Last year, some shooting happened and they took the site offline for a few months. Jim and Co decided to play ball when they were called before the US Senate and instead of blasting the democrats and their attack dogs in the media being used to censor opinions and take down sites they don't control, they just answered the questions. Unfortunately, they didn't allow /pol/ to return.
Then, as we all know, gamergate has been useless for years, just spending their time shitting up the board with cartoon child porn rather than contacting advertisers. When Jim and Co decided to get rid of the pedos, it turns out that they had let the infestation fester for far too long and there were too many of them. So, they left, taking the majority of people with them.
The site is better now
