I was going to buy a game on GOG but was reminded that CDPR owns it, and also reminded that CDPR banned Devotion from the store hours before its release. This was the Taiwanese game that made a crack at the Chinese president and was subsequently removed from Steam. https://twitter.com/redcandlegames/status/1339489008641056769
I've seen people complaining on the GOG forums about CDPR blatantly choosing money over morals etc. So now it's worth reminding people that it is illegal for a corporation to deliberately lose their shareholders money (i.e. getting the site banned in China). See cases like Walt Disney 906 A.2d 27 (Del. 2006) and Amgen Inc. v. Harris, 577 (U.S. 2016).
I'm just putting this out to clear the air of moralizing; it's not about companies making choices between finances and morals. People seem to forget that under the current legal code, it is forbidden to place anything above finances, and you will go to prison if you intentionally offend China in such a way that your publicly traded company loses business with them. It's not a choice when moral integrity is illegal. And no, it's not worth going to prison over this, if you have a family and people who are dependent on you. Fault them for making sucky games; white-knighting is played out.

True. CD Projekt was founded to publish foreign games in Poland though, with basically no money, and the country had been Communist until a few years prior so there wasn't a lot of free capital or disposable income to draw from in the 90s. You don't have many options besides taking on investors if you're trying to buy distribution rights for a country that didn't have a video game market in the first place. I don't care for CDPR but I respect the hustle of the original CD Projekt.
CDPR themselves made the Witcher in 2007, still the "good days" of video games before Triple A started to become universally hated. The prospect of making games played internationally on more than the shoe-string budget of the Witcher probably seemed like a great thing at the time, when Triple A didn't have half as much shit dragging it down as it does today.
Sad to see them go down with the ship like that, but sometimes you see the good ones ditch the studio to go independent anyway like the guys from Arkane.

Never separate art from artist in the modern day. That shit only works with people who lived 50+ years ago when times were different.
I wanted to buy Dusk. Then the devs kissed Doom Eternal's ass so I pirated Dusk. If they want to support a bastardization of classic games made by open racists then I don't give them a dime.
The game turned out to be boring, too, just a linear march through generic enemies with no variety. We've reached a point where game devs want linear paths because they believe their audience will become confused if they have to pick a direction.
I won't touch Ion Fury for fucking free, either. Toby Fox fucked up with his underhanded stunts promoting Undertale and Helltaker is a 10-minute game with a shitty ending coupled with very boring waifu designs. They're the gaming equivalent of Metallica- complete trash that I wouldn't "enjoy" regardless but morons eat it up because they don't know better.

I disagree, people's online politics are basically performative, and nobody is going to have the 'right' take on everything. Meaning is independent of intent, it's a basic mechanic of language, and there have been numerous literary critique movements throughout history that advocate a pure analysis of a work's content without its context or the author's intent.
Also you talk about art and artists but then your examples are just like, boomer shooters. It's fine to like those but they don't really carry any overt message, so you're just taking people's online posts and inserting them into the product as if those posts are a part of the product, to give it a place in the performative online culture war. Talk about art–I think any serious art critic in the past would be mortified by this form of critique and treatment of art as a social problem or playing piece.

And they're all part of the same SJW clique, using coomershit to reel in people who are "supposedly" on our side Mark to make them more money.

It IS morally wrong, therefore, it is wrong. They should risk jail time defending their customers against this law. If they don't, they are the enemies of their customers and must be destroyed. Hopefully, with a bunch of their owners killed.
Morals > money. ALWAYS. No matter what any law says.

no, they aren't. Anyone supporting leftard ideology IS a leftard, and must be boycotted for being a leftard.
Art is not separated from the artist. A leftard producing and/or selling a product must never be allowed any form of success.

You're literally the same type of person as those witchhunting faggots at resetera or twitter, the only difference being you happened to fall for a different ideology. In the end you may debate endlessly about which pile of shit is better, but nothing changes the fact that the world would be a much better place to live if every retard like you commited suicide asap.

Yeah like they actually all emailed GOG after being offended on Chinaman's behalf over a joke from a game they probably don't even play. I'm sick to death of companies using their customer base as a mouthpiece for their own personal opinions. On the bright side, your pic inspired me to make some OC. Hope you get some use out of it.

Go back to your hugbox, soyfreak. There is nothing wrong in fighting fire with fire. SJWs always started witchhunts. Now they will be the ones hunted simply for existing.
Nobody here will commit suicide. Instead, we will ruin the lives of all SJWs, and relentlessly ruin all businesses that pander to them, no matter how long it take.
And there is nothing that you can do about it.
