Anyone else waiting for Dragon's Dogma 2? Heard there was a leak, but i don't know if its fake or not.

This game deserves a sequel.

As soon as I get some reasonable confirmation the game is in development, I'm going to stop paying attention until the game is less than multiple years away from finishing.

I can't keep my hype for anything going that long.

I'd love for the game to get a proper sequel, but the chances of any game actually being good these days is so low that I'm not keeping and expectations. Best to just not think about it and be pleasantly surprised if one comes out and isn't shit.

If there's one thing I'd change, I'd limit healing somehow. Being able to pause the game and eat 2 million pieces of grass to heal (which had the lowest cost per hp, so no real incentive to even buy strong potions besides lower weight per hp until late game) took a lot of the challenge away to be honest. Like some kind of penalty to maximum health with each potion, or a cooldown between each one, or making you drink it in realtime. Would add more value to bigger, more expensive potions besides just weighing less per hp healed. RPGs like this tend to chase accessibility, so I doubt they will do anything like that. I mean, you could just place limitations on yourself, but it's more fun to tackle a carefully constructed challenge with everything you got instead of handicapping yourself.

Still would play just because I like pawns/waifus and the way quests actually give you clues and shit instead of just slapping a waypoint somewhere. It's fun and immersive.

>More open world, DD is actually fairly linear for an open world

>More freedom in quests, take a page from TES

>Roaming/rotating spawns, no more wolves in the same place at all times

>More vocations of course, I feel V from DMC5 will be a vocation and one with spears

>More enemy types of course

>Able to have multiple skill sets, DDO had this and the penalty was being vulnerable while switching

>Maybe co-op where friends can play as your pawn, could give your pawn more knowledge about quests and beasts

The good thing about DD2 is that much of the work has been done with the first game. They just need to add onto it.

It's definitely in development now that DMC5 is done with. Probably gonna be released within the next two years.

I'm not sure I buy the leaks, especially the part about the PC's face being covered by a mask (makes character customisation a really important part of DD almost entirely pointless). The most important thing to remember is that DD:DA was basically an alpha version of what the devs actually intended. I don't know of any other released game which shares that fate to such an extreme. Sure, games get released with unimplemented features and content all the time that's just a part of deadlines and sales, it's inevitable but DD:DA is so clearly barren it's insane. Despite that, it's a fucking great game; lots of fun and plenty of charm. As long as the dev team for DD2 has enough time, it'll be a success. I remember reading that the lead dev almost left the company due to the rushed release of the first game, so it's unlikely it'll happen again considering it has been successful in the West even until the present, 7 years after release.

Ideally the game would be entirely able to be played Cooperatively. Dragons dogma plays almost like a more action-oriented MMO already, playing it with, like, three friends who might also have their own pawns would be a very fun experience, I think.

Dark Arisen is the "enhanced edition" and has some new QoL features as well as the expansion content of Bitter Black Isle. As far as I'm aware, there is no reason not to get the Dark Arisen version of Dragon's Dogma, I don't even think vanilla is available on PC, Xbone, Switch and PS4. The only thing missing is the Berserk armour sets.

It doesn't really play anything like Monster Hunter. I never got why people compare the two. The only thing they really have in common is they both have big enemies, but that's too general to even be worth saying. People should not go into DD expecting anything like MH.

>>16937823

The newer version does nerf some skills that I think were much better in the original, overall though there isn't much reason to play it. The newer version adds a lot of extra great content that you wouldn't want to miss if you liked the game.

It's a large open world packed with enemies that rewards exploration and very detailed NPCs, a postgame mode with bonus dungeon and a massive DLC thrown on. It also has massive amounts of customization not just for your character but for yourself personal companion and even further customization options for your clothing, weapons, attacks and skills. All this from a game made in 2012.

What the fuck more does a game need for you to consider it 10/10? What other games would fit in this category and actually reach that 10/10 mark? This game is head and shoulders above not just other games from the year it was released but many games made even now, 8 years later.

A unique and complex formula executed in a lackluster and unfulfilled way does not and should not constitute a 10/10 no matter how anyone arbitrarily rates games. It’s the formula for endless clamoring for a sequel or for lasting appeal even if other games do individual aspects better. That is why the game continues to be successful, but it shouldn’t be confused for good execution.

Even BBI has some unpolished bullshit like the Living Armors doing Fullmoon Slash at random and slapping you silly.

>The writing isn't the best,

The writing was on point, what could you possibly not like about it? Characters had lots of dialogue, it was all voiced (well I might add) and even completely minor NPCs had lots of character and depth to them. I went back to Cassardis at every stage of the game and the NPCs there always had new, interesting things to say. There's a bricklayer who talks about his intense desire to help you fight the dragon until finally offering his assistance right before the final fight but ultimately realizes he'd be useless. There's the old shop keeper who reveals to you the Duke's real age, etc. More examples of this in Gran Soren too. Some particularly interesting nobles. Tons of things you'd never learn about the game's world and its people if you didn't take the time to talk to people.

Be honest mong, you didn't like it because medieval dialogue is too hard for you to understand.
