On one hand you've got shows like My Hero Academia without loli shit that the main-stream is eating up, and even a few movies like that deaf-girl show and the freaky-friday rip-off. I need to keep it within my skillset, anon. I was a pretty 1337 h4xx0r circa 1999, but my skills are laughable by today's standards, and it feels like it would take a lifetime to catch up so much shit. Plus other factors at play, like losing my good typing skills due to a mini-stroke back in 2004.
To create 08chan, for example, I downloaded the core software for an old Zeronet imageboard site called 0chan. I read and back-referenced the code until I understood what everything did. Then I cloned its modernized cousin called Millchan (to borrow their working certificate system), took what I knew from 0chan, and made several upgrades, custom modifications, and simplifications to the Millchan code. Then I tested and bugfixed the shit out of it, and 08chan was born.
Web development was in its infancy when I was really good at this stuff. The way shit is today, I'm limited to playing Lego's with existing open source systems to build what I want. I don't have the talent to build from scratch anymore, unless it's applications written in BASIC or Livecode.
