raczej bazgrołami.
Czy istnieje jeszcze sposobność przywrócenia niewykrzywionego obrazu teorii krytycznej? Nie wiem, przede wszystkim dlatego, iż sam całego obrazu nie znam. Chcę jednak w trakcie swojej lektury, która trwać będzie czas nieokreślony, wrzucać tu fragmenty, które moim zdaniem będą dość jasno pokazywać, że frankfurtczycy nie tylko nie popełnili zbrodni, o jakie się ich oskarża, ale głosili opinie, pod którymi wielu współczesnych tropicieli marksizmu podpisałoby się ochoczo, o ile rzecz jasna nie znaliby ich autorów. Cykl zacznę od Critical Theory: Selected Essays. Powody są dwa. Pierwszy jest taki, że stylistycznie jest to książka lżejsza od DoE, toteż lepsza na rozgrzewkę. Po drugie, to na nią powoływał się ostatni łowca marksistów, z jakim dane mi było rozmawiać. Cytaty oczywiście starać się będę opatrzyć jakimś komentarzem ze swojej strony, bo samo wklejanie czyichś zdań to pójście na łatwiznę, niemniej nie mam zamiaru tworzyć tu jakiejś syntezy czy streszczenia, bo takowe już powstały, i to z rąk ludzi daleko lepiej obeznanych. Mam raczej nadzieję, że cytaty te skłonią kogoś do własnej lektury.

Zdaniem przynajmniej niektórych łowców czarownic neomarksizm Szkoły Frankfurckiej odpowiada za radykalizm współczesnych ruchów lewicowych. Złe i mroczne siły wypełzły z Frankfurtu, by następnie przepłynąć do USA celem zniewolenia serc młodzieży, aby nakłonić je do emancypacyjnej walki z systemem, który przecież, jak wszystkim trzeźwo myślącym wiadomo, jest spełnionym przeznaczeniem ludzkości. Bunt ten oczywiście jest celem samym w sobie, działaniem czysto destrukcyjnym. Rzekome okowy zerwane muszę zostać za wszelką cenę i przy pomocy wszelkich dostępnych środków. Sprzeciw i krytyka mają być totalne, wymierzone w okaleczone i skalane ciało Zachodniej Cywilizacji, poszarpane przez wściekłe psy lewicowych bojówek na smyczach cynicznych frankfurtczyków. Kultura Zachodu spocząć musi w zgliszczach, na których świętować będą degeneraci i zboczeńcy (no i Żydzi, wiadomo), radując się swoim nowym porządkiem, który tak naprawdę nie jest porządkiem, bowiem wszelkie normy zdeptano i pogrzebano pod popiołami. Tam też spocznie jednostka, którą zastąpią zbiorowości, które następnie same zleją się w jedno, jako że neomarksizm to nadal marksizm, a jak wszystkim trzeźwo myślącym wiadomo, marksizm nienawidzi indywidualizmu.
Przyjrzyjmy się zatem, cóż napisali ci wrogowie cywilizacji. Już w przedmowie do Critical Theory: Selected Essays (dalej CTSE) ten demon w ludzkiej skórze, zaprzysięgły wróg demokracji – Horkheimer, nawołuje do radykalizmów (CTSE, s. viii):
Not a few of the impulses which motivate me are related to those of present-day youth desire for a better life and the right kind of society, unwillingness to adapt to the present order of things. I also share their doubts about the educational value of our schools, colleges, and universities The difference between us has to do with the violence practiced by the young, which plays into the hands of their otherwise impotent opponents An open declaration that even a dubious democracy, for all its defects, is always better than the dictatorship which would inevitably result from a revolution today, seems to me necessary for the sake of truth. Despite her adherence to the Russian Revolution, Rosa Luxemburg, whom so many students venerate, said fifty years ago that "the remedy which Trotsky and Lenin have found, the elimination of democracy as such, is worse than the disease it is supposed to cure." To protect, preserve, and, where possible, extend the limited and ephemeral freedom of the individual in the face of the growing threat to it is far more urgent a task than to issue abstract denunciations of it or to endanger it by actions that have no hope of success.
Wywrotowość, jak wszyscy trzeźwo myślący zauważą, aż wylewa się z tego fragmentu. Niemniej to jeszcze jest nic przy obrzydliwościach, jakie Horkheimer wypisuje o naszej Pani, Cywilizacji Zachodniej (CTSE, s. ix):
The material situation of the dependent classes gives rise to political and psychological tendencies which are different from those of the earlier proletariat. Individuals, like classes, are now being integrated into society. In such circumstances, to judge the so-called free world by its own concept of itself, to take a critical attitude towards it and yet to stand by its ideas, and to defend it against fascism, Stalinist, Hitlerian, or any other, is the right and duty of every thinking man. Despite its dangerous potential, despite all the injustice that marks its course both at home and abroad, the free world is at the moment still an island in space and time, and its destruction in the ocean of rule by violence would also mean the destruction of the culture of which the critical theory is a part.

Neomarksizm to, jak wszystkim trzeźwo myślącym wiadomo, koniec końców marksizm. Szkoła Frankfurcka, rzucając hasłami o opresji i kolonializmie, usiłowała upokorzyć Zachód i otworzyć jego bramy komunistycznym najeźdźcom, czego dowodzi fakt, że teoria rzekomo krytyczna, była krytyczna tylko wobec kapitalizmu i liberalnego porządku. Widać to między innymi po tym cytacie (CTSE, vi):
The doctrine of Marx and Engels, though still indispensable for understanding the dynamics of society, can no longer explain the domestic development and foreign relations of the nations. The impulses that motivate me today as they did in the past are no less opposed to the obviously inconsistent claim to apply aggressive concepts such as class domination and imperialism to capitalist countries alone and not to allegedly communist ones as well, than they are to the correlative prejudices of others. Socialism, the idea of democracy realized in its true meaning, has long since been perverted into an instrument of manipulation in the Diamat countries, just as the Christian message was perverted during the blood-bath centuries of Christendom.
Zrywając z sarkazmem – smutnym postrzegam, że już sama przedmowa autorstwa Horkheimera winna uwidocznić komuś, kto sięgnął po lekturę, iż popularne przedstawienia teorii krytycznej odbiegają od obrazu rzeczywistego. Wynika z tego, że tropiciele marksizmu po lekturę nie sięgnęli, co smuci podwójnie, biorąc po uwagę popularność osobistości pokroju Petersona czy Lindsaya. Inną jeszcze możliwością jest to, że lektura zwyczajnie ich przerosła. Co gorzej o nich świadczy, zdecydować nie potrafię. Wstyd powinien być uczuciem dobrze znanym współczesnym intelektualistom-celebrytom, jednak gdyby tak było, raczej nie robiliby tego, czym się zajmują (wstyd w ogóle jest w mojej opinii towarem deficytowym we współczesnym świece, nad czym boleję). Zarzucić mi można, iż moje sarkastyczne przedstawienie zarzutów kierowanych z Karoniowej strony dyskursu przesycone jest hiperbolą i zanadto egzaltowane. Z tym zgodzić się nie mogę, ale nawet jeśli w istocie przesadziłem, duch „krytyki” pozostał nietknięty.
P.S. Trzeba jednak przyznać, że cytowanie Mao to trochę nieszczęśliwy zabieg (CTSE, s. vii), nawet jeśli sama treść cytatu wcale kontrowersyjną nie jest.
P.P.S. Zdaję sobie sprawę, iż pojęcia teorii krytycznej i Szkoły Frankfurckiej nie są tożsame, niemniej na potrzeby tych wpisów przyjmuję ich identyczność.
