Nothing went right. The lead developer is one of those games-as-art self-absorbed fart sniffer leftists with no concept of good game design or consistency in storytelling. His main character is a literal self-insert, and the entire story exists solely to (poorly) emulate the concept of character growth by simply excusing bad behavior before completely throwing it all down the tubes with a stupid plot device that just invalidates the entire story. The gameplay is piss-easy, with the only difficult portion of the game being environmental traps that can just be ignored with the use of healing items. The set and setting framing the entire game is awash in dated references to a time long passed, given that it's happening at the turn of the century (before the housing market crash), but it constantly tells that story through people with the late 2010's mindset (debt, student loans, post-market crash rhetoric) to create this discordant world that doesn't feel genuine.
Inconsistencies everywhere. Narcissistic paper cutout character design. An overt focus on diversity. Blatant fucking plagarism.
And if none of that tickles your fancy, when the guy was called on his shit, he released pic related as his response.
