The 6400 version of your CPU is the only upgrade you can do with that socket. If memory serves DF is CPU reliant so that'll only give you an additional 200Hz for it. You REALLY want to look into a new board and CPU if DF is a priority. As far as graphics cards the sky is the limit as long as the power supply can take it. PSUs are cheap so just get a 800+W power supply from any brand that isn't generic trash.

So by upgrade you're just wantint to swap some parts and not do an overhaul?

I went from 8 ram to 16 ram and it helped a lot, especially since I alt-tab to check wikis and shit while I play games. It's also cheap.

also get a geforce card in the 1000 series or higher, my 1050ti is doing the trick with all new games and it wasn't expensive (it's an older model now)

Buying parts to upgrade your system would be almost as costly as replacing the system. If you're really on a budget, pick up a B450 motherboard, a Ryzen 3600 CPU, 16gb of DDR4 3200 RAM, and an RX 570 video card. That will play any modern game for $400, provided you already have a case, power supply, and storage. Move up to an RX 590 if you can, because with good shopping, you can find one for just a few bucks more. Strip your old parts out of your case current, store them nicely, and sell them all on ebay real cheap as used parts to recoup some of your cost. If you've taken good care of your case, don't feel like buying a modern one, and you like it, you might as well re-use it.

If you insist on plugging some new parts into your board, we need to know what you've got. The best you could hope for is a motherboard that you could drop an FX-8350 into. I used one from the month it released up 'til two months ago. They're still capable of playing basically every game at about 60fps. Kept mine overclocked at 4.5ghz at a lower voltage than stock boost.

yeah, i thought so too. The only parts i'd keep are my case and my PSU, and the newest parts (in terms of insertion into the system) are my CPU and my RAM, which i guess i could sell for a decent price.

i thought about buying from AliExpress, but it's a chinksite, so i am not too sure about it. has anyone got any info about a decent Website for PC parts? i live in Germanistan, so everything Europoorean is acceptable.

newegg or even just search up your local tech stores, germany has plenty of those, and DoA parts are best dealt with by a physical store.

If you wanna play cpu-intensive grand strategy games you want a decent cpu, get a 3800x/3900x at the minimum, and a nvidia gpu, a 1660ti perhaps (assuming you're playing on a 1080p 60hz monitor). You want new ram to go with your new AMD cpu though, they're sensitive with ram. 16gigs at the minimum, 2 sticks of 16gigs for 32gigs at least at 3200mhz is best tho, 3400-3600 is the sweet spot for stock performance with AMD cpus though.

The meme with DF is that there is no support for multi-threading at all, and until they start making cores with 5 GigaHz most setups will melt when you get above a certain number of actors
