If everyone were to have access to infinite resources then it'll make less sense to have connection with powerful people but it doesn't necessarily erase humans' desire for social capital. They still have to train themselves to be attractive or/and entertaining (look to PUA communities) and eventually compete and have conflicts with other people striving to do the same thing (just look at catfights between female celebrities). The desire for competition and conflict is inherent in humans, and nothing can prevent those things from happening in nature.
