Not exactly verifiable news but supposedly the Bishoujo Mangekyou -Norowareshi Densetsu no Shoujo- has been finished for ages now but the translator still hasn't posted it. People are starting to come to the conclusion that it may have been picked up by a VN publisher. I wonder (((who))) is well known for picking up nearly finished VN translations and sitting on them for ages on end. Lets hope Sekai Project didn't actually do that.

I believe it has nothing to do with that. With Sekai Project, they buy the rights to an IP when fan translators give it some traction and get it hyped up. They then proceed to C&D anyone who attempts to translate it instead of hiring them like they did with Fruit of Grisaea, which is why it's the only SP game with a good translation but supposedly they're doing this with Dra-koi.

This is why the best thing for fan translators to do is to not tell anyone about the project, and then just release it when it's done. This could also be applied to fangames, romhacks and so on. It would greatly reduce the chances of being sent a C&D, and even if the letters do get sent out it would only be after release, so the patches could still be found by those who know where to look.
I guess the only thing stopping the translators doing that is their own egos. They want attention and e-cred so they fire up the hype machine to harvest some precious (you) equivalents.

Psychadelica of the Black Butterfly seems really interesting, though since it's Aksys the translation ill be hit and miss - oh, you meant "BISHoujo" not "BISHounen". Yeah that's never gonna happen for Otome. Not with an interesting story that isn't simple SoL.

So it turns out that you are forced to go through a whole playthrough (ran me about maybe 5+hrs but I skipped a lot) with the rich blond buxom cutie, which is fair and has a lot of neat little game elements to it, but then on a Clear Game you get the opportunity to go through the game with any of the other girls.
The main gist of the story is that you're a shota named Natsuki/Nazuki and you're a part of the student council that wants to stop romantic relations on St. Whatever campus. The writing is pretty fun and the characters have actual character, though nothing too deep since it's a comedy game.
Your goal is to build up "manliness" and every night you dream of a Man Meter where your decisions during the last H scene raise or lower your manliness. If you reach Rank 5 you can get to the end of the route with the best ending (or so I think).
Basically it's a shota's journey to manhood…while apparently still looking like a shota even when he's grown and married.
This game is funny, though not on the level of Majikoi or Grisia (what is?), so I'll just leave a link to where you can pick it up. It comes with the crack which you'll need since the game won't play otherwise outside of Japan. Most moronic drm ever conceived.

VNR works with a lot of games but due to DRM or certain engine types it can't hook them. Waffle games (Big Boob Fantasy, etc.) are one such example, as are the titles from this game's studio (forget the name).
However, there are two other methods to perhaps get them working. The first one is the AGTH trick by chaning the properties of the application's shortcut to coincide with those of AGTH's shortcut.

That doesn't always work, though, and then you're left with using the older standby of ITH, which does essentially what AGTH does but you're more hands-on. Both ITH and AGTH use Translation Aggregator (TA) to translate the text the programs automatically copy every line.
In this game the character names won't show up unless written in narration/dialogue and that might be because they're relegated to images instead of text, though it might be something else. Either way it does the same thing as VNR essentially just not as pretty.
Whatever VNR doesn't work with you can just use ITH & TA to get the job done.

Oh and WAFFLE just never works with anything. You can't hook a WAFFLE to save the world. I once saw a several part video walkthrough about how to get into the game's code and retool it somehow to get it to be able to be hooked but I forget how and it never worked for me. Forget what it even was. Screw that, it's too much effort and MangaGamer does a good translation job with their stuff anyway.

It has nice tension (largely due to the music) for the question arcs and the first couple of answer arcs, and it is a relatively decent experience till it drops the ball for the somewhat disappointing ending arcs.
Personally, of ryu's mystery shit I preferred Higurashi. It sported more or less the same gimmicks, which Umineko tried to fuck with around and in a way troll the readers who were expecting them, especially with the recurring characters.

That would be a simple way to put it but they're not as bad as NISA only because they don't break games. SP isn't liked around here for various reasons. For one, despite selling 30+ VNs, they still make Kickstarters for nearly every VN despite selling them for years at that. When they do this it makes it seem like they have no confidence in the product from both a fan and publisher point of view. As an established company at this point, there is no reason for them to do this as they're making fans spend money so they don't have to. It is rumored that they are terrible at managing money and spend too much trying to grab as many IPs as possible. Some studios that have worked with SP have went about their way to go with a different publisher like Frontwing with Moenovel.
As for the kickstarters. SP always delivers late when it comes to physical items. This isn't assuming the VN itself isn't years late too which has happened multiple times before. Vita versions of the VN come up years later to the point many thought it was hopeless and with some VNs, there is simply no Vita version for the EU or US. Fans who paid for it in the kickstarter are told to just import. Their customer service isn't good either as they're well known to treat their customers like trash.
Sekai also hurts fan translations. In order to beat the competition, SP buys the IPs for plenty of VNs and tries to make back the money with the kickstarter. Many of these VNs they choose intentionally knowing they have fan translations being worked on them. They let the fans hype up the product before grabbing it themselves and demanding that the fans cease their translation. Every blue moon they'll hire the fan translator to do the job for them like the one for Fruit of Grisaea and Dracu-Riot. These will be the only VNs translated well from SP. Everything else has a very poor translation. It isn't full of memes like NoA or NISA but it's still well known for not being good. Of course, cucking people out of translating the VNs they're working on doesn't help them to translate anything else which hurts the fan translation scene.

Dies Irae. If you can stomach Fate/Stay Night at its edgiest you might even like it more. Just as Hachiroku is started up, there was a point where she fainted and had to be re-wound, which felt a lot like it was missing the re-winding scene and I had to re-read the part to figure out what's going on. Then the bathhouse scene again seems like it was missing something. Were these censored parts or did they really have it like this in the original? If it's the former, don't want to continue reading it with this much missing material and would rather wait for a fix.

A lot of CG and other scenes are censored and/or inaccurate by comparison. It's basically the all-ages console version for all intents and purposes, and that includes the sprite and CG editor. The only difference is that the 18+ version has the the segregated H-scenes added in, which wasn't really hard considering, well, they were segregated anyway. So, yeah.

SP never learns from their mistakes and doesn't listen to their customers. I'm no expert but from what I understand there's a sort of clique of fansub groups who for some reason want to monopolise fansubbing and do their best to destroy any fansub group that's not a part of their club. They've gone as far as to file DMCA claims against competitors to get their stuff taken down, and since they control the main torrent site for new anime they use that to publicise their own releases.
