The Xbox has a superior design, potentially. At face value, it's boring and ugly - but it doesn't clash with livingroom aesthetics, and leaves a lot of room open for skinning options and special editions. They can emboss them for some pretty wild designs. The PS5… well, it's unique and lot more imaginative, which is good - but it's also ugly and won't blend in with most livingrooms. Skinning options for it are minimal since the only wide areas to display any kind of pattern are on the profiles unless set horizontally, which it doesn't seem to be designed to do with it's convex shape and asymmetrical top and bottom.
Also, the games they showed largely don't look like anything that couldn't be handled on existing hardware with a few graphics options turned down. Only a few even made me stop to take notice, and of those only Demon's Souls (Remaster), Kena (because it looked like a Dreamworks ripoff), and the new Oddworld - which might be good, but for some reason all I could think of while watching it was how much I'd like a new Lemmings game.
After Sony's big talk about how they're not going to let current gen games hold back next generation games by trying to be cross-generation, there wasn't that graphical mic-drop moment people would expect like they were teased with the UE5 engine tech demo… and that demo will run on Xbox and PC as well, so it was hardly a coup for Sony. Niggers should have known that nobody can really afford to make gen-exclusive AAA games in the first two years anyhow when the adoption numbers/market is so small. Only indie games have that kind of maneuverability and budgets, and they have it precisely because they're not making graphically impressive games that can only be run on next-gen hardware. The game even close to what they needed was Horizon II, and that failed to impress me partly because it's presentation was overproduced hype trash with really no gameplay, and partly because I played HZD on the PS4 and it was trash. So this is just Trash II: A slightly more polished turd edition.
Really, I would have loved to see what they were going to do with PSVR 2, and specifically how the PS5 would improve current PSVR games. Oh, and speaking of which - that shitty taco-wrapper on the new PSVR camera is going to make it near impossible to set on top of a TV or adjust it's position. As if it wasn't maddeningly difficult to triangulate the exact positioning and angle that camera has to be in in order to make that annoying fucking "You are outside of the Play Area" message go away. Would have been nice if they'd have addressed that or shown a cradle attachment or fucking anything.
