While installing I noticed it extracting something called guard.exe, but didn't think anything of it at the time. A few hours later I started getting high CPU usage while idling which would disappear the moment I did anything. I kept an eye on task manager and saw that it was guard.exe that was doing this. I opened its location and it was in a folder in appdata that had been created at the same time I installed WC3. I looked up guard.exe and it's apparently some part of AVG, but I don't use AVG so at that point I knew something was up. Also in that folder was another program called mint.exe, and a search told me that was a miner, and I'm guessing guard.exe was its attempt to disguise itself as something legit.

I really don't know shit about this sort of thing, but that's a description of what I saw.

Losing the full library of GoG games does suck but a lot of people don't realize their retro collection was really coming along, and they even had a collection of scene games that you could DDL with decent speeds.

In this case there isn't, because the .mp3s are encoded directly from the source which means there's been minimal opportunity for deterioration. It's only after multiple steps of re-encoding lossy formats that the difference becomes noticeable. The .wavs are useful for archiving but not really neccesary for normal use.
