When you're done, you get to eat a delicious home cooked meal, and feel the basic sense of accomplishment that you made something nice with your hands. As you gain experience, recipes become more suggestion than prescription, and you feel the satisfaction and pride in putting your own spin on a dish and making it fully your own. It's like a real life video game, basic psychological rewards wired deep into the brain with a tremendous amount of depth should you choose to explore it. I use this chicken parm recipe off google but it's pretty basic:
>Ingredients for chicken:
>2 large eggs
>1 tablespoon minced garlic
>2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
>Salt and pepper to season
>3 large chicken breasts halved horizontally to make 6 fillets
>1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
>1/2 cup breadcrumbs (Italian or golden)
>1/2 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
>1 teaspoon garlic or onion powder
>1/2 cup olive oil for frying
>Ingredients for sauce
>1 tablespoon olive oil
>1 large onion chopped
>2 teaspoons minced garlic
>14 ounces (400 g) tomato puree (Passata)
>Salt and pepper to taste
>1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
>1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
>Ingredients for topping
>8 ounces (250 g) mozzarella cheese sliced or shredded
>1/3 cup fresh shredded parmesan cheese
>2 tablespoons fresh chopped basil or parsley (I prefer parsley)
>Chicken
Preheat oven 430°F | 220°C. Lightly grease an oven tray (or baking dish) with non stick cooking oil spray; set aside.
Whisk together eggs, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper in a shallow dish. Add chicken into the egg, rotating to evenly coat each fillet in the mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to marinate for at least 15 minutes (or overnight night if time allows for a deeper flavour).
When chicken is ready for cooking, mix bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese and garlic powder together in a separate shallow bowl. Dip chicken into the breadcrumb mixture to evenly coat.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot and shimmering. Fry chicken until golden and crispy, (about 4-5 minutes each side).
Place chicken on prepared baking tray / dish and top each breast with about 1/3 cup of sauce (sauce recipe below). Top each chicken breast with 2-3 slices of mozzarella cheese and about 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese. Sprinkle with basil or parsley.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbling and melted, and the chicken is completely cooked through.
>Sauce
Heat oil in a medium-sized pot. Fry onion until transparent (about 3 minutes), then add the garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Add the tomato puree, salt and pepper to taste, Italian herbs and sugar (If using). Cover with lid to simmer for about 8 minutes, or until sauce has thickened slightly. Taste test and adjust salt and pepper, if needed.

Then I figured out that a single Hearty Durian (which grow on trees in bunches of three in the Faron woods and can be easily farmed) cooked on its own creates a meal that max fills your healthbar plus three hearts of overheal.
This single recipe and its ease of creation makes 95% of the recipes obsolete. Why is the strongest recipe in the game one of the easiest to make? What a letdown!
Other than that, BotW had a pretty fun hunting/cooking system with plenty of variety.

Wurm has the best cooking mechanic I've ever seen in a videogames. Not only you have to prepare all the ingredients appropriately before cooking (chopping, dicing, slicing, etc) but you also have to use the correct containers (pots, pans, pie tins and such) and combining the items manually (like combining bacon with mushrooms to make a filled mushroom) AND you can also use optional ingredients to season the dishes and improve their nutritional value

Fishing for ingredients while your crops grew was comfy as fuck. There was also this minigame in a gnome tree fort where you made the most complex foods in the game - mixed beverages - with various tools to prepare your ingredients in different ways (slicing, dicing, juicing, etc.). I remember playing that for hours, though I don't think you actually got anything worthwhile out of it. It was fun enough without a reward.

Isn't that true for most romances in fiction? Expressing your feelings to another person is the easiest thing imaginable, making the relationship work is the hard part. Funny how most fictional romances call it a happily ever after when the people involved manage to stop being children and finally admit their feelings.

That's not even remotely true. If anything, monogamy was an "evolutionary" adaptation for social stability. By and large humans are polygnyous. You can even see it in supposedly staunchly monogamous Western societies where rich men engage in concubinage, where they often have a wife and one or more mistresses.
That being said, what has IRL polygamy to do with fiction? I don't bring up divorce rates when discussing stereotypical fictional love stories because they have no bearing on fiction.

>Isn't that true for most romances in fiction?
And that's why I don't like romantic subplots or romantic fiction in general. Harems just dial that shit up to a 11 so it gets really grating fast. The only romantic story I remember liking was Ore Monogatari. That's mostly because they get past stage within like the 2nd or 3rd episode. Then it's just lovely dovely shenanigans.

Chicken spanish croquetes
Ingredients are:
>Flour
>Salt
>Butter, oil, margarine or the juices of the roasted chicken
>Leftovers of a roasted chicken
>Milk
>Grinded bread
>Two to Three eggs
Take the flour and put a few spoons or handfulls on a big pan.
Apply some butter, oil or margarine then mix. My personal preference is using the juices of the roasted chicken instead of any basic fat ingredient to make an extra chicken flavour bechamel.
Steer until the flour and the fat mix together in a dry paste.
Apply some milk, preferably a fatty milk but skimmed milk works. You can previously heat it and have it prepared in a recipient or you can add it from a brick slowly.
Steer the milk with the paste until it absorbs the milk entirely, then add more milk.
Repeat the process until the paste is disolved in the milk, then keep steering in weak fire until the liquids start to dry up.
While you make the bechamel you have to prepare the chicken meat.
Take the cooked bits and any other left overs you want to include and cut them in very fine pieces or use a meat grinder with low energy not to make a paste but grind everything into very small pieces.
Add the grinded roasted chicken in the bechamel and steer once again until everything is mixed.
Put the croquete mixture in a recipient and in the fridge for at least 4 hours, but I recomend a full day.
Take the recipient out, two to three eggs, depending of how much mixture you have, and the grinded bread.
Break the eggs and batter them.
Take small balls from the mixture and dip them into the battered eggs, then coat them in bread.
When you have your croquetes ready, prepare a frier and heat the oil, then fry the croquetes in weak fire.
Enjoy strongly flavoured croquetes and feel free to experiment.

Yeah, this. Every since I learned about toxoplasmosis, brainparasites, that can be in meat I'm scared to death of those fuckers. I wash my hands and handles around the kitchen several times when I make food. The infection is extremely common, 60 percent infection rate in the third world, 30 or below in the West, and there's no cure. Once you have them in your brain, it's going to be there until old age. And then when your immune system weakens, it's going to come out of its cysts and rampage around. It changes your personality too; makes you more willing to take risks, so that you're more likely to die and be able to spread it further. It usually lives in rats and cats and spread through feces, so be careful if you have a cat.

Eating raw being dangerous is mostly bullshit. Unless its some third-world shithole where they deal with sick animals its perfectly safe to consume raw meat. Why aren't most animal diseased when they only eat raw meat? And you are more likely of getting toxoplasmosis from touching a faggot than your cat.

I'm talking about washing my hands a few times. With a few precautions like being careful with what you ingest, you're fairly safe against the thing. People should wash their hands more often, desu.

This thing won't kill you directly unless you're old and infirm. It'll make you take foolish risks like running across the road if you're a cat. It's definitely in plenty of livestock and even in mammals in coastal waters. I remember a news articles about beached whales, I think it was. Vets found the parasites in their brains. The behavior T. gondii does is actually exactly as intended - its plan is to kill the (transient) host so that another host (the target) will eat said transient host.
This is why mice try to get deliberately eaten by cats - because that way, the parasite will reach the cat.
And there are indeed other parasites that do this, as >>15909381 said. Evolution has worked for millions of yeas by now, if a parasite is trying to get a host killed, it's something that was developed through
said evolution.
